Elegant and pure, this Napa Cabernet was fashioned by an old name in the valley. Not an oaky style here, just a well done intro into the '13 vintage. Great balance.

From the time he was two, walking the vineyards with his parents Tony and JoAnn Truchard, John Anthony has been inseparable from the vine. His family traces their roots to Ellis Island, the first Truchard arriving from Leon, France; Great-Grandfather Jean-Marie Truchard established the first family winery in Texas, ca. 1892. Fast forward to 1974, the Carneros District of California, John Anthony at the tender age of two, and the Truchards become early pioneers of the California wine scene. By the 1990s, John Anthony, as Tony Truchard's eldest son, has learned the business from the ground up. The Truchard holdings across northern California total 180 acres and John Anthony has set his sights on his own label. Today, UC Davis and acres of single vineyard plantings on his resume, John Anthony owns JaM Cellars. Along with Michelle Truchard – John and Michelle – their aim with JaM is to offer consumers an undeniably easy to drink and immediately approachable style of wine. The kind of wine that made us begin drinking wine in the first place, these are flat out delicious examples that embarrass many wines costing two, three times the price. One taste, I was hooked.

Our goal was to apply small lot high end winemaking practices in the production of this wine. The resulting wine is an amazingly rich and exceptionally smooth Cabernet Sauvignon. True to it’s name, the wine is full of rich fruit flavors blended with a nice dollop of oak.
