Compass Box Crimson Casks Blended Malt Scotch (750ml)
From Scotland
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

Since its founding in 2000, Compass Box has taken the boutique Scotch whisky scene by storm, thanks to their innovative approach to their craft. "Different from a distillery, more than a blender" is how they style themselves, and that description succinctly captures what they do. Working with an incredible range of stocks from Scotland's most admired distilleries, the blending team at Compass Box sets out to create highly distinctive, specific profiles that capture the nearly endless array of possibilities within the Scotch category.

In their core line-up, the Crimson Casks is a world-wide fan favorite, blended from impeccable stocks distilled at such esteemed facilities as Glen Moray, Benrinnes, and the "Distillery near the the town of Aberlour" (wink, wink) among others. With two-thirds of the blend comprised of oloroso sherry casks, along with some prime ex-bourbon and Spanish red wine casks thrown in for good measure, it's a luxurious, pleasure-packed dram that fulfills all the promise of its name. Big, boisterous, dark fruits, deep chocolate, resonant toffee, and all manner of sweet and spicy treats are on full display in a thrillingly complex profile that garnered 95 points from Wine Enthusiast to go along with 93 points and a Top 20 Whiskies of 2024 honor from Whisky Advocate. Now, with our best-in-market pricing, you can jump in on this singular Scotch stunner that delivers as much bang for the buck as anything out there.

95WE 93WHA

Mesquite and peat smoke surround a core of succulent figs and dates drizzled with maple. Finishes long and lip-smacking with leather, espresso, cranberry, cocoa nibs and black pepper piquancy. This nut-brown Scotch is matured in oloroso sherry oak butts.

95 points, Kara Newman, Wine Enthusiast (Nov 2024)

One of the “core four” labels in Compass Box’s new lineup, along with Orchard House, Nectarosity, and The Peat Monster. Oloroso sherry casks play the starring role here, with two-thirds of the blend being oloroso-finished, creating deep color, sweetness, and a smooth texture. But it’s more subtle than just a sherry bomb, as there’s a lot going on: cinnamon spice and marzipan sweetness, creamy texture, layered flavors, and a long finish offering crème brûlée, baked red berries, brandy flambéed apricot, and more.

2023 Flowers Pinot Noir (750ml)
Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast, California
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

"I was blown away by the wines I tasted this year from Flowers." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Long before the Sonoma Coast AVA was a thing, the Sonoma Coast style was being pioneered by Flowers in the far-flung reaches of the county out near Jenner and Fort Ross. Fast-forward a few decades and here we are, still looking at Flowers as the reference point for cool-climate California Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The latest flagship releases showcase a pair of excellent vintages in 2023 and 2024, but more importantly they deliver the utterly classic Flowers personality that has made them all-time best sellers and fan-favorites in California wine. And each one carries rock-solid critical praise as always.

The 94-point 2024 Chardonnay is "a terrific introduction to this range" with its "intensity and sleek, mouthwatering acidity that give this precision." The 2023 Pinot Noir is a likewise a 94-point gem and "a great reflection of the long, cool growing season." With strong press across the board, it's yet another proven performer that long-time fans should find checks every box in the Flowers paradigm. When consistent excellence is the name of the game, Flowers is a hall of fame player.

94JD 93WE 93JS 93D 92V 92WS

The 2023 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is a medium ruby color and is fresh on the nose with notes of lifted spice, compact red berries, Bing cherries, roses, and sweet herbs. The palate is medium-bodied, with a polished and fine texture, a silky feel, and clean elegance through the finish. It’s a lovely and charming Pinot Noir with a lot of finesse to drink over the coming 8-10 years.

94 points, Audrey Frick, Jeb Dunnuck (Jul 2025)

This aromatic and savory Pinot brings aromas of roasted shiitake, black plum and clove on the nose, while the palate brings spicy energy and flavors of blackberry, plum skin, sweet cinnamon and forest floor across a long, meandering finish.

93 points, Tom R. Capo, Wine Enthusiast (Apr 2025)

It's one of the first 2023 Sonoma pinots to be released and a great reflection of the long, cool growing season. Tangy, fresh and well balanced, with intricate orange zest, cinnamon, red cherry and black tea flavors on a vibrant, acid-driven texture. Medium- to full-bodied. Drink or hold.

93 points, Jim Gordon, James Suckling (Oct 2024)

Salty fresh ocean spray with cranberry and strawberry scents on the nose. Some forest floor and wet soil accents add the savoury touch but this is lovely and expressive on the nose. Smooth and almost subtle, it’s not super bright, more knitted down and quiet right now - straight with a spiced vein that stays from start to finish. I like the succulence and precision however, there is still great acidity, but this presents more power than poise right now. 3.65pH. The first time this wine will be sold via the Place de Bordeaux. Owner Huneeus Vintners, director Jen Beloz and winemaker Chantal Forthun.

93 points, Georgina Hindle, Decanter (Jul 2025)

The 2023 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast) is another terrific wine from Flowers. Bright, aromatic and lifted, it offers up an exotic mélange of crushed red berry fruit, cedar, cinnamon, pipe tobacco and dried herbs. Strong floral and savory inflections lend energy throughout. The 2023 is light on its feet and quite delicate, not to mention long on personality.

92 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Jan 2025)

Fresh and focused, with raspberry and blood orange coulis lined with rooibos tea and savory notes. A subtle mineral thread supports the finish. Offers a textbook Sonoma Coast profile. Drink now through 2029. 34,600 cases made.

2023 Servin Vaillons Chablis 1er Cru (750ml)
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy, France
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

"The 30-hectare Domaine Servin ... continues to number among Chablis's most reliable addresses." - William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Long-time B-21 Burgundy aficionados know Domaine Servin as a bastion of the classical Chablis style. Year in and year out, this exceptional estate holds true to the characteristics that have earned the region its legions of adoring fans. Even in a warm vintage like 2023, the domaine's extensive range of wines maintain the chiseled cut and energy that fans of the old school know and love.

These are proven performers that deliver quintessential Chablis style and first-class QPR. A standout trio of 1er crus is lead by the "simply beautiful" Montée de Tonnerre that garnered 94 points from View From the Cellar's John Gilman and 90-93 points and an Outstanding designation from Meadows of Burghound, who notes its "The super-sleek, intense and equally attractively textured flavors " The crown jewels in the Servin stable are undoubtedly the Les Clos and Bougros Grands Crus, both of which are superbly structured renditions that collectors will love to have in their cellars for years to come.

As the region's recent growing seasons have tended to favor a more modern, upfront style, it's becoming increasingly harder to find Chablis expressions that capture the very best of what made the region famous in the first place, but Domaine Servin is still holding true to form, and you'll be hard-pressed to find more transparent terroir character in the 2023 vintage than this line-up on offer today.

93JG 92BH 89V

Domaine Servin’s Vaillons is entirely hand-harvested, with these vines ranging from twenty-five to more than thirty-five years of age and right in the sweet spot of their prime. This cuvée is raised entirely in stainless steel tank. The 2023 Vaillons offers up an outstanding nose of apple, pear, a touch of anise, citrus peel, chalky soil tones, white lilies and a topnote of beeswax. On the palate the wine is bright, focused and full-bodied, with lovely depth of fruit at the core, a fine girdle of acidity, excellent mineral drive and grip and a long, impeccably balanced and complex, vibrant finish. This is excellent juice.

93 points, John Gilman, View From The Cellar (Apr 2025)

The mildly exotic aromas of ripe orchard, including white and yellow peach, apricot, lychee and passion fruit, are cut with citrus and tidal pool nuances. There is once again fine volume and excellent richness to the delicious medium-bodied flavors that possess a subtle minerality on the bone-dry, youthfully austere and borderline tannic finish. At least a few years of cellaring should be beneficial.

90-92 points, Allen Meadows, Burghound (Oct 2024)

The 2023 Chablis Vaillons 1er Cru has a pretty bouquet, quite floral with yellow plum and a touch of brioche. The palate is fresh and crisp, not the most complex than the Les Fôrets with a touch of spice on the finish. Drink over the next 5-6 years.

2023 Shafer One Point Five (750ml)
Cabernet Sauvignon from Stags Leap, California
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

Easily one of the most revered estates in all of California wine, Shafer is synonymous with Napa Valley, and particularly the striking (and strikingly expensive) Pritchard Hill terroir, Of course, the towering Hillside Select is an original California luxury blue chip, but we've always loved it's baby brother, the One Point Five, for its ability to translate the heart and soul of this remarkable estate for a fraction of the price of the Hillside.

"The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five is stellar ... It’s a gorgeous bridge into the flagship Hillside Select." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

By first indications, the 2023 Napa vintage is shaping up to be one for the ages, so it's no surprise to see this Napa icon shining brightly once again. "Deep, pliant and resonant in the glass," the One Point Five nails the quintessential character of the 2023 growing season with real style and distinction, resulting in rock-solid press led by a 96-point review from Jeb Dunnuck, who calls it a "classic, serious wine" that even touches on a bit of Pauillac spirit for a sterling, benchmark display of Napa Cabernet brilliance.

96JD 94V 94JS

A bigger, darker Cabernet Sauvignon in the lineup, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five offers blackcurrants, smoked tobacco, gravelly earth, and cedar pencil notes that all shine beautifully. It's full-bodied and has a rich, layered, elegant mouthfeel, plenty of tannins, and a great finish. This classic, serious wine from this team deserves 4-5 years of bottle age and will have 25 years or more of longevity. Drink 2029-2049.

96 points, Jeb Dunnuck (Dec 2025)

The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five is stellar. Deep, pliant and resonant in the glass, the One Point Five has so much to offer. Dark plum, blackberry, menthol and espresso all build effortlessly in the glass. It’s a gorgeous bridge into the flagship Hillside Select.

94 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Nov 2025)

Generous and perfumed with aromas of blackberry confit, violets, licorice, cigar box and graphite. The palate is full-bodied with a densely packed mouthfeel and refined, polished tannins. A well-made and classy wine with plenty to offer. Drink or hold.

2019 Chateau Lafite Rothschild (750ml)
Cabernet Sauvignon from Pauillac, Bordeaux, France
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

Representing the upper echelon in the Bordeaux hierarchy, these top scoring vintages from two iconic First Growth estates are guaranteed not to disappoint, whether it's the "complexity, finesse and longevity" of Chateau Lafite Rothschild according to Inside Bordeaux's Jane Anson or the signature "explosive depth" and "breathtaking purity of flavor" of Chateau Haut-Brion according to Vinous critic Antonio Galloni, another terrific opportunity to fill in the cellar with 100 pt. gems or treat yourself to the one of a kind pleasures that only First Growth Bordeaux can deliver in every vintage at best on the market pricing.

Spanning 112 hectares as the largest holding among the First Growths, the vineyards of Chateau Lafite Rothschild are located on rolling slopes of gravel up to ten meters deep in Pauillac, planted mostly to Cabernet Sauvignon with less than half of the total production making the final cut and aged for 18-20 months in new French oak barrels made at the estate's onsite cooperage.Exhibiting Lafite's "undeniable class and charm" according to Jeb Dunnuck, these top scoring selections range from the refined 100 pt. 2015 Chateau Lafite Rothschild that's just entering its realm of approachability, described by Inside Bordeaux's Jane Anson as "a truly classic Lafite" that's "understated and lyrical" to the magnificent triple 100 pt. 2020 Chateau Lafite Rothschild promising to "hit its 100th birthday in fine form" according to Jeb Dunnuck, every vintage revealing intensely aromatic, concentrated dark fruit with textbook graphite notes and layered silky tannins promising decades of longevity. Set among the contemporary suburbs of the city of Bordeaux, Chateau Haut-Brion's vineyards for the red Grand Vin span 50 hectares in Pessac-Leognan, planted almost evenly with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with small parcels of Cab Franc and Petit Verdot in a complex terroir ranging from limestone to sand to 18-meter-deep gravels interspersed with deep clay, the Grand Vin aged in mostly new French oak barrels for 22 months. With every vintage boasting its legendary ability to age, these thrilling selections range from the plush 100 pt. 2009 Chateau Haut-Brion offering the estate's signature ripe, opulent fruit elegantly balancing massive tannins to the 100 pt. 2020 Chateau Haut-Brion declared "a legend in the making" by Jeb Dunnuck and "ready to shine as the centerpiece of your collection for the next 40+ years" according to Inside Bordeaux's Jane Anson.

A treasure trove of exceptional First Growths that will make it hard to choose, these top scoring blends from Chateau Lafite Rothschild and Chateau Haut-Brion range fromsome with over a decade of cellaring to more recent vintages requiring patient cellaring, all promising a thrilling evolution for decades to come and delivered in perfect provenance at best on the market pricing.

100WA 100JS 98V 98WS

One of the greatest wines produced in Bordeaux this year is the 2019 Lafite Rothschild, an impeccably balanced classic of immense charm and grace. Wafting from the glass with arresting aromas of cassis, blackberries and cherries mingled with violets, cigar box and warm spices, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and seamless, its velvety attack segueing into a layered, concentrated mid-palate framed by exquisitely powdery tannins and ripe acids, and concluding with a long, perfumed finish. This rivals the 2010 and 2016 as the greatest Lafite of the decade, and of those three vintages, it's clearly the most sensual and demonstrative out of the gates. The blend contains fully 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and attained a modest 13.4% alcohol.

100 points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate (Apr 2022)

So much sweet tobacco, Spanish cedar, dried flowers, dark mushrooms and roses. Really aromatic. This is so polished and very powerful, yet ethereal and refined at the same time. The finish goes on for minutes. Tight and harmonious. You want to drink it! So balanced, yet it will age beautifully. It will be this good forever. 94% cabernet sauvignon, 5% merlot and 1% petit verdot. Better after 2031.

100 points, James Suckling (Feb 2022)

The 2019 Lafite-Rothschild is a mesmerizing wine that shows how compelling the vintage is on the Left Bank. Elegant, creamy and exquisitely layered, the 2019 Lafite conquers all the senses. There is tremendous density and power that belies the 12.8% alcohol, but then again, that can be the magic of Bordeaux. Classic Lafite red plum fruit, spice, cedar, licorice and rose petal linger on the striking, persistent finish.

98 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Feb 2022)

A very energetic wine, with wild loganberry, mulberry and black currant fruit flavors that bristle with mouthwatering bay leaf, licorice root and savory notes. The finish is tight now, with charcoal shadings and a smoldering cast iron note, but there's additional black tea, incense and floral hints for contrast. Dense and driven, with more than enough elements to match its energy, meaning this can cruise in the cellar for a long time. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2026 through 2045.

2022 Philippe Alliet Chinon Vieilles Vignes (750ml)
Cabernet Franc from Chinon, Loire, France
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

"What a great scoop for our Loire direct-import portfolio to have Philippe Alliet and his son Pierre join the fold ... these wines are easily among the very best in Chinon." - Andrew Kitz, B-21 Loire Buyer

While not extremely well-known on this side of the Atlantic, Domaine Philippe Alliet is one of the Chinon appellation's leading lights, standing in strong company right alongside the likes of Charles Joguet. Father and son Philippe and Pierre employ meticulous methods to their prized vineyard holdings (some of the very best in all of Chinon), spearheading a new wave of viticulture that emphasizes very low yields and optimally ripe fruit at all costs. The resulting wines are nothing short of revelatory, reference-point expressions, which we saw first-hand during a tasting last fall.

The entire range is superb, but the 93-point 2022 Vieilles Vignes offers a perfect introduction to this remarkable, must-know estate.Selecting from the oldest vines in their various plots, all at least 70 years old, the Alliets vinify and age the VV entirely in cement vats, while full de-stemming only adds to the sheer allure of the wine's personality and expression. As Yohan Castaing of Wine Advocate writes, "This vintage is one of the most precise and pure expressions of Vieilles Vignes I have ever tasted. Kudos!"

Turning to the single-vineyard cuvées, the 2022 L'Huisserie hails from a south-facing on Chinon's most favored hillside, the clay and flint soils imparting both a round, fleshy, full-fruited character as well as a firm mineral signature to the wine. This "multidimensional wine" showcase the Alliet style to a T, with none of the rusticity that often follows Chinon Cab Franc. Finally, the 2023 Coteau de Noiré is a stupendous expression of a Chinon "grand cru" site with similar clay and marl soils and a much steeper 40% incline. The wine exhibits a firm structural foundation, sappy mid-palate, and brooding fruit profile for what amounts to a pinnacle expression of cellar-worthy Cabernet Franc.

Best of all, we're bringing you the Alliet wines directly from the domaine as new additions to our rapidly expanding Loire direct-import range, so the quality for price, which was already outstanding, becomes essentially unbeatable in the category.

93WA 92AK 91JS

Aromas of raspberries, licorice, cassis and dark wild berries preface the 2022 Chinon Vieilles Vignes, a medium-bodied, enveloping and layered wine with a seamless, fine-grained texture complemented by powdery tannins and concluding with a long and ethereal finish. This vintage is one of the most precise and pure expressions of Vieilles Vignes I have ever tasted. Kudos!

93 points, Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate (Jun 2024)

What a great scoop for our Loire direct-import portfolio to have Philippe Alliet and his son Pierre join the fold. They’re far less known in the US than they should be, because these wines are easily among the very best in Chinon. The 2022 Vieilles Vignes, sourced from their oldest plots at least 70 years of age, is undeniably charming for seasoned Loire fans and the Loire curious alike. Done entirely in concrete from fully de-stemmed fruit, the 2022 is emblematic of the new wave of growers in Chinon, among whom the Alliets stand out in a big way. Compact aromatics of dark currant, black cherry, anisette, and red hard candy jump from the glass, with just a tinge of chalky minerality underneath. The palate is equally concentrated and compact, with more dark fruits, white peppercorn, and red licorice. Great structural balance and texturally suave, it’s juicy and perfectly ripe. This makes for a style that might come across as “modern” to some, but in reality it's varietal purity through and through. In essence, textbook Chinon Cabernet Franc.

92 points, Andrew Kitz, B-21 Loire Buyer (Dec 2025)

Dried herbs, berries, paprika and violets on the nose. It’s full-bodied and deeply colored with excellent purity. Lots of ripe, fine tannins. Cabernet franc aged in concrete. Drink or hold.

2023 Veyder-Malberg Gruner Veltliner Liebedich (750ml)
Gruner Veltliner from Wachau, Lower Austria, Austria
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

"Based on this showing, Veyder-Malberg is indeed as mad and as genius as they say he is." - Andrew Kitz, B-21 Austria Buyer

You may not know Peter Veyder-Malberg, but among Austrian wine insiders, he's one of the most iconoclastic, not to mention talented, winemakers in the Wachau. His wines don't get nearly the wider attention that they deserve thanks to his general aversion to having them reviewed professionally (he's not a fan of tagging an arbitrary number onto his wines), so in order to get an idea of how truly special they are, you have to taste them yourself, and that's what B-21 Austria buyer Andrew Kitz recently did with the exceptional 2023s.

Based in the Spitzer Graben, a narrow side valley of the Wachau with a decidedly cooler microclimate, Veyder-Malberg has been marching to the beat of his own drummer since the beginning, and the results are in a class all their own, starting with his "entry-level" Grüner Veltliner Liebedich. Sourced from many of Wachau's most prized sites, including Loibenberg and Hochrain, it's "a quintessential example of Austria’s most famous native grape in every way ... a layered, textured expression that Austrian wine fans shouldn’t miss."

His true genius, however, shines in his single-vineyard wines, like the 2023 Grüner Veltliner Hochrain. Andrew describes a 95-point expression with aromas of "pure, shimmering minerality" and a palate that's "achingly elegant and precise ... a study in restrained intensity and ethereal elegance." Likewise, the 96-point 2023 Riesling Bruck is a remarkable, singular style that could only come from a winemaker like Veyder-Malberg. "Peter Veyder-Malberg’s 2023 Riesling Bruck is simply stunning. Like his other wines, it demands time, it demands proper temperature, and it demands attention. When all three conditions are met, you’re rewarded with a Riesling of absolutely beguiling delicacy, shimmering personality, and generally jaw-dropping finesse."

It bears noting that these are not wines for immediate gratification. They are intellectual to say the least, and the 2023s at the moment are very primary, so patient collectors can confidently stock up knowing there is some tremendous evolution in store. If you're a fan of truly world-class Austrian wines, you need to jump on the Veyder-Malberg train without hesitation.

93AK

The 2023 appellation Grüner from Veyder-Malberg is a quintessential example of Austria’s most famous native grape in every way. Sourced from many of Wachau’s most famous sites, including Hochrain, Loibenberg, and others, it opens with a smoky, slightly reductive nose, with reticent notes of volcanic ash and fragrant flowers. The palate is also very mineral at first, with Grüner’s classic white pepper clearly prominent on the finish, but all this changes dramatically with just a little time and air. The minerality on the nose becomes much more refined as the smoky element disappears, the floral tones round out to lilac and peach blossom with accents of Bosc pear and spicy basil. The palate also goes from stridently acidic, almost prickly, to svelte, lithe, and seamless in a matter of minutes. The soils of the lower-slope vineyards are fine and poised on the finish, while fruit flavors of quince, kumquat, and crisp green apple make for a layered, textured expression that Austrian wine fans shouldn’t miss.

2023 Schiopetto Collio Friulano (750ml)
Friulano from Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto, Italy
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

We've taken tremendous pleasure in watching our direct-import relationship with Schiopetto take off, since these are unquestionably some of the most incisive, harmonious, and scintillating Italian white wines out there. Indeed, as Kerin O'Keefe contends, they prove without a doubt that Italy's white wines can reach a level of serious expression to rival many others in the Old World.

Several vintages in a row have gotten our B-21 customers acquainted with this range and built up quite a following, and we're happy to report that after a recent tasting of the latest releases, there are even more stunning offerings on tap in the coming months, starting with the 95-point 2023 Friulano. James Suckling describes it as "very minerally and smoky ... medium- to full-bodied, tangy and energetic," while Wine Advocate's Monica Larner found "classic layers of Golden Delicious apple, quince and mineral tones." We were similarly struck with the head-turning, perfumed aromatics, the surprisingly complex and charming flavors, and the lip-smacking finish.

Another 95-point varietal benchmark is the 2023 Pinot Bianco. While the grape often gets shorted in reputation and renown, it can nonetheless produce incredibly compelling wines in the right hands. Schiopetto's 2023 is "full and layered with lovely density and freshness" according to James Suckling, with purity and depth to spare.

These are just the highlights, but if you're already a fan of Schiopetto, you'll no doubt be making room in the cellar for the whole range, and if you haven't yet tried them, this is a can't-miss opportunity to add a truly world-class estate to your repertoire.

This is very minerally and smoky, with matchstick undertones to the grilled lemon and dried apple aromas. Turns to honeysuckle and fresh lemongrass on the palate. It’s medium- to full-bodied, tangy and energetic, with hints of bitter lemons and rose stems. Excellent finish. Drink now.

"This is an extraordinary vintage that will go down in record books as one of the all-time greats." - Jeb Dunnuck

When Bordeaux's 2022 vintage premiered three years ago, there was some uncertainty as to how the wines would play out from such a hot, dry growing season, one which surely promised wines of massive power, ripeness, and weight. Would it be too much of a good thing?

As it appeared then, and as it has turned out now that the wines are releasing to market, it's an extraordinary campaign among the best of the century. As Dunnuck observes, "Now that the wines are in bottles, it’s clear they have fully lived up to the early hype—and not just at the high end. The 2022s are deep, layered, and concentrated while staying beautifully balanced, light on their feet, and elegant."

Beautifully poised and well delivered black fruits here, and this is excellent quality, unusual spices of sweet cinnamon, vanilla bean, turmeric, gourmet edging, with depth and tannic grip. Great stuff, flashes of heat, but a ton of personality, and serious architecture that promises to age well. 40% new oak barrels for ageing. Now contains part of the vines from newly-purchased Château Brillette, with good quality Cabernet Sauvignon from gravel terroir, in place as of this 2022 blend vitage.

93 points, Jane Anson (May 2023)

Cool and crisp, a little sombre at first, the dense tannins and liquorice, blue fruit and soft herbal aspects at the fore but there is juiciness here, good depth and lovely precision where you feel the edges to the frame and the quality of the tannins, even though they're full and mouthcoting. Nice potential with cool freshness. Calm and confident, still with enough acidity to keep the life and energy, but a touch more serious than some others. Lots to like here and will age well. Yield of 34hl/ha. Harvest 17 September - 6 October. 2% Cabernet Franc completes the blend.

2023 Eric Forest Pouilly-Fuisse les Crays 1er Cru (750ml)
Chardonnay from Maconnais, Burgundy, France
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

His name doesn't appear much in the critical press these days, but Eric Forest quietly remains one of Pouilly-Fuissé most engaging and talented winemakers. Our Burgundy team recently paid a visit to his cellars, and they were thrilled to discover Eric and his wines in exceptional form. The range of 2023s got nods all around, but the Les Crays 1er Cru was the undisputed standout.

"One of the top three wines from our recent trip to Burgundy, and we’re thrilled to get it directly from the domaine’s cellars." - Andrew Kitz, B-21 Burgundy Buyer

The Les Crays vineyard itself boasts every feature that makes a quintessential Pouilly-Fuissé Chardonnay - southerly exposure, very poor soils of broken limestone, moderate slope, and old vines (these planted between 1930 and 1966). At the foot of the famed Roche de Vergisson, Les Crays is terroir excellence in a nutshell, and Forest's 2023 "is a head-turning expression that shows why this vineyard is a bona fide 1er cru," according to Andrew. It's a complete wine in every sense that is already starting to synch its components into a harmonious whole that will only gain in complexity and personality over the coming several years.

Further underscoring the excellence of Forest's domaine holdings are his old-vine, single-vineyard gems from Terre Noire in St-Véran and Clos des Charmes in Mâcon-Pierreclos. The former comes from a small, 100-year-old parcel on dark clay over bleached white limestone, and it's "easily the most concentrated and intense wine in Forest’s line-up," tightly wound today but with utterly compelling cellar potential for the medium to long term. The latter, by contrast, is an "upfront, charming yet precisely crafted gem ... with real style and substance that does everything it’s supposed to."

Today's Burgundy market is a wild place, and when you find a top-notch, single-vineyard expressions like these under $60, you jump at them, plain and simple.

96AK

The standout wine in Forest’s compelling line-up, the 2023 Les Crays 1er Cru is a head-turning expression that shows why this vineyard is a bona fide 1er cru. The shallow, pure limestone scree of the south-facing slope of the Roche de Vergisson is tailor-made white Burgundy terroir, with vines planted between 1930 and 1966. Meyer lemon, kaffir lime, spicy basil, and lemon verbena combine with super-fine limestone minerality to make a very pretty nose with pitch-perfect intensity as well as precision. Very faint touches of tropical fruit in the background hint at Les Crays’ sheltered micro-climate, but the chalk keeps them in check beautifully along with barely perceptible oak. The palate is a textbook lesson in tension, as the site’s ripe fruit character provides a stunning contrast to laser-focused acidity and extract, putting forth well-defined flavors of lemon and lime zest, kumquat, heady gardenia blossom, and a firm, pure, chalky spine to back it all up. The very slightest barrel tones add a layer of richness and texture that fan out on the exceptionally balanced finish. One of the top three wines from our recent trip to Burgundy, and we’re thrilled to get it directly from the domaine’s cellars.

The 2022 Le C des Carmes Haut-Brion is punching above its weight this year. Unfurling in the glass with a gourmand, lively and vibrant bouquet of raspberry, mulberries, rose, violet and cassis, it's medium to full-bodied, seamless and layered with refined, velvety tannins and a deep core of fruit, concluding with a harmonious, elegant profile that avoids any excess, enhancing its distinctive personality. Guillaume Pouthier, Guillaume Deschepper and their team have done a fantastic job at this address, delivering an exceptional wine.

94 points, Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate (Mar 2025)

The 2022 C Des Carmes Haut-Brion is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, and the rest 1% Petit Verdot that was fermented with 30% whole clusters and aged 12 months in a new foudre (there's a small part in used barrels) followed by four months all in concrete tanks. There are fewer stems in this cuvée as the vines are younger, and it has a higher percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon. Its deep ruby/purple hue is followed by a spicy, peppery, complex perfume of darker berry and plum fruits, spring flowers, tobacco leaf, and a beautiful sense of minerality. Medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated, elegant, and loaded with character, it's a singular Pessac-Léognan that will have two decades of longevity.

94 points, Jeb Dunnuck (Feb 2025)

The 2022 Le C de Carmes Haut-Brion is a big, powerful wine. Just bottled, it is dramatic and decidedly large-scaled in the early going. I am curious to see how much baby fat this sheds in the next year or so as it starts to recover from bottling. Even today, though, the 2022 is so impressive. Dark red cherry/plum fruit, spice, dried herbs and menthol gradually open with a bit of coaxing. I would not dream of touching a bottle any time soon.

94 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Jan 2025)

The aromas just pop out of the glass, offering plenty of flowers, pears, berries, rose stems and fresh currants. Wild fruits, too. It's full-bodied with so much juicy fruit and a creamy texture. Already open and delicious, with wonderful intensity. 30% whole-cluster fermentation. Second wine of Les Carmes Haut-Brion. Best after 2027, but fantastic now.

94 points, James Suckling (Jan 2025)

Seductive and deeply perfumed, this wine bursts with blackcurrants, cherries, and subtle spice. The crystalline acidity is immediately fresh and bright, while soft, delicate tannins create a silky texture without heaviness. It has energy and forward motion, balancing purity and precision. The Carmes signature shines through - pure fruit, supple tannins, and a long, elegant body. Flavours of cherry, damson plum, and redcurrant lead to a mineral, oyster-shell finish with a subtle salty tang. Both fresh and age-worthy, this is a beautifully framed, dynamic wine that leaves you wanting more. One of the best second wines. I love this. 31% whole bunch fermented.

94 points, Georgina Hindle, Decanter (Jan 2025)

A lovely wine, great depth of flavour, wisps of smoke and grilled coffee bean, avoids the heaviness of the vintage, and provides a distinct personality. 30% whole cluster, Guillaume Pouthier director, Guillaume Deschepper technical director, closed with wax. First year ageing in 55% new oak of differing sizes, then amphoras and cement vats for second year. From the 2023 vintage they plan to add an extra year in cement vats to ensure that the C de Carmes is fully ready to drink on release.

"Acknowledging that 2019 is already a heralded vintage, the salient question is whether it represents the summit of the 2018, 2019 and 2020 triumvirate. 'Yes' is the answer. I have always felt that is the case." - Neal Martin, Vinous

Of course, you may or may not agree with Martin in terms of 2019 place in the "trifecta," but it's undeniable that is a truly spectacular Bordeaux vintage that has more than lived up to its day-one hype since the wine's have hit the market, hit collector's cellars, and found their way into the glasses of impatient enthusiasts. Best of all, pricing has always been highly favorable compared to 2018 and 2020 (to say nothing of 2022), so the 2019s have also been some of the sharpest collectible buys on the market from the get-go and remain so today.

We've just landed a must-see treasure trove from this heralded campaign at ... you guessed it ... razor-sharp pricing cross the board, with superb performers in every classification and price tier.

Redcurrants with sweet tobacco, hazelnut, mint and moist earth, following through to a medium to full body, ultra-fine tannins and a palate that grows at the finish. Needs a minimum of three or four years to come around. Try after 2025.

95 points, James Suckling (Jan 2022)

Nuanced, concentrated, still very much in primary phase but full of Sociando character, back into the heart of what this estate can deliver. It will clearly age for decades, and it is gorgeous, laced through with cassis, black chcocolate, pomegranate, graphite, balanced and juicy. Harvest September 18 to October 11, 90% new oak, 12 months in barrel then 6 months in vat, 77ha in production. 43hl/h yield. A tribute to Jean Gautreau on the label (you'll find the words Hommage à Jean Gautreau), as he died aged 82 in October 2019. Consultant oenologist Michel-Bernard Couasnon.

95 points, Jane Anson (Jun 2024)

Some savoury elements on the nose, olive and black tapenade. Excellent concentration on the palate, less fruit forward at this point than the Demoiselle second wine, but excellent tension and power – really taut, all in line, straight, driven. A lot going on aromatically – cinnamon, cigar box, cedar, smoke and dark chocolate – really super-complex, with tannins that are smooth but present and a minty finish. Layered and precise, you can feel the sculpting of the fruits and the well-handled oak and extraction. Excellent.

95 points, Georgina Hindle, Decanter (Jan 2022)

One of the best Haut-Médocs out there, and a wine that competes with any number of classified growths, the 2019 Château Sociando-Mallet is ruby/plum-hued and has a great nose of ripe red and black currants, spice, smoked tobacco, and loamy earth. It shows the more expressive, open, seamless style of the 2019 vintage and is medium to full-bodied, has beautifully polished tannins, and just about perfect balance. Smart readers will buy a case (or more) of this beauty, and it will have an incredibly broad drink window, with 30-35 years of overall longevity.

94 points, Jeb Dunnuck (Mar 2023)

The 2019 Sociando-Mallet has gained composure since I tasted the barrel sample. Now it has engaging red and black fruit, cedar and freshly rolled tobacco scents, focused and quite vigorous. The palate is structured, with firm grip, very well-judged acidity, good substance and a cohesive, black-pepper- and pencil-lead-tinged finish that has real length. Top-drawer Sociando-Mallet.

94 points, Neal Martin, Vinous (Feb 2022)

Notes of minty cassis, cigar wrapper and loamy soil, deftly framed by toasty new oak, introduce the 2019 Sociando-Mallet, a medium to full-bodied, rich and concentrated wine that’s incipiently complex and elegantly muscular in profile. The style of the vintage has lent this more youthful polish than is sometimes the case, and it will offer a broad drinking window.

Ripe cherry aromatics, firm tannins that are holding everything in place, but generous enough to get things revved up and keep focus on the fruit. This is exactly what you look for in a smaller chateaux in a vintage like 2022 - it's easy to drink with plenty of personality. 20% barrels for ageing, the rest in vat. Frost at the beginning of April, reduced the quantity and meant they focused a little more on Merlot this year, but there is still black pepper and spiced violet notes from the old Malbec. Jean-Marc Domme winemaker since March 2018, Pierre Lurton owner. A value buy.

93 points, Jane Anson (Mar 2025)

The 2022 Marjosse is a bright, nervy red. Floral notes, orange peel, mint and white pepper lend notable energy throughout. Readers will find an atypically vibrant wine for the year. More than anything else, the 2022 represents a pretty significant shift for Marjosse toward a style that focuses on greater freshness than in the past.

2021 Giovanni Manzone Barolo Castelletto (750ml)

"Manzone turned out a fabulous set of 2021 Barolos ... Readers who enjoy savory, classically built Barolos informed by cooler microclimates will want to check these wines out." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Giovanni Manzone is one of Barolo's great hidden gems, and we're excited to kick our direct partnership with them into high gear with the fabulous 2021 vintage. Based in Monforte d'Alba, Manzone owns prime parcels in Castelletto and Gramolere, where today's pair of single-vineyard all-stars comes from.

"The 2021 Barolo Gramolere is deep, layered and super-expressive ... a drop-dead gorgeous beauty," declares Antonio Galloni of Vinous. This steep south/southwest-facing slope, situated between Castelletto and Bussia, is ideal Nebbiolo terroir, and the wines it produces are consistently classic in style. The rocky, with clay-calcareous soils are too poor to grow anything other than vines, so of course, we're talking about primo raw materials for stunning, single-cru Barolo. Galloni doesn't mince words about the Castelletto either: "This poised, dramatic Barolo has it all. It's one of the very finest wines I have tasted at this address in a very long time. Don't miss it." The 2021 rendition more than lives up to the hype with "a beguiling mix of aromatic intensity, fruit depth and structure." This steep, east-southeast-facing slope of sandy, calcareous soils yields a classical style of Barolo, and the incredible 2021 growing season puts its stamp on this monumental expression. A complete wine in every sense, the 2021 Castelletto is an ultimate Piedmont insider's score, standing with other Barolo masterpieces (like Sandrone's Le Vigne, Burlotto's Casteletto, and Vietti's Cerequio, to name a few) at a mere fraction of their prices.

We recently tasted the full range of Manzone 2021s, and they as quintessential in style as you could wish for from a great Barolo vintage – perfect fruit ripeness, exquisite aromatics, and textural brilliance, all in primary form and ready to evolve into something special.

The 2021 Barolo Castelletto is another absolutely stellar wine in this lineup. Ample and broad on the palate, the Castelletto offers a beguiling mix of aromatic intensity, fruit depth and structure. Hampden Estate HLCF Classic Rum (750ml)
From Wakefield, Trelawney, Jamaica
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

Among rum fanatics, the Hampden name instills a sense of reverence and, you might even say, joy thanks to their incredible, single-estate expressions that are known the world over. The estate's storied history as a sugar plantation and distillery dates back 265 years, but it was only in 2010 that they began aging their rums on site, and only in 2018 that they began bottling under their own label. In that brief span of time, the estate's official bottlings have become some of the most coveted and desired in the rum scene. Although we've endured a bit of a Hampden absence for a while, the brand is back in action at B-21 with its two most beloved releases, the 8 Year Old Single Estate and the HLCF Classic Pure Single Estate.

The 8 Year's widely recognized green label is a symbol of excellence to Jamaican rum fans everywhere, as the light ester OWH marque is a perfect introduction to Jamaican rum category, offering a classic profile that isn't overwhelmingly funky or industrial with esters at just 40-60 g/HLPA . Still, the 8 Year is "loaded with aromatic and flavor complexity" according to B-21 Spirits Buyer Andrew Kitz. The intensely fruity nose is accented with numerous secondary nuances, while the palate offers just enough for funk fans to smile about without turning away the novice taster who's taking their first foray into Jamaican rum. As Andrew notes, it's "one of the iconic Jamaican rums that made me a fully converted rum fanatic, [and] it’s every bit as compelling as it’s always been."

Taking things in a completely different direction, the HLCF Classic shows Hampden's higher-ester chops in all their glory. At 400-600 g/HLPA, it offers "the quintessential counterpart to the 8 Year’s relatively lighter, gentler personality." As the Beverage Testing Institute declares in their 97-point review, "this is not for the faint of heart or amateur imbiber, but hot damn is this delicious and complex; would happily sit with a bottle all day." A big industrial funk character is the foundation of the profile, offering "stunning complexity" on the nose and a deeply resonant, multi-dimensional palate. As Andrew notes, "those who appreciate the style will absolutely go head over heels for it."

Jamaican rum is a category unto itself, and Hampden occupies a very special place in that sphere, so when we say these are must-have expressions for any fan of the category, we surely mean it.

97BTI 94AK

Clear copper color. Dusty, savory, baked aromas of high ester Jamaican funking and delicious, over ripe pineapple with orange zest, flambéed bananas foster, and cedar with a lightly tannic, fruity medium-full body and a very long over ripe banana dipped in caramel and rolled in cinnamon nutmeg and ginger, walnut oil, and black pepper, pickled ginger, maple, black tea, and and cinnamon finish. The proof and the dundery high ester funk assure that this is not for the faint of heart or amateur imbiber, but hot damn is this delicious and complex; would happily sit with a bottle all day and reflect on what cigar pairings or cocktails would be best and then discover that the whole bottle accidentally disappeared.

97 points, Beverage Testing Institute (Apr 2024)

The HLCF is the quintessential counterpart to the 8 Year’s relatively lighter, gentler personality. The nose leads with huge industrial notes of new rubber and diesel engine before giving away anything else. Time and air bring out stewed apples, dark caramel, fermented pineapple, and jerk spices. As the funk fades into the background, softer tones green banana, spiced Christmas cake, and candied orange peel add to the stunning complexity. The palate is every bit as bold and assertive, with a fair amount of heat at first. The medium weight sits on a firm, grippy texture with more huge industrial funk leading the way. A deep mix of cooked tropical and tree fruits, jerked chicken, and sarsaparilla emerge with a few drops of water, as the texture evens out considerably. The medium-long finish turns a touch medicinal as the fruits are accented by licorice root and asphalt, a final indication of the high-ester marque. This isn’t for everyone, but those who appreciate the style will absolutely go head over heels for it.

This is really something for the Prieure. The aromas are vivid and bright and so, so perfumed. Violets, other flowers and citrus blossoms too. Medium- to full-bodied with ultrafine polished tannins that go on and on. Cashmere texture. Long and seductive. Best after 2029.

96 points, James Suckling (Jan 2025)

Enticing aromatics, crushed rose petals, with a kick of dark cassis and blueberry fruits on the opening, well balanced, enjoyable, delivered with skill and retains the appellation typicity while not sacrificing the exuberance of the year. Good quality. One to age, you can feel the tannins holding everything firmly in place at this point. 32hl/h yield.

94 points, Jane Anson (Mar 2025)

This 2022 has a blend led by 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, with 30% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. A rather sweet, smoky and brooding character on the nose, with blackcurrant, blackberry, toasted liquorice, tar and mint. The palate follows on from this dark and somewhat brooding nose with a polished and finely integrated style, with powdery and dark substance, a fine grip of rich tannins, and toasted blackberry and olive fruits. There is quite a bit of spirity oak lactone here, but this will integrate given time, and it does not detract from the cohesive structure and wealth of dark fruits. A very impressive Margaux, the structure and holding up well throughout, even into the finish and length, where the tannins linger long. A smart 2022 from Prieuré-Lichine, an estate that deserves a greater following. Put this one in your cellar. Tasted twice. The alcohol on the label is 13.5%.

Tobacco, dark chocolate, blackcurrants, plums, and rose petals on the nose, with sandalwood and cinnamon adding complexity. Dark, brooding flavors with toasted elements alongside dark fruits. "By any measure, 2023 is a magnificent vintage." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Galloni isn't the only voice to be singing the praises of Napa's 2023 vintage. Winemakers and critics alike seem over the moon about the uniformly high quality of this cool, long growing season. Jeb Dunnuck already compares it to another modern classic: "Across the board, the 2023s stand out for their purity, vibrancy, and elegance, yet they still deliver depth, richness, and concentration. The top 2023s are unquestionably on the level of the 2016s." What this means for wine lovers is that there are tremendous bargains to be found if you know where to look, something that is becoming a rare occurrence in today's Napa market. Today's offer brings together a handful of the top QPR releases to hit the market recently, all at sub-$40 pricing and all showing the same combination of youthful expression and solid cellar potential, the hallmark of this great vintage.

The 94-point 2023 HGIII blend from cult phenom Hourglass is a "charming, sexy beauty" based on Merlot, crafted by winemaker Tony Biagi to be an immediately accessible, captivating expression that Napa fans can indulge in without hesitation. "It's medium to full-bodied, round, supple, and balanced, with some classic Napa richness and depth," notes Jeb Dunnuck.Turnbull's Estate Cab has been one of the most consistent values in Napa for years, and the excellent 2023 vintage produced another "positively stellar" show-stopper to the tune of 93 points from Dunnuck. Wine Advocate's Joe Czerwinski also calls it "a super value and the rare modern-day Napa Cab under $100 that shows potential for further aging."

Of course, Napa's household names also showcase extreme value in 2023. The 94-point 2023 Frank Family Napa Valley Cab is a proven, pedigreed example of classic Napa style and a cool, "old-school" growing season, the likes of which produced many of Napa's legendary wines during the Valley's golden age. The 2023 is "a refined and complete example of Napa cabernet sauvignon showing all the poise and freshness of the cool vintage," as noted by James Suckling. Clos du Val's 2023 is "bright, aromatic, and punchy ... seriously beautiful from start to finish," while the "smooth and textural," 93-point 2023 Silverado appellation bottling offers all the features that have made this estate a fan-favorite for decades.

We'll say it time and time again – finding any Napa red with a rock-solid score and premium pedigree under $40 is a search for a needle and a haystack, but with this line-up of proven overachievers, we've got five needles in hand for savvy Napa fans to stock up on.

A refined and complete example of Napa cabernet sauvignon showing all the poise and freshness of the cool vintage. The palate is taut and austere, with a good core of fruit, fine tannins, a textured mouthfeel and balanced acidity, leading to a savory, mouthwatering finish. Drink or hold.

2023 Hartford Old Vine Zinfandel Highwire Vineyard (750ml)
Zinfandel from Russian River, California

The Hartford Family's roots in Sonoma's Russian River Valley are second to none, and they farm some of the Golden State's most prized plots of old-vine Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay. Their reference-point range runs the gamut from incredible single-vineyard expressions to some of the greatest bang-for-the-buck values in the appellation.

The 2023 Russian River Pinot Noir delivers everything that long-time fans of the estate are looking for. Pure Pinot Noir charm is on full display in vibrant, ripe fruit, silky texture, and, most importantly, superb balance, all at an easy price that makes this undisputed crowd-pleaser accessible to a broad audience. The 2023 Russian River Chardonnay is "a worthy follow-up to the brilliant 2022," displaying classic, richly textured Russian River fruit, vibrant acidic balance, and a luxurious finish that reveals its world-class pedigree. Fans of California Chardonnay may have grown used to overpaying for underwhelming quality, but this 94-point, sub-$20 beauty is ideally suited to buck that trend. Turning to the estate's wheelhouse, don't miss the trio of top-flight, single-vineyard Zinfandels, highlighted by the WS96 Highwire Vineyard from the acclaimed 2023 vintage. "Zin rarely shows this much focus and tenstion," notes Wine Spectator, and we couldn't agree more.

Whether you're looking for an easy everyday go-to or a top-tier reference-point expression for the cellar, this range from Hartford has it in spades.

Zin rarely shows this much focus and refinement. Multilayered raspberry and boysenberry flavors are laced with savory anise, dark spices and briar patch as this builds richness and tension toward fine-grained tannins. Drink now through 2035. 253 cases made.

96 points, Tim Fish, Wine Spectator (Aug 2025)

A darker magenta/ruby color, the 2023 Zinfandel Highwire Vineyard has more depth, with notes of espresso, black cherry liqueur, graphite, cracked pepper, and polished leather. The palate is tangy and ripe with full-bodied richness and an underlying coating texture, with ripe tannins and a plush feel on the finish. There’s more depth and complexity to this wine, and I would be interested in revisiting it in a few years as it sheds its more primary fruit and develops more interesting spice and mineral tones. Drink 2026-2038.

Today's selection presents an incredible treasure trove that showcases the vintage's greatest features at every price in the spectrum, leaving no doubt as to how good 2022 Bordeaux really is.

The 2022 Haut-Bages Libéral is huge and explosive right out of the gate. A rush of dark red cherry/plum fruit, rose petal, blood orange, incense, licorice and mocha saturates the palate. Saline notes extend the mid-palate and finish effortlessly. This is one of the most exuberant, ample wines I have tasted from Claire Villars-Lurton. I would give the 2022 a number of years in bottle to shed some baby fat. Today, it tastes almost like a barrel sample! The purity and primary intensity of the fruit is remarkable. The Haut-Bages Libéral was raised in a combination of 40% new oak, 40% once-used barrels and 20% a mix of concrete and amphora. This is one of the under-the-radar gems of 2022.

97 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Jan 2025)

I loved the 2022 Château Haut-Bages Libéral, a spicy, complex, nuanced Pauillac that has both red and black currants, textbook notes of freshly sharpened pencils, leather, and flowers, medium to full body, a ripe, pure, layered mouthfeel, and remarkable length on the finish. It's beautifully done and well worth seeking out. As with many top Pauillac, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it close down in 3-5 years, only to reemerge 10-12 years after the vintage, with a solid two decades of longevity thereafter.

96 points, Jeb Dunnuck (Feb 2025)

A classic Pauillac nose, showing ripe currants, graphite, pencil shavings and cocoa powder. Full-bodied on the palate, it has a seamless coating of fine, dusty tannins. The wine is broad, dissolved and long, with good drive. Approachable now thanks to its balance and complexity but will be much better after 2027.

96 points, Zekun Shuai, James Suckling (Feb 2025)

Delicate aromatics that have a cool, blue fruit and stony edge. Lifted and lightweight, this has such finesse from the first sip. Nothing heavy or overdone, this is so fruity - pristine and crystalline with all the focus and energy on the purity of the fruit while the frame and undercurrent of minerality comes second. There's power no doubt - hints come in the form of tension, length and slight spice on the finish, but this has the right balance in terms of approachability. Not an estate that generally steals the limelight but this is a joy to drink with signature Pauillac markings alongside owner and winemaker Claire's ability to give her wines such vibrancy and dynamism - something also attributed to the wines being made biodynamically.

2023 La Cayetana El Corazon Manda (750ml)
Malbec from Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina
B-21 Top Recommendation

Among the many exceptional boutique projects popping up in Argentina, it's hard to keep track of which (or how many) new kids on the block to add your list of new discoveries. But if you're going to add any, one of them has to be La Cayetana. The brainchild of Ver Sacrum winemaker Eduardo Soler and his wife, Emilia Armando, this project is in its infancy, having only released their first wines in 2020, but they're already making big waves among the critical press.

"This is a wine of higher expression compared with other reds from Uco Valley. Structured yet unforced, it offers length, balance and quiet authority." - Joaquin Hidalgo, Vinous

Based in Uco Valley just outside of Mendoza proper, Soler has access to some truly excellent vines, from which he makes a few stellar single-vineyard offerings. Chief among them is the 96-point 2023 El Corazon Manda, made from 70-year-old, ungrafted vines in El Cepillo, at the very southern, very cold end of the valley. Nestled at over 1,000 meters in elevation, this site produces otherworldly Malbec fruit, delivering a style that challenges most modern conventions surrounding the varietal. "Dry, vibrant and distinctly chalky, it shows fine-grained tannins and an intense palate that flows with precision toward a long finish." It's a thoroughly beguiling, thought-provoking expression of Malbec that just screams craftsmanship and artistry, and the fact that we can offer it for under $50 just goes to prove that Argentina is still the destination for many of the world's finest wine values.

96V

The 2023 Tinto El Corazón Manda is 100% Malbec from old vines in El Cepillo, Uco Valley. The fruit is ripe but not overripe, delivering a balsamic profile with subtle violet, black cherry and field herb notes. Dry, vibrant and distinctly chalky, it shows fine-grained tannins and an intense palate that flows with precision toward a long finish. This is a wine of higher expression compared with others red from Uco Valley. Structured yet unforced, it offers length, balance and quiet authority.

The 2019 Château Malartic-Lagravière showed brilliantly, with an elegant, pure, flawlessly balanced style. Giving up ripe black cherry, currants, tobacco leaf, and spicy oak, with textbook Graves scorched earth, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a beautiful layered, seamless mouthfeel, great tannins, and one heck of a great finish. It's not a blockbuster, but it excels on its elegance, balance, and complexity. Readers will love to have this in the cellar, and it will keep for 20+ years.

96 points, Jeb Dunnuck (Apr 2022)

The Bonnie family has worked wonders at this estate, producing today one of the top wines of the appellation. This latest release, equally rich in tannins and fruit, is dense, powerful and also elegant. It will age well, and should be ready from 2027.

96 points, Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast (May 2022)

Very complex aromas of dark berries, mushrooms, earth, flowers and incense. Crushed stone, too. Full-bodied with very fine, refined tannins that are caressing and beautiful. It’s very, very long and persistent in the finish with subtle and complex flavors. This will deliver beauty with age. Drink after 2025.

96 points, James Suckling (Feb 2022)

The 2010 Malartic-Lagravière has a classic Left Bank bouquet with cedar and tobacco infused black fruit that unfurl nicely in the glass and gain intensity with every swirl. The palate is silky smooth on the entry, a satin textured Pessac-Léognan with well judged acidity and an intense black cherry and blueberry finish, a tang of sea salt on the aftertaste. Excellent. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 10-Year On Bordeaux horizontal.

The 2019 Château Puygueraud is also terrific, with ripe darker cherry, plum, leafy tobacco and hints of chocolate on the nose. This medium-bodied, rounded, supple, elegant beauty has soft tannins, wonderful balance, and a great finish. Drink it over the coming decade.

Violets and blackberries with hints of spices on the nose. Full body, with soft and velvety tannins and a juicy finish. Drink now or hold. Always excellent value.

A Nicolas Thienpont wine that has a successful mix of Sauvignon Gris and Sauvignon Blanc. Touches of gooseberry, elderflower and nectarine, great tension through the palate, fresh acidites give a mouthwatering finish and this has precision and juice. Easy to recommend and great value.

92 points, Jane Anson (Jan 2022)

Fragranced milk chocolate and black cherries on the nose - a gorgeous smell. Rush of fresh fruity flavours on the palate - blueberries, raspberries and blackcurrants alongside hints of minty, stony bitterness that edge the fruit giving texture and tang. Round with silky tannins. Easy to drink and easy to recommend.

The 2019 Puygueraud exhibits aromas of black cherries, violet and iris, thyme, menthol and touches of spices. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, juicy and vibrant, with delicate aromas of plum and cassis. This vintage can be approached with pleasure, even if it has three to five years of evolution ahead of it.

Wilderness Trail B-21 Barrel Select Cask Strength Bourbon (750ml)

"...a spice-driven, punchy firecracker that's tailor-made to take any Bourbon cocktail to the next-level." - Andrew Kitz, B-21 Spirits Buyer

All too often when we find multiple single casks from the same distillery, the question arises, "What's the difference?" And all too often, it's not readily apparent. Not the case here – our two B-21 casks from Wilderness Trail are just pure, unadulterated fun, showing off two stellar interpretations of a fan-favorite distillery's trademark style.

Last month, we showcased the unabashedly sweet, decadent Wheated cask, a true charmer through and through, and today we're taking things in a whole new direction with a straight Bourbon cask of a decidedly different nature. Likes its sister cask, it's still boasting plenty of Wilderness Trail's patented sweet mash style of distillate, but the high rye content and a year less in barrel make for a profile that's much more centered on spice and punch than on opulent luxury. The ISC #4 Char barrel has a bigger influence on the younger make than in the Wheated, so all manner of vanilla, baking spices, and anise are cranked up to eleven in this one. Layered under all of that is the spicy rye character that just sings in impeccable fashion alongside the more subtle sweetness from the mash bill. You can certainly drink it neat, and we highly recommend it, but you'd be crazy not to try it as the base for your next Old Fashioned or Manhattan, as this cask can stand up next to anything you throw at it.

92AK

This sister cask to our Wilderness Trail Wheated Cask, this one is a straight bourbon classic that offers a fascinating juxtaposition to the luxuriously sweet character of the Wheated. Similar corn bases for the mash bill, but this one showcases rye in stead of wheat, of course. The distillery’s trademark sweet mash style is still at the center of everything, but at a year less in barrel than the Wheated, this is just a spice-driven, punchy firecracker that’s tailor-made to take any Bourbon cocktail to the next-level. Spicy cedar, vanilla pod, and clove lead on the nose with real intensity, and while there’s some heat, it blows off just fine with a little air. Cinnamon, pie crust, and kettle corn soon jump out in clear fashion, but there’s plenty of room for more nuanced notes of burnt toffee, smoky wood resin, citrus potpourri, candied apple, and spicy ginger root. The palate is clearly built on – you guessed it – warming spices all the way through. Red licorice, dark molasses, clove, and anise make for really intriguing complexity and a flavor profile that lends itself extremely well to mixing. Touches of the sweet stuff can be found in background hints of caramelized apple and black cherry syrup, which are perfectly at home on a texture of rich viscosity and great balance. If you’re going to try one, then try both. The kind of idiosyncratic personality we find in these casks is what makes single-barrel bourbon so much fun.

2023 Vincent Paris Cornas La Geynale (750ml)
Syrah from Cornas, Rhône, France

"Vincent Paris continues to craft distinctive, age-worthy Cornas, as evidenced once again during my most recent visit..." - Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous

Our direct-import portfolio has taken some major steps in the past year and landed some big names, and now we can add Cornas icon Vincent Paris to that list. Thanks to some very fortuitous connections, we gained domaine-direct access to this perennial superstar producer and his benchmark wines. The outstanding 2023s have just landed in stock.

Made from Paris' younger parcels on 30% slopes (and now with vines almost 30 years old), the 96-point 2023 Granit 30 exhibits fantastic signature elements of its granitic soils, as well as Paris' ultrafine winemaker's touch. "This is always the most forward and approachable of Paris's cuvées and will put a smile on your face right out of the gate," declares Dunnuck. Paris' wines are renowned for their cellar potential, but that doesn't mean you can't pop and pour the Granit 30 tonight. After all, it's "an accessible Cornas that’s packed with remarkable energy and freshness all the way through," so stocking the cellar is an easy choice.

Next up, as the name suggests, the 97-point 2023 Granit 60 comes from three plots of old-vines on steep granite slopes, densely planted and low-yielding. Paris' winemaking methods are traditional yet meticulous, so he's able to showcase his prime terroir in crystal-clear fashion in each of his wines. There's tons of Cornas soul here, but the wines avoid the rustic, untamed nature that's sometimes associated with this appellation. Instead, we get ""a full-bodied 2023 that's beautifully balanced, elegant, and layered ... another smoking value from this incredibly talented vigneron." according to Dunnuck.

Finally, boasting serious press from prominent voices like Suckling, Dunnuck, and Vinous among others, the 98-point 2023 Geynale is an outstanding collectible proposition that ranks with the region's elite names. This magnificent showstopper, made from the oldest vines in two of Cornas' most prized sites, is "full-bodied on the palate, with ripe tannins, the classic, wild, sauvage character of the appellation, and a great finish," while Wine Spectator declares, "Massive in scale yet achieves perfect harmony between its ripeness, texture and energy."

We brought a staggering number of top-tier domaines into our direct-import fold in 2025, but Vincent Paris might just take the cake. These wines are built to age with incredible panache, so make room, stash a few away, and get ready to enjoy some of the most consistently excellent Northern Rhône Syrahs on the market.

98JS 96D 96JD 95WA 95V 94WS

Smoky and meaty, with intense wild herb character, this is classic Cornas, but with modern purity and precision. Giant concentration and brilliance on the very compact and still tightly wound, medium- to full-bodied palate. Extremely fine tannins. Even at this very early stage in the wine's life, the finish has tremendous spiciness. From a single parcel of 50-year-old vines. Drinkable now, but best from 2027.

98 points, Stuart Pigott, James Suckling (Apr 2025)

Beautiful nose, very lifted, with violets, black olive, blackberry and cassis. Has a good sense of fullness and ripeness on the palate – it's full, powerful, fresh and driving with a good, robust tannic frame and a long finish. It's not as massive as some years, but very well balanced. A Cornas with lovely finesse of fruit and enjoyably robust tannins. It doesn't have the concentration of the more powerful years, but it's still very good, and true to place. 100% whole bunches, no new oak.

96 points, Matt Walls, Decanter (Sep 2024)

The 2023 Cornas La Geynale is clearly a standout. Rocking levels of ripe red, blue, and black fruits, peppery herbs, violet, game, and rare meat-like aromatics all shine here, and it's full-bodied on the palate, with ripe tannins, the classic, wild, sauvage character of the appellation, and a great finish. Fermented with 100% whole clusters and aged in used oak, it's going to need 4-6 years of bottle age, but it's beautiful.

94-96+ points, Jeb Dunnuck (May 2025)

Fermented with whole clusters, the 2023 Cornas La Geynale is another success at this address. Unfurling from the glass with aromas of violet, dark berries, mulberries, spices and lead pencil mingled with licorice, it’s medium- to full-bodied, dense and generous, built around a fleshy, well-balanced core of fruit framed by velvety tannins and a seamless structure, concluding with a long, mineral finish. Purer and without phenolic elements that obscure its telluric identity, this captures the essence of La Geynale.

95 points, Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate (May 2026)

The seductive, intricate perfume of the 2023 Cornas La Geynale suggests that what comes next will be a total delight. Hauntingly floral, the 2023 showcases prominent rose water, violet and orange blossom mixed with raspberry compote, licorice and a touch of graphite. Full-bodied, powerful and deep, the 2023 simply says, "Watch me." I will!

93-95 points, Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous (Jan 2025)

There’s a meaty, smoky, peppery edge to this salty, powerhouse Cornas. Massive in scale yet achieves perfect harmony between its ripeness, texture and energy. Juniper, black pepper, grilled garrigue and apple wood smoke play out over the persistent finish, held in check by fine-yet-muscular tannins and firming spine of iron. Excellent. Best from 2028 through 2040. 20 cases imported.

"...the [2024s] have beautiful concentration and real tension. Well done." - Anne Krebiehl, Vinous

Arguably one of the top three estate in the Wachau, Rudi Pichler is a unanimous reference-point for the region, and there are few, if any, estates that have the same wherewithal to spin absolute gold out of a difficult vintage. Old vines, steep slopes, and Rudi's uncompromising, meticulous skills turned out a range of stunning expressions that are easily among the best in the category.

From the beautifully balanced, 94-point Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Terrassen to the towering excellence of the 98-point Riesling and Grüner Smaragds from the Achleiten site, the entire range is comprised of must-have benchmarks for serious Austrian fans. Savvy buyers will not overlook the "exquisite purity and expression" of the double 96-point Riesling Smaragd Kirchweg or the equally "stunning" Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Kollmutz.

These are just a few of the highlights in an entire line-up that sets the bar for the vintage, and to top it all off, don't miss the very last stocks of the equally prodigious 2023s, still available at remarkable pricing.

Such an expressive and elegant gruner veltliner. Yes, it has those classic peppery aromas on the medium-bodied palate, but there’s also an entire floral dimension that makes it stand out so prominently. Then comes the extremely long, silky and refined finish that’s incredibly sensuous. Sustainable. Drink or hold.

The 2023 Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Achleiten Smaragd is from over 80-year-old vines, rooting Gföhler gneiss. An initial flicker of citrus sets an immediate tone of freshness. "Zind-Humbrecht is one of the most famous domaines in Alsace – deservedly so ... No matter what variety, the expressions are layered and pure." - Anne Krebiehl MW, Vinous

Just landed in stock, we have a thrilling range of 2023s from one of France's benchmark domaines. Zind-Humbrecht is unquestionably one of the three most iconic domaines in Alsace, routinely racking up huge press and glowing accolades up and down their comprehensive line-up.

As expected, the 2023s show out in fine form, the warm vintage balanced by Pierre-Emile Humbrecht's highly finessed winemaking. The domaine's exquisite terroirs all acquit themselves with extraordinary class and precision, starting wth the Roche series, which are simply declassified younger vines in the domaine's priceless Grand Cru holdings. The 95-point Roche Calcaire Riesling is "taut, lemony, long, streamlined and tightly coiled—a wellspring of freshness," per Anne Krebiehl, while the "very dynamic and driving" 95-point Roche Volcanique Pinot Gris shows the noble varietal's exceptional class.

Of course, for anyone seeking the apex of Alsace, the grands crus from Clos St-Urbain plot in the Rangen de Thann are the only way to go. The 2023 Riesling Clos St-Urbain flirts with perfection with 99 points from Stuart Pigott and 98 points from Krebiehl, A wine of "gigantic concentration, elegance and finesse," it showcases what Alsace Riesling is all about. The "incredible" 2023 Pinot Gris Clos St-Urbain actually hits perfection, with 100 points from Pigott, who declares, "The brain-rattling concentration, smokiness and flinty energy of this unique dry pinot gris don’t fit in any box on this planet." Both of these selections are naturally among the world's finest, most long-lived collectible whites anywhere.

These are just a few highlights from a truly stellar range of timeless classics that astute collectors will be thrilled to own in the years to come.

Gigantic concentration, elegance and finesse. The smokiness floats like a cloud over the deep dark waters of this unique wine. The spiciness is so delicate and fascinating, and although the texture is super silky, the dark minerality gives this an almost supernatural intensity in the finish. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but best from 2026.

99 points, Stuart Pigott, James Suckling (May 2025)

The 2023 Riesling Rangen de Thann Clos Saint Urbain Grand Cru is from this steep, iconic site in the far south of Alsace. Smokiness mixes with notions of green citrus on the nose, aromatic, vivid, enticing and lifted. The palate is pure, crystalline, chiseled, uncompromising and precise. This is long, pervasive and energetic, always with that gorgeous smokiness. If you can imagine drinking stone, this is it, yet with a flowing charm. (Bone-dry)

2023 Veyder-Malberg Riesling Bruck (750ml)
Riesling from Wachau, Lower Austria, Austria
B-21 Top Recommendation

Peter Veyder-Malberg’s 2023 Riesling Bruck is simply stunning. Like his other wines, it demands time, it demands proper temperature, and it demands attention. When all three conditions are met, you’re rewarded with a Riesling of absolutely beguiling delicacy, shimmering personality, and generally jaw-dropping finesse. The Bruck is cool and shy at first, but as it airs out, the mica-schist bedrock and 350m elevation show their stuff. An incredible core of head-turning, perfumed floral aromas and crystal-clear minerality defies description, with secondary notes of kaffir lime leaf, lilies, and cardamom spice eventually coming out. The filigreed, laser-precise palate is a thing of almost surreal beauty, completely enthralling yet weightless in feel and texture. Again, the nascent complexity is really something to get lost in – if you pay attention to it. More crystalline minerality is the foundation for soaring, high-note floral flavors like iris, honeysuckle, and geranium. The fruit is almost an afterthought, but notes of melon rind, lime zest, and yuzu are integrated so well into all the mineral/floral complexity, but they really pop on the medium-length finish. I will admit, it was so light and delicate at first that I didn’t know what to think, but it quickly blossomed into one of the most intriguing Austrian Rieslings I’ve had in a while. Based on this showing, Veyder-Malberg is indeed as mad and as genius as they say he is.

2019 Chateau Branaire-Ducru (750ml)
Cabernet Sauvignon from Saint-Julien, Bordeaux, France

95WA 95V 95JS 94WS 94JA 93WI

The 2019 Branaire-Ducru unwinds in the glass with aromas of raspberries, blackcurrants, sweet soil tones and hints of cigar wrapper, rose petals and cedar. Medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, it's youthfully tightly wound, with terrific concentration, tangy acids, powdery tannins and a long, saline finish. While this is a little reserved out of the gates, its energy and classical proportions will richly reward bottle age.

95 points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate (Apr 2022)

The 2019 Branaire-Ducru is rich, layered and sumptuous. Black cherry, licorice, spice, leather tobacco and tar build effortlessly in the glass. The 2019 impresses with its density and pure power, which makes it perhaps atypical for Branaire by its historic standards, but it may be the direction the château seems to be headed in. The aromatics are a bit closed right now, but time in bottle should help take care of that.

95 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Feb 2022)

Very clear fruit character of blackcurrants, orange peel and spices. Some walnut, too. It’s full-bodied with integrated, polished tannins and shows finesse and focus. Love the focused fruit at the end of this. Strength with finesse. Give it four to five years of bottle age. Try after 2024.

95 points, James Suckling (Dec 2021)

Leads with vivid violet and cassis, while dark plum, blackberry and boysenberry reduction notes follow quickly. Racy, structured and well-built, with graphite and apple wood driving through the finish. Very pure and aromatic, featuring a nice sanguine echo that lingers at the very end. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2025 through 2038. 13,000 cases made, 1,950 cases imported.

94 points, James Molesworth, Wine Spectator (Mar 2022)

One of the more discreet St Juliens, undergoing a great resurgence right now, and this stands out for its quality and value. Tobacco leaf, baked earth, crushed rocks, crayon and mint leaf set against blueberry and cassis fruits. Balanced, with the finesse of the appellation. Ideally this is put away for another four years or so, but it has the delicacy that makes it just about approachable if you can't wait. I drank it with friends a few months ago, and nobody was complaining. 43hl/h yield.

94 points, Jane Anson (Dec 2023)

The 2019 Branaire-Ducru is a blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, and 4% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, it flies out of the glass with notes of crushed blackcurrants, black cherries, and stewed plums, plus wafts of rose oil, cinnamon toast, and fragrant earth. The medium-bodied palate is juicy and plush, with lively acidity and a spicy finish.

Today's selection presents an incredible treasure trove that showcases the vintage's greatest features at every price in the spectrum, leaving no doubt as to how good 2022 Bordeaux really is.

Licorice with tapenade, cassis, roasted spices and a touch of bergamot and pencil shavings. Full-bodied and structured, this has filigreed tannins in a very dusty, almost powdery form. Really youthful and long. Juicy and compact with spot-on balance. 79% cabernet sauvignon, 21% merlot. Give it at least three years to unwind and develop complexity.

97 points, Zekun Shuai, James Suckling (Jan 2025)

Rose buds, cassis, crayon, mint leaf, graphite, black tea, this is full of classic Pauillac character in a vintage where that is not a given. It has ridden confidently through ageing and I am still fully on board. Easy to recommend, great stuff. 60% of production in the 1st wine, Eric Boissenot consultant, 75% new oak.

97 points, Jane Anson (Mar 2025)

The 2022 Grand Puy Lacoste, observed out of barrel, offers a more sensual and generous bouquet than previous vintages, with blackberry, bilberry and cedar scents emerging from the glass with a hint of pencil box underneath. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, showing more structure than it did from barrel, which is precisely what you want from this Pauillac estate. Tobacco and graphite notes towards the finish linger beautifully in classical style. This is a very impressive wine that will mature with panache and stature.

96 points, Neal Martin, Vinous (Feb 2025)

This version shows the floral side of the vintage, with a vibrant mix of iris, violet and rose petal notes leading the way, backed by a core of pure and racy red and black currant preserves. There's a well-integrated singed cedar note running along its flanks and a long beam of iron driving the finish. Textbook. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best from 2026 through 2042. 10,000 cases made.

96 points, James Molesworth, Wine Spectator (May 2025)

The grand vin here is 79% Cabernet Sauvignon and 21% Merlot, and the élevage was in 75% new oak for 16 to 18 months. This possesses a gorgeous nose, one which seems to evoke the rich and dark fruit of the vintage as well as the fresh and gravelly terroir of this corner of Pauillac, with fragrant notes of mint, bay leaf and dried flowers laid over charming dark cherry notes and crushed gravel, all dressed with little notes of sandalwood and toast. This is all about the pure, fresh and charming fruit, with damson, red plum and black pepper on the palate, the fine textural quality of the palate resting on an imposing and ripe but dry and tightly knit tannic structure. A beautiful example of what can be achieved on the western gravels of the Grand Puy, this is an impressive vintage from Grand-Puy-Lacoste, one built for the cellar;come back to this one in 10 or 15 years. Tasted three times. The alcohol is 14% on the label.

96 points, Chris Kissack, Wine Independent (Jun 2025)

Vibrant floral scents on the nose - roses and violets with blackcurrants, dried herbs and chocolate. Smooth and round on the palate, this has an excellent weight in the mouth - silky tannins, fleshy cherry fruit, cushioning acidity and subtle spice all combines to give such a delicious mouthful of wine that feels cool and classic which wasn't easy in 2022. It has the Pauillac power but with real charm and drinkability. Well constructed and characterful with mineral markers in the wet stone and graphite as well as tobacco, tar, clove and espresso. I loved this wine En Primeur and it has totally delivered after ageing. A joy to drink and this will also age supremely well.

96 points, Georgina Hindle, Decanter (Jan 2025)

The 2022 Grand-Puy-Lacoste has turned out nicely in bottle, unwinding in the glass with aromas of cassis and plums mingled with notions of rose petal, tobacco leaf and pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, bright and velvety, with a layered core of fruit and powdery structuring tannins, it's beautifully balanced.

2023 Vincent Paris Cornas Granit 30 (750ml)

96JS 93JD 92WS 92D 92V 90WA

This wine redefines Cornas elegance. So much floral and fresh berry charm on the nose, yet so much mineral intensity and energy on the very focused, medium-bodied palate. The crystalline finish just doesn't want to stop. Drink or hold.

96 points, Stuart Pigott, James Suckling (Apr 2025)

The 2023 Cornas Granit 30 shows beautifully, with both red and blue fruits as well as leafy herbs, spice, and exotic floral notes. Coming from the lower slopes near the village, it's medium to full-bodied, has a pure, layered mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. This is always the most forward and approachable of Paris's cuvées and will put a smile on your face right out of the gate.

91-93 points, Jeb Dunnuck (May 2025)

Shows classic Cornas muscle and aromatic character, with plum and smoked bacon notes revealing salty depth and energy. The tannins are nicely softened at the edges, while violet and lavender add beautiful floral lift. Cool stone minerality and white pepper course from start to finish. Elegant and serious. Drink now through 2040. 60 cases imported.

92 points, Kristen Bieler, Wine Spectator (Nov 2025)

This has a nice sense of freshness; there's a touch of roundness on the palate, the fruit is certainly ripe and the acidity quite marked. The Cornas tannins are present, giving a cleansing sensation on the tongue. Medium length, compact, ripe and juicy, this will drink well young. Almost all destemmed, perhaps 5% whole bunches. Tasted from a five-year-old barrel.

92 points, Matt Walls, Decanter (Sep 2024)

The 2023 Cornas Granit 30 is exquisite, unwinding with alluring rose water, blood orange, black cherry, licorice and stemmy subtleties. Round and refreshing, the 2023 is shaping up to be an accessible Cornas that’s packed with remarkable energy and freshness all the way through to the juicy finish.

90-92 points, Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous (Jan 2025)

Perfumed and lively, the 2023 Cornas Granit 30 wafts from the glass with aromas of violet, dark berries, plum, spices and pepper. Medium- to full-bodied, generous and enveloping, it’s built around a core of fruit with good depth, framed by velvety tannins and concluding with a long, mineral and fresh finish. It's a fine introduction to Vincent Paris’s style.
