The Castello Banfi 2018 Rosso di Montalcino is a stripped-down and easy-drinking red that would pair with a chicken and cheese quesadilla topped with extra sour cream and guacamole. The wine has the fresh acidity to cut through the fat in those foods without overpowering the fragrant spices and cilantro. This Rosso ages in both botte and barrique for one year. Some 750,000 bottles were made.

The 2018 Rosso di Montalcino is earthy, showing crushed bright cherry, minerals and savory herbs. On the palate, soft textures offset juicy acids and spice, with herbal cherry and woodland flora resonating throughout. The finish is medium in length, turning a bit dry, as a tug of acidity and tart red fruits linger.

Wild berry, violet and menthol aromas are front and center on this bright young red. It's easygoing and approachable, offering juicy Marasca cherry and a hint of baking spice alongside soft tannins and vibrant acidity. Drink through 2021.
