Young Laurent Gregoire, joining his father Henri upon completion of viticultural college, has made a rapid impact on the French wine press with his superb vinification in the ’96 and ’97 vintages. His vineyards are located at Mouzillon, near Vallet, one of the best situations in Muscadet and their vines are of a very high average age. The cuvee L’Heronniere is on average, 40-year-old vines, with yields of only 45 hl/ha. (Three and one-quarter tons per acre). This is a Muscadet with a real concentration of fruit, structure and length, comparing favorably with a fine Chablis—a really exciting find, and wine.
