2021 Kosta Browne Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (750ml)
Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast, California

Described by Antonio Galloni of Vinous as “exuberant, deeply expressive wines,” the 96 pt. 2021 Kosta Browne Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir and 94 pt. 2021 Kosta Browne Russian River Pinot Noir live up to the estate’s long-standing reputation for crafting rich and refined California Pinot Noirs, a pair of top scoring, age worthy Pinots from an outstanding Sonoma vintage ready to enjoy over the next decade at best on the market pricing.

Establishing their winemaking venture in 1997 in Santa Rosa with a portion of their restaurant tips, founders Dan Kosta and Michael Browne became known for producing cult favorite Pinot Noirs in the mid 2000’s, the Sonoma Coast and Russian River cuvees consistently garnering critical acclaim over the past two decades and now available in limited amounts outside of the winery’s exclusive member list under the ownership of Duckhorn Family Wines. Sourced from a celebrated Sonoma vintage featuring “greater concentration, structure and definition” according to the Wine Spectator’s James Molesworth, Kosta Browne winemaker Julien Howsepian fermented the tiny, ripe Pinot Noir berries in a mix of stainless steel, wood and concrete to create a bold and sophisticated style of California Pinot with intense flavors and bright acidity while maintaining impressive balance. Blended from eight prime vineyards throughout the coastal appellation including Gaps Crown, the 2021 Kosta Browne Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir was aged in 38% new French oak for 15 months along with smaller amounts in wood cask and 1% new Austrian oak, yielding lightly spiced, concentrated red fruit with “grainy tannins and seamless freshness” according to the Wine Advocate’s Erin Brooks built to evolve over the next decade. Described as boasting “a classic feel with a long finish” by Jeb Dunnuck critic Audrey Frick, the 2021 Kosta Brown Russian River Pinot Noir was sourced from eight fog-influenced vineyards including Zio Tony and Keefer Ranch and aged in 34% new French oak for 15 months, revealing rich, earthy dark fruit with bright acidity and layers of ripe tannins promising a decade of evolution.

Reflecting on its decades’ long reputation as a top Pinot producer, winemaker Julien Howsepian regards his team as the “torchbearers of Kosta Browne’s legacy of artistry and innovation,” these 2021 Kosta Browne selections living up to the legacy and promising California Pinot fans who stock the cellar a decade of pleasurable drinking ahead.

The 2021 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is floral with perfume and ripe red berries, as well as notes of framboise, rosemary, and incense. Offering fantastic balance, with fine tannins, fresh seamless acidity, and a good purity of fruit, this is a very attractive wine now and will continue to provide prime drinking over the next 12 or more years.

96 points, Audrey Frick, Jeb Dunnuck (Jul 2023)

The 2021 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast was matured in 39% new oak for 15 months. The nose opens slowly from allspice and brown sugar to a core of red cherry and cranberry, tea leaves and lavender. The medium-bodied palate offers surprisingly concentrated fruit supported by grainy tannins and seamless freshness, and it has a long, spicy finish.

2020 Clos des Papes Rouge (750ml)
Grenache from Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Rhône, France

The Avril family, their renowned parcels planted adjacent to the ruins of the old papal towers in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, have been consistently bottling brilliant wines for decades. Among my very favorites – my personal collection spans multiple vintages – these are wines of unmistakable breed and character; a complete joy to experience. Originally established in the 18th century, their primary parcel is augmented by seventeen old vine plots throughout the appellation, adding further dimension to a wine already at the very highest levels of quality. Over the last few vintages, my notes indicate ever improved character. Paul-Vincent has bottled even more in a long line of rock stars. Draconian selections followed daily passes through each of his parcels, painstakingly clipping each vine for nothing but the very finest berries.

"A very Clos des Papes vintage," says Vincent Avril, and I know what he means - a vintage that naturally delivers the kind of fresh, elegant wines that this estate is famous for. A tasting of several foudres point to a wine with natural, easy balance. The Mourvèdre is excellent here this year, and adds great depth to the fresh and delightful Grenache that has notes of black tea, black cherry and iron. Elegant and very fine.

98 points, Matt Walls, Decanter (Sep 2021)

Beguiling, with a plume of black tea and incense leading off, followed by warmed black cherry reduction, cassis, melted black licorice, warm earth and singed tobacco and garrigue accents. Offers breadth and depth with a seamless feel, capped by a subtle mineral edge that lingers lengthily amid the beautiful fruit. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Best from 2024 through 2040.

2019 Andremily EABA (750ml)
Syrah from California
B-21 Top Recommendation

Crafted by the former assistant winemaker at legendary cult producer Sine Qua Non for “fans of big, concentrated, nuanced Rhone Ranger styles” according to the Wine Independent’s Lisa Perrotti-Brown, these top scoring Andremily selections offer a range of red and white wines “built on textural opulence” according to Antonio Galloni of Vinous, a rare opportunity for Cali Rhone fans and collectors to acquire wines typically reserved for their mailing list including exclusive back vintage magnum sets at unbeatable value pricing.

After achieving a staggering twenty-seven 100 point scores during his tenure with winemaker Manfred Krankl at Sine Qua Non, Jim Binns established Andremily in 2012 on the outskirts of Ventura California just south of Santa Barbara, naming it for the combination of his two children’s names, Andrew and Emily and devoting his full attention to his Central Coast project in 2017. Sourcing grapes from top Santa Barbara vineyards including the legendary Bien Nacido and White Hawk, Jim has also expanded his use of estate grown fruit since his recent purchase of the 39-acre Slide Hill Vineyard in Edna Valley, a move that has had “a profound impact on the wine” according to Antonio Galloni of Vinous with the wines revealing “more nuance and delineation.” A blend of 40% Chardonnay, 26% Roussanne, 19% Marsanne, and 15% Viognier, the 97 pt. 2021 Andremily White Cuvee is described by Jeb Dunnuck as a “ripe, sexy, yet pure and flawlessly balanced white should be snatched up by readers, while the 97 pt. 2019 Andremily EABA “End All Be All” blend of mostly Syrah with Mourvedre is an “outrageously beautiful ample wine that captures the Andremily style at its best” according to Antonio Galloni of Vinous. From “an undeniably great vintage throughout the Central Coast that will be loved by those who prioritize finesse and elegance,” Jeb Dunnuck calls the 97 pt. 2021 Andremily #10 Syrah “stunningly complex even at this young age” with full-bodied richness “and a finish that won’t quit,” while the 100 pt. 2021 Andremily Mourvedre, blended with 12% Syrah including fruit comes from the Slide Hill estate vineyard, boasts “solid tannins, perfect balance, and a great finish” and promises “two decades of longevity” according to Dunnuck. Offered as a set of two magnums, the exceptional 97 pt. 2019 Andremily EABA is paired with the stunning 97 pt. 2019 Grenache, described as “dark, bold and luscious” by Antonio Galloni of Vinous with “a seamless, layered texture, beautiful tannins, and a great finish” according to the Wine Advocate’s Erin Brooks. A magnum duo from the 2020 vintage, the 97 pt. 2020 Andremily #9 Syrah boasts “a ripe, lush texture, solid tannins, and a great finish” according to Jeb Dunnuck, while the “simply stunning” 100 pt. 2020 Andremily Mourvedre is crafted by “one of a handful of the finest Mourvedre artisans in the world” according to the Wine Independent’s Lisa Perrotti-Brown, an elegantly rich and deeply structured wine inspired by Beaucastel’s Hommage a Jacques Perrin.

Crafted in “a rich, unctuous style, with extended maceration and tons of depth,” Antonio Galloni describes the Andremily portfolio as “incredibly exciting” while Jeb Dunnuck calls them “stunningly singular wines” that “readers should not miss,” these small production, top rated Andremily blends from incredibly talented winemaker Jim Binns priced well below cult favorite Sine Qua Non to deliver exceptional value for California Rhone fans.

97WA 97JD

The 2019 EABA ("end all be all") is a blend of 61% Syrah, 24% Mourvèdre, 13% Grenache and 2% Viognier and was made with 65% whole clusters. Fruit comes from several vineyards in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, including Bien Nacido, White Hawk, Larner, Harrison-Clarke, G2 and Alta Mesa. It was matured for about 22 months in 55% new French barriques and 600-liter demi-muids and 45% used French barriques, and it was bottled on August 21, 2021. Opaque ruby-purple in color, it offers beautiful, pure scents of licorice, tar, blueberry and black cherry jam, charcuterie, pepper, olive and fried savory herbs, offering up more nuances as it spends time in the glass. Medium-bodied, it has abundant, super-fine tannins, seamless acidity and slowly expanding, spicy flavor layers, finishing very long and alluringly floral. Its notable length, detail and latency suggest this will continue to improve in bottle over the next 5-7 years and will be long lived in the cellar.

97+ points, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate (May 2022)

The 2019 EABA shows the cooler, elegant style of the vintage yet still has classic Jim Binns texture and opulence. Black cherries, kirsch liqueur, roasted herbs, sandalwood, and hints of white pepper define the bouquet, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a pure, elegant mouthfeel and a gorgeous finish. This cooler-climate, perfumed, complex, satisfying Syrah blend will evolve for 15-20 years if well stored. The blend is 61% Syrah, 24% Mourvèdre, 13% Grenache, and the rest Viognier that saw 65% stems and 22 months in 55% new barrels.

Produced in the northeast corner of the Russian River Valley with its oldest vines dating back to 1910, the bright and juicy 93 pt. 2021 Limerick Lane Zinfandel is “an absolute winner” according to Antonio Galloni of Vinous that's “packed with varietal character," boasting the structure to evolve over the next few years. Named for founder Lee Martinelli’s grandparents who first planted grapes in the Russian River in the 1880’s, the rich and elegant 97 pt. 2021 Martinelli Zinfandel Giuseppe & Luisa Vineyard offers alluring aromatic fruit layered with spice and fresh juicy acidity, while the richly textured 95 pt. 2021 Limerick Lane Zinfandel 1910 Block from the estate's oldest block of vines is “a gutsy version, built in an old-school style” according to the Wine Spectator’s Tim Fish, both powerfully built Zins that will evolve for another decade.

From a cooler, uneventful growing season that “resulted in especially elegant, expressive wines” according to the Wine Advocate’s Erin Brooks, these highly rated, site-expressive 2021 Zinfandels offer an appealing range of styles and age-ability from diverse vineyards that include some of the region’s top old vine sites, all value priced and promising Zin fans who stock up some delicious drinking ahead.

93JD 93WS 91V

A bright saturated ruby, the 2021 Zinfandel Russian River Valley is lifted with fresh aromas of candied peach, grenadine, and pressed red flowers. Medium to full-bodied, with great energy in its notes of fresh mixed berries, gravelly earth, and mocha, it’s an elegant wine with fine tannins, a stony texture, and a good, clean finish. It’s a fantastic entry to the wines from Limerick Lane to drink over the next several years.

93 points, Audrey Frick, Jeb Dunnuck (Jul 2023)

Fragrant and vibrantly structured, with expressive raspberry, green peppercorn and roasted sage flavors that build richness and tension toward briary tannins. Drink now through 2031. 1,435 cases made.

2020 Chateau Les Trois Croix (750ml)
Merlot from Fronsac, Bordeaux, France
B-21 Top Recommendation

A newly arriving container filled with top rated Bordeaux, these 2020 Bordeaux selections boast outstanding quality across the board at unparalleled value pricing, from a vintage of “brilliant wines” according to the Wine Advocate’s William Kelley and described by Vinous critic Antonio Galloni as “a year brimming with phenomenal wines at all levels, from the big names down to bottles the average consumer can still afford to purchase by the case.”

Although there were no significant heat spikes throughout the growing season, 2020 was a warm growing season overall in Bordeaux, with generally well-timed rain in the Spring followed by extremely dry summer weather that prevented the development of mildew. While summer drought conditions led to smaller berries and yields for Cabernet Sauvignon, mid-August rains on the Right Bank plumped up Merlot and cool September evenings during the last phase of ripening preserved freshness in the wines. Inside Bordeaux’s Jane Anson noted that “clay-limestone soils did brilliantly against the heat of the summer, favoring the St Emilion plateau” with an impressive array of wines also coming from the gravel soils of Pauillac and St Julien. Describing the white wines of 2020, Anson declares there are “plenty of delicious bottles,” the earlier harvest delivering “exotic fruit flavors with grip and personality.” Describing 2020 as “an incredibly exciting vintage for Bordeaux,” Antonio Galloni of Vinous finds remarkable quality in each of the Left Bank appellations, while calling Saint Emilion “one of the sweet spots of 2020” and noting “readers will find a bevy of compelling wines from satellite appellations” including Haut-Medoc and Fronsac. Called “an incredible classic vintage” by Jeb Dunnuck producing “a solid swath of cellar-worthy buys in the $65-and-under range” according to the Wine Spectator’s James Molesworth, critic James Suckling summed up the vintage well, declaring “if you buy or drink a bottle of top-rated 2020 Bordeaux, you are going to be more than happy. In fact, you most likely will be elated” and noting “many of the wines give pleasure for a young wine but the best will age for decades ahead.”

Summing it up as “a great modern-day Bordeaux vintage,” Antonio Galloni notes the wines are “less extracted, more vibrant and, frankly, much more fun to drink,” this well priced, wide-ranging offer a terrific opportunity to stock up on an array of age worthy Bordeaux from an exceptional 2020 vintage that according to Neal Martin of Vinous “delivers the goods.”

94WI 93V 92WS

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2020 Les Trois Croix sings of crushed blueberries and black cherries, followed by suggestions of raspberry leaves, tar, and violets with a touch of garrigue. The medium to full-bodied palate is beautifully balanced, with energetic black fruits and lovely tension, finishing long and minerally.

94 points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Independent (Mar 2023)

The 2020 Les Trois Croix has maintained a wonderful bouquet with bright blackberry and wild strawberry scents, hints of cedar and graphite emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, very well-judged acidity, taut and crisp with a slightly granular, graphite-tinged finish that gives it Pauillac-like allure. Superb.

93 points, Neal Martin, Vinous (Feb 2023)

A sleek, fresh style, with a fruit-driven persona that emphasizes plum and red currant notes set against a backdrop of violet and savory hints. Reveals chalky minerality that pierces the fruit nicely on the finish. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2024 through 2033. 2021 I Greppi Greppicante (750ml)
Merlot from Bolgheri, Tuscany, Italy
B-21 Top Recommendation

Crafted in the heart of coastal Maremma near the Tyrrhenian Sea, the rich and luxurious 93 pt. 2021 I Greppi Greppicante offers fragrant decadent fruit hinting of wild herbs with layers of lush tannins, a powerful, Bordeaux-influenced blend and a true Super Tuscan bargain priced to reach for again and again.

Established as a joint project between the Landini Family of Fattoria Viticcio in Chianti and the Cancellieri-Scaramuzzi family, I Greppi is located in Bolgheri around Castagneto Carducci about halfway between high profile producers Guado al Tasso and Grattamaco, overseen by Alessandro Landini under the ownership of an investment group since 2017. Located below the towering hills of the Bolgheri Amphitheater a few kilometers from the region’s iconic cypress-lined Viale dei Cipressi, the vineyard is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc in Bolgheri’s mix of sand and clay soils, benefiting from the biodiverse effects of two nearby lakes combined with sea breezes and elevation that extend ripening and yield rich concentration. A blend of mostly Merlot with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2020 Greppicante was fermented in a mix of stainless steel and French oak and aged for 12 months in second and third year French oak barriques followed by six months in bottle, its lush powerful core of Merlot fruit balanced by crisp integrated acidity and refined tannins that promise an intriguing evolution over the next decade.

Boasting “tons of Maremma personality at far more accessible prices than so many other wines in the region” according to Antonio Galloni of Vinous, the bold and appealing 93 pt. 2021 I Greppi Greppicante offers a winning combination of drinkability and age-ability for Italian wine lovers seeking a classic Super Tuscan at an outstanding value to savor for years to come.

93JD 93JS 93WI

A saturated red/magenta color, the 2021 Greppicante is ripe with aromas of black olive, cassis, sandalwood, and toasted rosemary. Fleshy and full-bodied, it expands on the palate, with ripe tannins and fresh acidity. A noble and very serious Rosso structured for the long haul, I would hold this one a couple of years and drink 2025-2040, as its tannins are really holding on at this stage.

93 points, Audrey Frick, Jeb Dunnuck (Jan 2024)

Blackcurrant and rose petal with some lavender and sage flower undertones. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins that are polished and beautiful. Orange peel undertone. Subtle and refined. Very drinkable but better in 2023.

93 points, James Suckling (Aug 2023)

This 2021 I Greppi Bolgheri Rosso Greppicante has a youthful, vivid ruby color. The nose is still a little unformed, hesitating between smoky, bitter cherry, flint and oak spice. There’s a very elegant weight and texture on the palate and it flows beautifully without feeling heavy or over extracted. There is just a lovely ease about this wine that is punctuated by slightly sharp, tart cherry flavors and bitter cherry notes. The tannins are elegant and there is a vivid thread of acidity running through it. This is a tasty, sappy lively, wine of elegant proportions with a lovely, lingering finish.

2014 Chateau Leoville Poyferre (750ml)
Cabernet Sauvignon from Saint-Julien, Bordeaux, France
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

Sourced from over 80 hectares of estate vineyards in some of St. Julien’s best terroir, these exceptional vintages from Chateau Leoville-Poyferre boast Cabernet’s Sauvignon’s expressive dark fruit with elegant textured minerality and smooth, silky tannins, all luxurious, balanced Left Bank Bordeaux blends earning 94 plus point ratings and delivered ex-Chateau in perfect provenance at impressive value pricing.

While dating back to 1638, Chateau Leoville-Poyferre’s modern renaissance began in 1979, when Didier Cuvelier became the first member of his family to take charge of the estate after studying winemaking under the legendary Emile Peynaud. Implementing an extensive renovation of the vineyards with massive replanting and nearly doubling the estate’s holdings, Didier hired renowned consultant Michel Rolland to manage the harvest and refine the final blend, shifting the estate’s emphasis to Cabernet Sauvignon and crafting the Grand Vin in a richer, more opulent style by harvesting later to ensure even ripening.

Revisiting it at a retrospective tasting in 2021, James Suckling describes the full-bodied 100 pt. 2009 Leoville-Poyferre as “A red that gives wonderful pleasure now but will continue to do so for decades ahead.” Vinous critic Antonio Galloni calls the 95 pt. 2014 Leoville-Poyferre “Gorgeous” and “Super impressive” while Jeb Dunnuck describes the 97 pt. 2015 Leoville-Poyferre as an “unctuous, ripe, pedal-to-the-metal beauty." Dunnuck calls the 98 pt. 2016 Leoville-Poyferre a “brilliantly concentrated, full-bodied, opulent beast of a wine,” while the Wine Advocate’s Lisa Perrotti-Brown describes it as “simply alive in the mouth, culminating in an epically long finish that will leave your mouth practically tingling. WOW!” James Suckling calls the “serious” 95 pt. 2017 Leoville-Poyferre “one of the best of the appellation” while the Wine Enthusiast’s Roger Voss named both the 2017 and 2018 Cellar Selections built for the long haul. Finally, the “legendary” 100 pt. 2018 Leoville-Poyferre is a “a total thrill that tops my scale” according to critic Jeb Dunnuck while Antonio Galloni declares the perfect 2018 “dazzles from start to finish,” earning it the #7 spot on the Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines of 2021.

All poised to reward Bordeaux lovers for decades to come, these perfectly cellared, top releases from Second Growth Chateau Leoville-Poyferre delivers powerfully concentrated fruit of exceptional depth and length with rich, ripe tannins, now offered at specially negotiated pricing, some ready to enjoy and all set to evolve in the cellar. After a recent retrospective tasting over the last two decades, Vinous critic Neal Martin summed it up: “Leoville-Poyferre has really taken flight” often "challenging the First Growths" and now offered in perfect condition at a fraction of the price.

95V 94WE 94JS 94JA 93WA 93JD 93WS

The 2014 Léoville Poyferré has a very complex bouquet with blackberry, bilberry, crushed stone, cedar and hints of violet. It is extremely focused, intense rather than overtly powerful. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp and generous, conveying much more tension and precision than the Léoville Las-Cases. It gradually fans out in the second half with real mineralité, quite profound in the context of the vintage. Outstanding. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.

95 points, Neal Martin, Vinous (Mar 2018)

The wine is concentrated with tannins that come from both the firm fruit and the wood aging. It is packed with blackberry flavors that come through the structure strongly. The velvet texture (that is just a hint at the moment) is going to bring out the richness of this wine produced with consultation from Michel Rolland. Drink from 2024.

94 points, Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast (Feb 2017)

A ripe, generous and substantial wine for this appellation with some real concentration. Plenty of beautiful currant and blackberry character, as well as a solid core of ripe, dusty and velvety tannins and enough acidity to carry the long, savory finish. Slight lean now. Better in 2024.

94 points, James Suckling (Mar 2021)

Liqourice, smoke, baked earth, graphite, espresso and textured rippled black fruits. The tannins are holding things close to their chest, and this is enjoyable but needs time. A vintage that is generally seen to have been best in this section of the Médoc peninsula, and this is great quaity but needs a few years to open back up. 80% new oak, harvest October 1 to 14.

94 points, Jane Anson (Sep 2021)

The 2014 Leoville-Poyferre was surprisingly backward and tight on the nose (usually it is the most expressive and generous Léoville in its youth). The precision and focus is intact, but it is broody and sultry at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with firm structure, which suggests that it has turned volte face since its opulent showing in barrel. Overall, this comes across as perhaps a slightly more austere and masculine wine from Didier Cuvelier, though that is not a criticism, just an observation. I would like to see a little more persistence on the finish, but the tidings bode well for this mercurial and fascinating Léoville-Poyferre. I can see it improving with bottle age, hence the plus sign against my score.

93+ points, Wine Advocate (Mar 2017)

A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc and the balance Petit Verdot that wasn’t harvest until the middle of October (this is later than most), the 2014 Léoville Poyferré is a ripe, concentrated, seriously impressive wine in the vintage that offers more exuberance, texture, and character than most. Crème de cassis, graphite, toasty oak, and hints of tobacco all emerge from this purple colored, pure, medium to full-bodied 2014 that has sweet tannin, beautiful purity of fruit, and a great finish. While it doesn’t have the depth of a truly great vintage, it shines for its balance, texture, and sheer charm. Drink this beauty anytime over the coming 15-20 years.

93 points, Jeb Dunnuck (Feb 2018)

Very pure, with a beautiful beam of violet and plum sauce carried by a chiseled graphite spine. Gorgeous anise and roasted apple wood notes are inlaid seamlessly on the finish. Shows ample grip and drive. Rock-solid. Best from 2020 through 2030. 15,000 cases made.

"This is a multi-dimensional First Growth with a very persistent finish. Mouton-Rothschild? Bingo."
–Neal Martin, Vinous

With a flavor profile as distinctive as its original art labels custom-designed for each new vintage, the iconic Chateau Mouton-Rothschild is one of a kind, known for its elegant and sumptuous richness built on powerful Cabernet Sauvignon that rewards patient collectors with decades upon decades of enjoyment. Benefiting from our long-term relationships in the region, this exciting, limited offer of top-rated Mouton-Rothschild gives Bordeaux lovers and collectors an opportunity to stock up on exceptional back vintages aged in pristine conditions and delivered ex-Chateau, for a limited time at unbeatable pricing that guarantees a quick sell-out.

Known as the only Chateau to ever succeed in changing its 1855 Classification to become First Growth in 1973, Chateau Mouton-Rothschild’s meticulously tended gardens, gleaming new cellars and the stunning Chateau itself are all built to impress, but none outshine the estate's stunning Grand Vins themselves, crafted under the direction of the legendary "Winemaker of the Decade" Philippe Dhalluin who managed Mouton-Rothschild until 2020. Arriving from Brainaire-Ducru in 2003, Dhalluin initiated improvements that have paid quality dividends for years, limiting yields and employing strict selection with only 50% of the harvest making the final cut for the Grand Vin. Located on the Grand Plateau of Mouton neighboring Lafite, Chateau Mouton Rothschild's 83-hectare vineyard for the Grand Vin is planted to 81% Cabernet Sauvignon and the remainder Merlot, Cab Franc and Petit Verdot in mostly a contiguous parcel. Averaging 50 years of age with some over 130 years, the Cabernet Sauvignon vines are planted in unique soils composed of an astounding 98% gravel with the remaining 2% clay on small hills rising up to 29 meters, the highest points in Pauillac. Hand harvested at optimal ripeness by the same dedicated workers year over year, Philippe Dhalluin vinified the grapes from the older and younger vines in each parcel separately, always aging the Grand Vin in 100% new French oak between 19 and 22 months, yielding long-lived wines of incredible depth and concentration with a luscious fruit profile and caressing silky tannins.

Coming from some of the top Bordeaux vintages of the last two decades, the 99pt 2009 Chateau Mouton Rothschild is a "stunning wine" that's simply "magnificent" according to the Wine Advocate's Neal Martin, while the Wine Spectator's James Molesworth calls the 100pt 2010 Chateau Mouton-Rothschild "a battleship of a wine" summing it up as "awesome." Detailing Mouton's signature nuances of "graphite, lead pencil shavings, floral, and Asian spice aromas and flavors," critic Jeb Dunnuck crowned the 99pt 2015 Mouton-Rothschild "one of the longest-lived wines of the vintage" while Inside Bordeaux's Jane Anson called the 100pt 2016 Mouton-Rothschild "monumental," ranked by James Suckling as "one of the most powerful Mouton’s ever" that the Wine Advocate declared, in a word, "magic."

Representing the pinnacle of Bordeaux and among the world's greatest wines, these perfectly cellared selections from Chateau Mouton-Rothschild are available on a limited basis, some ready to enjoy and all poised to reward Bordeaux lovers for decades to come. All outstanding choices, don't hesitate to secure yours – in the blink of an eye, they'll be gone.

Composed of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, the 2016 Mouton Rothschild has an opaque garnet-purple color. WOW—the nose explodes from the glass with powerful blackcurrant cordial, black raspberries, blueberry pie and melted chocolate notions, plus suggestions of aniseed, camphor, lifted kirsch and the faintest waft of a subtle floral perfume in the background. Full-bodied, concentrated, bold and totally seductive in the mouth, it has very fine-grained, silt-like tannins, while jam-packed with tightly wound fruit layers, finishing in this wonderful array of mineral sparks. Magic.

100 points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate (Issue # 245 - Oct 2019)

Along with the Château Lafite, the 2016 Château Mouton Rothschild is the wine of the vintage from the Médoc and is a truly profound, magical, blockbuster wine in every sense. It’s based on 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, raised in new French oak. Boasting a saturated purple color as well as an extraordinary bouquet of thick black fruits, lead pencil shavings, new saddle leather, and burning embers, with just a hint of its oak upbringing, this beauty hits the palate with a mammoth amount of fruit and texture yet stays fresh, pure, and light on its feet, with a thrilling sense of minerality as well as building tannins on the finish. It’s one of the most profound young wines I’ve ever tasted, and while it will probably keep for three-quarters of a decade, it offers pleasure even today. Bravo!

100 points, Jeb Dunnuck (Feb 2019)

The 2016 Mouton Rothschild bowled me over when I tasted it from barrel. Philippe Dhalluin compares it to the 1986 in terms of intensity of fruit, although there is more maturity and refinement in the tannins apropos of the 2016. Bottled in July 2018, this has an intense bouquet with pixelated black fruit, crushed stone, hints of blue fruit and a touch of India ink. But it is the delineation and focus that take your breath away. The palate is medium-bodied with very supple tannin framing the pure black currant and cassis fruit. The acidity is pitch-perfect, and there is a gentle but insistent grip toward the extraordinarily long finish. Racking my brains to think of another Mouton Rothschild that I have tasted over the last 20 years that was as good as this, I simply cannot come up with one.

100 points, Neal Martin, Vinous (Jan 2019)

Dark ruby, purple color. Aromas of blackcurrants, black truffle, crushed stone, licorice and hints of tar. Full-bodied, deep and vertical on the palate, drawing you in and down. The structure is very tannic and powerful, yet the tannins are folded into the wine. One of the most powerful Moutons ever for me. Try after 2027.

100 points, James Suckling (Mar 2020)

A generous, pure and lush ball of Cabernet, with wave after wave of unadulterated cassis and blackberry puree flavors rolling through. Features notes of roasted apple wood and sweet tobacco, offset by a long tug of sweet earth, but that's all background music to the impressive core of fruit, which steams along like a cruise ship with enough stores in reserve to go around the world twice without stopping. Best from 2025 through 2045.

98 points, James Molesworth, Wine Spectator (Mar 2019)

The rich fruit in this wine nearly envelops the tannins. Flavors of black plums, blackberries and blueberries meld with intense acidity to mask the power and concentration of the polished tannins. With this structure, will age for many, many years. Do not drink before 2026.

2021 Beaux Freres Pinot Noir (750ml)
Pinot Noir from Willamette, Oregon
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

From a year Decanter’s Clive Pursehouse calls “a five star vintage for the Willamette Valley,” this selection of 21 exceptional 2021 Oregon Pinot Noir offers a comprehensive range of the vintage’s top rated wines value priced for lovers and collectors of exceptional Pinot Noir, a vintage filled with high scoring Pinots “worthy of your investment of time and money” according to Jeb Dunnuck whether selecting a few favorites or mixing a case.

After a challenging 2020 vintage of unprecedented wildfires in which many producers did not even produce red wines, Willamette Valley winemakers enjoyed a relatively easy 2021 growing season, starting with warm and dry conditions at the beginning of the vines’ dormant season in Fall 2020 and followed by a Winter without any significant damage despite severe snow and ice storms. Following budbreak in mid-April, an early bloom occurred in the first part of June with heavy rains that normally would have been problematic had they not been followed by a record setting “heat dome” when temperatures reached up to an astounding 117.5°F over a three day period across the Pacific Northwest, the wet soil protecting the vines from damage and encouraging healthy growth. The warm and dry remainder of the season prevented any mildew or disease, while cooler temperatures and substantial rain in September allowed the grapes to fully ripen and led to an extended and nearly perfect harvest producing “concentrated Pinot Noirs with fine tannins sure to become age worthy collectables” according to Decanter.

Describing the 2021 Oregon growing season, Audrey Frick of Jeb Dunnuck sums it up as “a stellar vintage, with the wines displaying an outstanding balance of ripeness, depth, and tension" and "equally compelling" as wines from California and Burgundy at a fraction of the price, these exceptional, top rated 2021 Oregon Pinots certain to match a broad array of individual tastes and all over delivering value.

2021 Andremily White Cuvee (750ml)
Roussanne from Santa Barbara, California

The 2021 White is a blend of 40% Chardonnay, 26% Roussanne, 19% Marsanne, and 15% Viognier coming from Slide Hill, Stolpman, and Jespersen vineyards, was aged for around 21 months in 50% new French oak. The color is a pale lemon straw. Notes of salted almonds, lemon tart, and apple pie jump from the glass followed by hints of lime leaves and fresh straw. The medium-bodied palate is elegant and fresh, with just enough acidity to counter the mineral-laced citrus fruit layers, and finishing long. 300 cases were made.

95 points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Independent (Aug 2023)

The 2021 White Cuvée turned out to be a very delicate wine. Attractive floral accents lift a core of orchard fruit, pear, chamomile and lightly honeyed notes. A healthy dollop of Roussanne, along with less stirring in élevage, adds notable textured throughout.

2017 Chateau Leoville Poyferre (750ml)

97V 95JD 95WE 95JS

A ravishing Saint-Julien, the Léoville-Poyferré is also very clearly one of the wines of the vintage on the Left Bank. Raspberry jam, blood orange, mint, spice and mocha all race out of the glass as this sumptuous, flamboyant wine shows off its exotic personality. With its vertical lift and explosive energy, the 2017 has so much to offer. It has been nothing less than stunning on the three occasions I have tasted it so far. In 2017, the Grand Vin is 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Because of the late season rains, only 3 out of the 5 parcels that typically inform the Grand Vin were used. This a tremendous effort from the Cuvelier family. Don't miss it.

97 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Mar 2020)

Based on a blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2017 Chateau Leoville-Poyferre saw malolactic in barrels and spent 18 months in 80% new French oak. Sporting a deep ruby/purple hue, it delivers big, powerful notes of blackberries, blackcurrants, crushed violets, tobacco, and a touch of chocolate. Possessing medium to full-bodied richness, a rounded, opulent texture, and sweet tannins, it’s unquestionably one of the biggest, richest wines in the vintage. Give bottles 4-6 years of bottle age and enjoy over the following 2-3 decades. Tasted twice.

95 points, Jeb Dunnuck (Feb 2020)

This wine brings balance to the solid tannins and luscious fruits. Firm tannins plus layers of acidity give freshness and great aging ability. The wine has a great future. Drink from 2024.

A red with currant and blueberry aromas and flavors and some citrus and vanilla. Medium body and creamy, integrated tannins. Shows finesse and depth for the vintage. One of the best from the appellation. Serious for the vintage. Drinkable now, but much better in 2022.

2019 Le Cinciole Petresco (750ml)
Sangiovese from Tuscany, Italy
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

Described as a “gem of a producer” by Decanter, Podere Le Cinciole may well be the ultimate insider’s Tuscan estate, these high scoring, under the radar selections expressing the estate’s exceptional “golden” terroir in Chianti Classico's high altitude terrain and quietly gaining the lesser known Le Cinciole a reputation among critics including Antonio Galloni of Vinous as “one of the leading estates in all of Italy," each of these artisan-crafted red wines also among the region’s top values.

Situated on a biodiverse 30-hectare hilltop estate that includes an olive grove of 1,000 trees, Le Cinciole owners Luca Orsini and Valeria Vigano produce their measured, thoughtful wines from 11-hectares of biodynamically farmed vineyards in the Conca d’Oro, the amphitheater-shaped “golden basin” considered the Grand Cru of the region, planted in galestro soils of clay and schist ranging from 400 to 450 meters above sea level at one of the highest elevations in the region. Described as “one of the most distinctive wines in the appellation” by Vinous critic Antonio Galloni, the remarkably expressive 93 pt. 2019 Le Cinciole Chianti Classico and 92 pt. 2020 Le Cinciole Chianti Classico entry level cuvees were crafted from 100% Sangiovese and aged for 12 months in medium French oak barrels and a year in concrete before bottling, yielding seductive, earthy fruit and elegant tannins and described as “a perennial overperformer” by Decanter’s Michaela Morris that’s not to be missed. Crafted from 100% Sangiovese and aged well beyond the minimum requirement of 30 months for Chianti Classico's elite Gran Selezione category, Decanter critic Morris named the elegant 96 pt. 2016 Le Cinciole Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Aluigi one of her Top 10 wines of 2021, its luscious core of rich Sangiovese fruit and balanced mineral driven acidity boasting “quite a wow factor,” while Monica Larner of the Wine Advocate describes the “bold” 95 pt. 2018 Gran Selezione Aluigi as having “a lovely defined character” and Antonio Galloni of Vinous praises the 96 pt. 2019 Gran Selezione Aluigi as setting the gold standard for the classification, exclaiming “what a gorgeous wine this is.” A deeply layered blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with Syrah and Merlot, the exquisite 95 pt. 2016 Le Cinciole Camalaione is “absolutely gorgeous” according to critic Galloni, boasting lush dark fruits with remarkable persistence and balanced acidity, while the powerful 94 pt. 2017 Le Cinciole Camalaione “packs a huge punch” and the enticing 96 pt. 2018 Le Cinciole Camalaione is “a knockout,” describing the atypical blend as offering “stunning depth and textural intensity.” Sourced from 100% Sangiovese grown in a single vineyard at the estate’s highest elevation, Antonio Galloni calls the flagship 97 pt. 2017 Le Cinciole Petresco “breathtaking” while the 98 pt. 2019 Le Cinciole Petresco boasts “notable depth and intensity,” and like all Le Cinciole’s top cuvees, both are built to deliver pleasurable drinking over the next decade and beyond.

While Panzano and the Conca D’Oro have gained notoriety among collectors as the home to high profile producers like Fontodi, Le Cinciole's top scoring wines remain among Tuscany’s hidden treasures, still seeming “to fly under the radar” according to Antonio Galloni and a rare opportunity for lovers and collectors of bold Tuscan reds to “strike gold” and scoop up a stash of Le Cinciole’s purely irresistible wines at unbeatable prices.

97V

The 2019 Petresco picks up where the 2018 left off, although it is perhaps a bit more reserved at this stage than its older sibling was. Deceptive in its mid-weight structure, the 2019 possesses notable depth and intensity. Time in the glass brings out shades of red/purplish Sangiovese fruit mixed with suggestions of new leather, spice and menthol. The 2019 spent two years in wood (equal parts cask and barrique) followed by a year in cement.

2006 Chateau Guiraud (375ml)
Semillon from Sauternes, Bordeaux, France

A top rated, impeccably aged Sauternes that’s now ready to enjoy, the luscious 95 pt. 2006 Chateau Guiraud Sauternes reveals fresh, opulent honeyed fruit expertly balanced by savory acidity on a long and luxurious finish, available in half bottles after nearly two decades of pristine cellaring and bargain priced for Bordeaux lovers to stock the cellar.

Named for Bordeaux negociant Pierre Guiraud who purchased the estate in 1766, the modern renaissance of Chateau Guiraud was fueled by the investments of businessman and owner Frank Narby in the 1980’s, entirely renovating the chateau, installing a new winery and hiring long time estate manager and winemaker Xavier Planty to renovate the vineyards and lead the estate towards sustainable viticulture over the next decades. Sourced from 85 hectares just south of Chateau d’Yquem, the 2006 Guiraud is a blend of 65% Semillon and 35% Sauvignon Blanc, the low yielding vines planted in a diverse mix of sand, gravel, red clay and limestone soils on sloping hillsides rising to 72 meters at the peak. Hand harvesting over four separate passes through the vineyard to select only optimally botrytized fruit, winemaker Xavier Planty fermented the grapes with indigenous yeasts over a period of three weeks to two months before aging the 2006 Chateau Guiraud in new French oak barrels for 18 months, yielding a rich and silky Sauternes described by Neal Martin of Vinous as having a “superb sense of weight and presence” and now living up to his prediction that it “should age beautifully.”

Described by the Wine Enthusiast’s Roger Voss as boasting “a great fresh burst of acidity along with the sweetness,” with the structure to continue its rich evolution, the irresistible 95 pt. 2006 Chateau Guiraud offers the deliciously decadent balance of sweet and savory that draws Sauternes lovers back for another taste, each half bottle featuring the estate’s distinctive black and gold label and available in original wooden cases of 12 at an unbeatable value price.

Sweet, rich orange marmalade flavors, maybe not as imposingly powerful as Guiraud can be, but still with a great inner tension between sweetness and dry botrytis, precede a delicious addition of lemon zest and a final burst of sweetness balanced with acidity.

95 points, Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast (Mar 2009)

Tasted blind at Southwold ’06 Bordeaux tasting. This has a lovely, well-defined bouquet with honey, lemon curd, quince and a touch of white flowers. Very good lift and expression. The palate is medium-bodied, spicy entry, good level of botrytis will real depth. Marmalade, quince and spice, viscous, botrytis-rich finish. This should age beautifully. Tasted January 2010.

Chablis fans seeking a great deal need look no further than these 90 plus pt. 2021 Chablis selections from Domaine Servin, "a classically styled portfolio" from an under the radar producer according to Neal Martin of Vinous, a range of ready to enjoy and cellar worthy wines well-priced for Burgundy bargain hunters to stock up on a few favorites or put together a value-packed mixed case.

Located on the outskirts of the village of Chablis, Domaine Servin is one of the oldest family run estates in the region with a history of winemaking dating back two centuries, led by 20th generation Francois Servin and his Australian-born winemaker Mark Cameron. Spanning over 35 hectares with most of the Chardonnay vines over 40 years of age, Domaine Servin’s vineyards are located in some of the top terroirs across the appellation including six 1er and four Grand Crus, with even its village level cuvee sourced from a single 11 hectare parcel that is considered on par with its 1er cru neighbors Montmains and Vosgros. Described as “rich and seductively textured” by Burghound’s Allen Meadows, the entry level 90 pt. 2021 Servin Les Pargues offers crisp, fresh fruit hinting of chalky minerality balanced by “racy acids and a long, saline finish” according to the Wine Advocate’s William Kelley. Vinified in stainless steel with extended time on the lees, the 92 pt. 2021 Servin Vaucoupin 1er Cru is an “over performer” and “a charming classic” according to Neal Martin of Vinous, while the 92 pt. 2021 Servin Butteaux 1er Cru is “excellent” with “a saline finish that lingers,” both promising to age over a decade. Two Grand Cru selections boasting remarkable longevity, Neal Martin calls the 93 pt. 2021 Servin Bougros Grand Cru “very fine” balancing pure, zesty fruit and racy acidity on a refined finish he compares to high profile estate Domaine Raveneau, while Allen Meadows of Burghound describes the 92 pt. 2021 Servin Blanchots Grand Cru as “unusually powerful,” revealing rich aromatic fruit with a “balanced, clean and dry finish.”

From a roller coaster 2021 Chablis vintage with limited yields, Andy Howard of Decanter recommends, “Find producers you favor and snap them up while you can,” these outstanding, value-loaded 2021 Domaine Servin selections a terrific choice for White Burgundy fans seeking delicious, age worthy Chablis to stash away and enjoy for years to come.

2020 Les Pagodes de Cos (750ml)
Cabernet Sauvignon from Saint-Estephe, Bordeaux, France
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

Showing even better from bottle than barrel, the 2020 Pagodes De Cos checks in as 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34 % Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Remarkably elegant and balanced, it has a great nose of red and black fruits, sandalwood, tobacco leaf, and spice as well as medium to full-bodied richness on the palate. It's shockingly good and up with the top second wines out there. It will evolve for at least two decades.

94 points, Jeb Dunnuck (Mar 2023)

The 2020 Les Pagodes de Cos is dark, sumptuous and super-expressive. There is an element of mystery to the 2020, it’s a wine that is not ready to show all of its charms just yet. Ripe dark cherry, plum, new leather, licorice, tobacco, incense and dried herbs all build nicely in a Pagodes that balances fruit richness and energy.

93 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Feb 2023)

Spicy redcurrants with dark chocolate, as well as bark and black tea on the nose. Full-bodied with firm and fine tannins that are nicely velvet in texture. Delicious and savory finish. Needs four or five years to come together. Try after 2026.

Silky, velvety texture, with lovely bright acidities that lift and carry the raspberry and damson fruits. Great stuff, spiced turmeric and saffron notes, black tea and liqourice root. Fine tannins but there are plenty of them, and this will continue to improve over the next few years in bottle.

An enticing style, with sparkles of anise and black tea adding nuance to a core of lushly textured loganberry and mulberry fruit. Reveals a light kiss of incense on the open-knit finish. A crowd-pleaser for mid-term drinking. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2034. 12,000 cases made, 1,800 cases imported.

92 points, James Molesworth, Wine Spectator (Mar 2023)

This second wine is complex and structured. At same time, it has the proper openness and precocity of a second wine. Likely to age smoothly, the wine will be ready from 2026.

The 2021 Lytton Springs is fabulous. Bright and vibrant to its core, the 2021 impresses with its poise. Readers will find a Lytton Springs that is very much in reserve, as opposed to the rest of the 2021s in this report, all of which are more approachable. Salivating acids and veins of tannin lend shape and persistence, but the 2021 needs time. Red cherry fruit, blood orange, rose petal and sage are some of the notes that linger on the close.

95+ points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Nov 2023)

Robust and rustic, yet retains a sense of style, with deep blackberry, savory anise and black pepper flavors that gather tension and structure toward broad-shouldered tannins. Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Carignane, Alicante Bouschet, Cinsault and Counoise. Best from 2025 through 2033. 8,500 cases made.

2019 Clos Apalta (375ml)
Carmenere from Apalta Vineyard, Colchagua Valley, Chile
B-21 Top Recommendation

“There’s no doubt that Clos Apalta is one of the world’s greatest red wines.”

James Suckling

The powerful 99pt 2019 Clos Apalta from Chile’s Casa Lapostolle is a stunner, an elegantly crafted Bordeaux-style blend offering layers of dark plush fruit with rippling, juicy tannins on a lengthy finish, a perennial B-21 favorite that’s guaranteed to sell out quickly at our best on the market pricing.

Arriving in the Colchagua Valley in 1994, French Grand Marnier heiress Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and her husband Cyril de Bournet were inspired by the exceptional Chilean terroir to craft a world class wine, tapping into the winemaking expertise of renowned French oenologist Michel Rolland to lead the restoration of the century old vineyards and construction of a new state of the art winery. Releasing this 22nd vintage now under the direction of their son Charles-Henri de Bournet, Clos Apalta is the only South American wine ever to garner the coveted #1 spot on the Wine Spectator’s Top 100, named an astounding five times to the list and regularly earning “classic” ratings of 95 pts. and above. Sourced mainly from two blocks of old vines planted in a myriad of granitic soils in the 1920’s, the biodynamically farmed Clos Apalta vineyards are in the shadow of the towering coastal Cordillera Mountains, protected from the searing sun while enjoying a cool maritime mist most mornings that creates optimal conditions for ripening Carmenere while maintaining its freshness and acidity. Blending mostly Carmenere with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and a little Petit Verdot, winemaker Jacques Begarie aged the 99 pt. 2019 Clos Apalta for 24 months in 90% new French oak barrels before bottling without filtering or fining, yielding lush complexity and hedonistic richness with age-worthy structure placing it among the world’s greatest wines.

Celebrating the estate’s decades of success on its 20th anniversary, Clos Apalta’s Charles-Henri de Bournet declared “this is no time for complacency” – reflecting the estate’s never-ending drive for perfection, the outstanding 99 pt. 2019 Clos Apalta is equally appealing to those who already know it well and any lover of bold reds looking to explore the top tier of Chilean wines at an outstanding value.

Among the highest scoring vintages over the last two decades from a legendary "Super Second" estate, these powerful and elegant selections from Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande boast rich, aromatic dark fruit and bright, mineral-driven acidity, some ready to enjoy now and all ageworthy blends rivalling the quality of neighboring First Growth estates at unbeatable pricing.

Described as “arguably the single hottest chateau on Bordeaux’s Left Bank right now” by Antonio Galloni of Vinous, Pichon Lalande is located in Pauillac on the iconic Route des Chateaux overlooking the Gironde, its majestic turreted Chateau surrounded by the vines of First Growth Latour. Covering 89 hectares on deep gravel layered over clay and limestone, the Pichon Lalande vineyards are planted mainly to Cabernet Sauvignon with the oldest vines overlooking the river ranging up to 90 years of age, the remaining parcels located mostly in a single plot west of Latour. Describing it as “utterly brilliant, delivering juice, minerality, power, balance,” the thrilling 97 pt. 2009 Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande offers “sheer enjoyment” according to Inside Bordeaux’s Jane Anson and “will unquestionably evolve gracefully for another 20-25 years” according to Jeb Dunnuck while the Wine Enthusiast’s Roger Voss calls the 97 pt. 2009 Pichon Lalande “a seductive wine” with “beautifully integrated” tannins that’s simply “wonderful to taste” according to James Suckling. The 100 pt. 2010 Pichon Lalande is a “total showstopper” and a “modern day classic” according to Vinous critic Antonio Galloni, while James Suckling describes it as “rock-solid, with a classic Pauillac profile” and a lingering mineral-driven finish. The 95 pt. 2012 Pichon Lalande is “a wine of pure and total seduction” with “so much to offer” according to critic Galloni, while the 98 pt. 2015 Pichon Lalande is “as classy as they come” according to Jeb Dunnuck and “will continue to impress for two to three decades,” while impressing James Suckling with its “gorgeous texture” and “long and beautiful finish.” Described as “a perfect, legendary wine in the making” by Jeb Dunnuck, the 100 pt. 2016 Pichon Lalande earned a spot on the Wine Spectator’s Top 100 of 2019, called “a vivid, dramatically sweeping wine that will leave readers week at the knees” by critic Antonio Galloni who adds “don’t miss it.” Offering “silky tannins” that “feels like a Pauillac” according to Inside Bordeaux’s Jane Anson, the 96 pt. 2017 Pichon Lalande boasts “pure elegance and class” according to Jeb Dunnuck while the 99 tp. 2019 Pichon Lalande 99 pts. is “one of the wines of the vintage” according to the Wine Advocate’s William Kelley, described by Vinous critic Neal Martin as “an absolute showstopper.”

Garnering unanimous critical acclaim typically reserved for the First Growths at a fraction of the price, these exceptional vintages from Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande blends are affordable luxuries not to be missed by Bordeaux lovers and collectors, whether selecting a few favorites to enjoy now or stocking the cellar and savoring them for years to come.

99JD 99V 98WA 98WI 97JS

Pure class, the 2019 Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse De Lalande is another brilliant wine from director Nicolas Glumineau that checks in at the top of the vintage. A blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, and 6% Cabernet Franc that was harvested from mid-September through October 8th. Brought up in roughly 60% new French oak, it hit 14.1% natural alcohol with a pH of 3.7. More elegant and poised from bottle than barrel, it offers a brilliant perfume of crème de cassis, lead pencil shavings, tobacco leaf, damp earth, and graphite. Deep, full-bodied, and pure perfection on the palate, it has this incredible marriage of Latour-like stature and regalness buffered by wonderful, sexy, seamless fruit, which no doubt comes from the higher Merlot content and makes Comtesse de Lalande so singular and unique. It builds slowly with time in the glass and has remarkable purity of fruit, ultra-fine tannins, perfect balance, and a finish that just begs you to pour another glass. It has a seductive, seamless profile that offers pleasure even today (although it needs lots of air to show at its best) yet needs 7-8 years of bottle age to hit the early stages of its prime drink window and will evolve for another 40-50 years if stored properly.

99 points, Jeb Dunnuck (Apr 2022)

The sample of 2019 Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande sent to me last year was an absolute show-stopper. The bouquet needs a few minutes to open up, delivering intense black fruit, crushed stone and incense with time in the glass. Yes, the nose does remind me of Latour! The medium-bodied palate is endowed with unerring symmetry and poise. This is a powerful, multi-dimensional Pichon-Lalande, extremely precise, very deep and long. The 60% new oak is seamlessly integrated and feels just right. It reminds me of the 1996 in some ways, but with more finesse on the finish. Stunning. 14.12% alcohol

99 points, Neal Martin, Vinous (Feb 2022)

One of the wines of the vintage, the 2019 Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande soars from the glass with complex aromas of wild berries, tobacco leaf, loamy soil, burning embers and hints of violets and rose petals. Full-bodied, deep and complete, it’s velvety and seamless, with a broad attack and a multidimensional core of lively, succulent fruit. Concluding with a long, expansive finish, it’s a remarkable young Pauillac that will offer many years of thrilling drinking. Congratulations to Nicolas Glumineau and his team, who are ushering in a new golden age at an address where standards were always very high.

98 points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate (Apr 2022)

A blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, and 6% Cabernet Franc, the 2019 Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande spent 18 months in oak, 60% of it new. Deep garnet-purple colored, it is a little closed to begin, unravelling with coaxing to offer notes of kirsch, dark chocolate, cardamom, and rose oil over a core of blackcurrant cordial, star anise, and mossy tree bark. Medium to full-bodied, firm, and with exquisitely fine-grained tannins, it has impactful, very tightly wound fruit layers and incredible grace, finishing very long with lots of mineral sparks.

98 points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Independent (Apr 2022)

“One of the crown jewels of Bordeaux”

Antonio Galloni, Vinous

A range of top rated, pristinely cellared red and white blends from one of Bordeaux’s most undervalued estates, these selections from Domaine de Chevalier are built for decades of enjoyment, some already ready to enjoy and all promising astute collectors some superb drinking ahead.

Tucked away from view in southern Pessac-Leognan, the 120-hectare estate of Domaine de Chevalier is situated in a secluded parklike setting often described as “a secret garden,” its 65-hectare biodynamically farmed vineyard surrounded by lush forest on gently rolling hills that promotes biodiversity. Situated south of the city of Bordeaux and Chateau Haut-Brion, Domaine de Chevalier’s vineyards are arranged in a single square block on a mix of dark sand and fine gravel, planted mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon for the Grand Vin with a smaller 7-hectare parcel dedicated mostly to Sauvignon Blanc for the Blanc. Described as the white wine of the vintage by Jeb Dunnuck, the thrilling 98 pt. 2015 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc is composed of 75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Semillon aged for 18 months on the lees, yielding “a really gorgeous mouthfeel” according to the Wine Spectator’s James Molesworth while Antonio Galloni declares the “impressive” 98 pt. 2020 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc “one of the world’s great wines, hands down,” both exceptionally long-lived white Bordeaux promising to age for decades. Moving to the reds, the 96 pt. 2010 Domaine de Chevalier Rouge “is bloody brilliant” according to Inside Bordeaux’s Jane Anson, “at the beginning of its drinking window although nowhere near quitting” while the 96 pt. 2014 Domaine de Chevalier Rouge “offers full-bodied richness, a layered, silky texture, perfect balance and a great finish” according to Jeb Dunnuck. Earning a spot on the Wine Spectator’s Top 100 of 2019, the “stunning” 97 pt. 2016 Domaine de Chevalier Rouge boasts “beautiful complexity and texture” according to Inside Bordeaux's Jane Anson and Jeb Dunnuck calls the “classy, flawlessly balanced” 97 pt. 2017 Domaine de Chevalier Rouge “a gem that readers should snatch up,” already drinking beautifully and age worthy for another three decades. James Suckling calls the 99 pt. 2018 Domaine de Chevalier Rouge the ”greatest ever,” a Cellar Selection conveying “plenty of longevity” according to the Wine Enthusiast’s Roger Voss, and the Wine Advocate’s William Kelley declares the “exquisitely elegant” 97 pt. 2019 Domaine de Chevalier Rouge “a magical wine in the making” describing it as “a masterclass in what contemporary Bordeaux can deliver and worth a special effort to seek out.”

Calling Domaine de Chevalier “one of the true elite yet under the radar properties in Bordeaux,” Antonio Galloni of Vinous declares the work of superstar consultants Stephane Derenoncourt on the red and Denis Dubourdieu on the white, “shows in wines of pedigree, class and nuance,” making it no secret that stocking the cellar with these unbeatably priced Domaine de Chevalier blends will reward Bordeaux lovers with seriously enjoyable drinking for years to come.

Dark fruit, such as raspberries and blueberries with subtle perfume on the nose. Full-bodied with super well integrated tannins and a fresh and clean finish. Racy young wine. Shows classy structure and richness. Try in 2018.

96 points, James Suckling (Feb 2013)

The 2010 Domaine de Chevalier is still a baby, yet with air, offers tons of pleasure. Black currants, truffle, scorched earth, and licorice aromas and flavors all give way to a big, concentrated, unctuous beauty that has ample sweetness to its tannin, a stacked mid-palate, and a blockbuster finish. A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot, it needs an hour in a decanter if drinking anytime soon, and certainly has another two decades of longevity in front of it. It’s a sensational bottle of wine.

95+ points, Jeb Dunnuck (Dec 2017)

Deep garnet colored, the 2010 Domaine de Chevalier charges out of the gate with bold expressions of cassis, warm blackberries and boysenberries plus touches of menthol, chocolate box and cloves. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is finely crafted with bags of freshness and a finely grained texture, finishing long and with impressive energy.

95 points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate (Mar 2020)

Firm and closed, this is a wine with so much power and concentration. It also has beautiful fruit, smooth and opulent, that merges into the complex tannins and brooding, dark structure. It will take many years for this wine to open up.

95 points, Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast (May 2013)

The 2010 Domaine de Chevalier shows a little more amplitude compared to the Malartic-Lagravière, red and black fruit, undergrowth, pressed rose petals and a touch of crushed stone all beautifully defined. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins but demonstrating great depth. This feels saline, slightly marine-influenced in the mouth, with outstanding precision on the slightly peppery finish. Oliver Bernard oversaw a magnificent Grand Vin. Tasted from an ex-château bottle at the BI Wines & Spirits 10-Year On tasting.

2020 Clos du Marquis (750ml)
Cabernet Sauvignon from Saint-Julien, Bordeaux, France

93V 93WS 92WI

The 2020 Clos du Marquis is a rich, explosive wine. Super-ripe dark cherry, red plum, dark spice and pomegranate give the 2020 its effusive, open-knit personality. There's terrific energy and tons of class here. The purity of the fruit is very fine, yet the tannins are a bit imposing at this stage. Give this a few years to come together.

93 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Feb 2023)

This is pure St.-Julien through and through, with a core of cassis and plum fruit laced with a cool cast iron note, while cedar, anise and savory nuances chime in the background. An understated style. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2028 through 2038.

2020 Ossian Quintaluna Verdejo (750ml)

Crafted from some of Spain’s oldest vineyards in Castilla y Leon, the crisp and enticing 92 pt. 2020 Ossian Quintaluna Verdejo offers richly aromatic fruit with subtle minerality and vibrant acidity on a silky, mouthwatering finish, a delicious Spanish white with layered complexity value priced for stocking the cooler to enjoy often over the next few years.

Known for producing “rounder, more serious and minerally expressions of Verdejo” according to James Suckling, Ossian Vides y Vinos was established in the village of Nieva northwest of Madrid in 2005 to explore the winemaking potential of Segovia’s extremely old Verdejo vines, the region’s sandy soils helping to keep phylloxera bay while it ravaged other areas of Spain at the turn of the 20th century. Situated within the boundaries of the Rueda appellation, Ossian’s organically farmed vineyards span over 110 hectares of which 50 hectares are planted with ungrafted, pre-phylloxera vines ranging up to 160 years of age on the Voltoya River terraces between 840 and 930 meters above sea level, enjoying warm sunny days and cooler nighttime temperatures that enhance concentration and preserve acidity. Sourced from various plots in 5 different villages of Segovia comprised of 60% pre-Phylloxera and 40% younger vines and fermented with indigenous yeasts, the refined 2020 Ossian Quintaluna Verdejo was aged for nine months on the lees in a mix of stainless steel tanks and French foudres, yielding a rich and layered Verdejo that’s “bright and well-integrated” according to the Wine Spectator’s Alison Najus “with a lasting, lively finish.”

From a region known for producing “a bright, refreshing pour that delivers bang for the buck” according to the Wine Enthusiast’s Mike DeSimone, the appealing 92 pt. 2020 Ossian Quintaluna Verdejo boasts the upfront appeal of fresh, vibrant Verdejo with the layered complexity of old vine fruit, a delicious, richly textured Verdejo delivering outstanding value

92WA 92WE 92JS 90WS

The 2020 Quintaluna is pure Verdejo from small plots on sandy soils in the province of Segovia, fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts. They still use grapes from external suppliers but are working toward using 100% their own grapes (which they might achieve in 2023); therefore, the wine is not certified organic, because some of the vineyards from the growers are not certified. It has a balsamic nose reminiscent of bay leaf, dried yellow flowers, chamomile and pollen intermixed with pit fruit. It has a dry palate and a chalky texture, with balance and finesse, with moderate ripeness and 13.5% alcohol. 110,000 bottles.

92 points, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate (Jan 2023)

Light yellow in the glass, this wine has aromas of tangerine and lemon zest. Full on the palate, it conveys flavors of bergamot, yellow currant, aniseed and a touch of crumbled sage. Refreshing acidity bathes the palate from first sip through finish.

92 points, Mike DeSimone, Wine Enthusiast (Jul 2023)

Bitter almond with smoked lemon and rich lees on the nose, following through to a full-bodied palate with zesty lemon flavors. Love the taut texture on the palate, which is tense, dry and bright. An excellent verdejo. Drink on release.

The 2020 Petit Gravet Aîné bristles with energy and tension. An unusual Cabernet Franc-based Saint-Émilion, Petit Gravet Aîné shows a bit more concentration this year, which adds to its decidedly heady, extravagant personality. Even so, all the elements are so well balanced. Super-ripe black cherry, mocha, dried herbs and sweet floral top notes meld into the extravagant, lavish finish.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the Cabernet Franc dominate (90%) 2020 Petit Gravet Aine leaps with vibrant violets and lavender sparks, leading to a decadent core of chocolate covered cherries, red currant jelly, preserved plums, and crushed rocks.

Composed of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, the 2017 Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and is a little closed to begin, soon revealing floral notes of lilacs and lavender over a core of black raspberries, warm blackberries and forest floor plus touches of star anise and stewed black tea. Medium-bodied, the palate is a bundle of energy and tension with softly played tannins and beautiful floral and black fruit layers, finishing with a long-lingering whisper.

96 points, Wine Advocate (Mar 2020)

A sleek, precisely dialed-in Pauillac, with a pure and racy beam of cassis, blackberry and dark plum fruit inlaid with a mouthwatering iron note. A backdrop of singed alder and sweet tobacco waits in reserve, while the finish sails through with great cut. Possesses a regal feel. Best from 2025 through 2040.

96 points, James Molesworth, Wine Spectator (Mar 2020)

The 2017 Pichon Comtesse has a medium to deep garnet-purple color. It is quite closed to begin, opening out with considerable swirling to reveal a gorgeous perfume of raspberry coulis, red roses, and crushed rocks, leading to a core of cassis and blackberries, plus a hint of cedar. Medium-bodied, the palate is elegant and finely crafted, delivering very fine-grained tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with fantastic length.

96 points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Independent (Dec 2022)

Pure elegance and class, the 2017 Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse De Lalande checks in as 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot (representing just 50% of the production) that spent 18 months in 60% new barrels. Nicolas Glumineau has done an incredible job at this estate and this wine is consistently one of the classiest, most elegant wines in just about every vintage. Pure Pauillac notes of creme de cassis, lead pencil, green tobacco, and gravelly earth give way to a medium to full-bodied, soft, supple, flawlessly balanced 2017 that shows the more straight, classic style of the vintage. It needs 4-6 years of bottle age and will evolve gracefully for 25+ years or more. Tasted twice.

95 points, Jeb Dunnuck (Feb 2020)

This smoky wine is structured and full of dry tannins. Acidity comes with the black-currant fruits that are slow to develop but will get there. Drink this wine from a great estate from 2024.

95 points, Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast (Mar 2020)

The 2017 Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is a dark, powerful, somber Pauillac. Dark fruit, grilled herbs, smoke and licorice add to its distinctly brooding personality. In multiple tastings the 2017 has been incredibly tight and shut down. Readers will have to be especially patient. Estate Director Nicolas Glumineau has overseen a number of showy, majestic wines since he arrived at Pichon Comtesse in 2013. The 2017 appears to be cut from a different cloth, as it is incredibly reticent in the early going.

94 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Mar 2020)

A tight, compact young Bordeaux with medium body, polished and round tannins and a medium finish. Not a big wine, but some very classy currant and raspberry character and just a hint of lead pencil and polished structure. Drink after 2022.

97V 95JD

The 2021 Zinfandel 1910 Block emerges from the oldest vines on the property. Dense, dark and beguiling, the 2021 packs a serious punch. Succulent black cherry, blackberry, spice, rose petal, pomegranate and blood orange saturate the palate. The 2021 is distinguished by its density, power and resonance. This is the essence of Limerick Lane. What a wine!

97 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Jan 2024)

The 2021 Zinfandel 1910 Block pours a deep ruby/purple with electric highlights, with unfolding layers of menthol, black raspberry compote, cracked pepper, and fresh leather. Full-bodied, it’s more structured, with ripe tannins and a darker profile of black cherry, red berries, autumn leaves, and lavender. Drink this well-detailed and fantastic wine over the next 10 or more years.

From an outstanding vintage for fans and collectors of California Pinot Noir, these top rated 2021 selections offer a comprehensive range of styles matching an array of individual tastes, all value priced for stocking up on a favorite and perfect for mixing a case.

Regardless of which microclimate it hails from, Pinot Noir in the Sonoma Coast AVA enjoyed consistently moderate growing conditions in 2021, with warm weather in the early part of the year kicking off the growing season early. The summer was marked by cool temperatures and dry conditions without prolonged heat spikes that yielded even ripening with extended hangtime and steady yields. Calling the 2021 Sonoma Coast Pinots “fabulous,” Antonio Galloni of Vinous describes them as “potent, brooding wines with dark fruit profiles and tons of textural depth” their deep structure and superb balance promising longevity. Situated about 350 miles south of Sonoma’s Russian River Valley, the Central Coast also enjoyed a cooler growing season in 2021, described by Jeb Dunnuck as an “undeniably great vintage” that “will be loved by those who prioritize finesse and elegance.” Experiencing a long even growing season without any heat spikes, dry conditions in the Central Coast required a judicious use of irrigation in 2021 that produced healthy fruit but smaller yields, the top talent in the region producing rich and age worthy Pinot. Jeb Dunnuck describes the 2021 Central Coast Pinots as “fresh, vibrant, yet concentrated wines with the up-front purity and charm to drink well today, yet the structure and depth to age gracefully,” while Antonio Galloni of Vinous declared the favorable conditions produced “a wide range of exceptional, world-class wines.”

Summing up the 2021 vintage for California Pinot, the Wine Spectator’s Aaron Romano declares “2021 has all the makings of a banner year for California, especially for Pinot Noir. There were no extreme heatwaves and yields were slightly lower than average, which has translated into reds with expressive fruit character and natural vibrancy,” these impressive 2021 Cali Pinot Noir selections showcasing a range of styles offered at value pricing to enjoy now and over the next decades.

Lighter ruby-hued, the 2021 Pinot Noir Seabiscuit Zotovich Vineyard comes from a great site in the Sta. Rita Hills and was destemmed and raised in new French oak. Wild strawberries, raspberries, rose petals, baking spices, and loamy soil notes all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a pure, layered, incredibly elegant mouthfeel and fine-grained tannins. It will evolve for 10-12 years, although it's fabulous today as well.

2022 Louis Michel Montee de Tonnerre 1er Cru (750ml)
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy, France

From “a year to snap up” according to Decanter’s Andy Howard, these highly rated 2022 Chablis selections from Louis Michel are among Burgundy’s most outstanding values, a full range of “well-crafted Chablis from top to bottom” according to Vinous critic Neal Martin affordably priced for stocking up.

Perhaps “the most underrated of Chablis’s larger domaines” according to the Wine Advocate’s William Kelley, the family-owned Domaine Louis Michel & Fils has been crafting Chablis for nearly two centuries, forgoing the use of barrels in favor of stainless-steel tanks to create a pure expression of each vineyard and becoming “the reference point for tank-fermented and matured Chablis” according to critic Kelley. Sourced from 25 hectares of organically farmed vineyards most of which are 1er Cru, sixth generation winemaker Guillaume Michel ferments with native yeasts and ages the wines on the fine lees for extended periods in stainless steel, developing a rich, creamy texture that balances the mineral-driven acidity. Sourced from across six parcels planted in a mix of Kimmeridgian and Portlandian subsoils, the appealing entry level 92 pt. 2022 Louis Michel Chablis is “quite elegant” according to Neal Martin of Vinous, boasting crisp, aromatic fruit with a refreshing, saline-tinged finish, a delicious pour to enjoy over the next few years. Sourced from vines around 70 years of age, the “excellent” 92 pt. 2022 Louis Michel Butteaux 1er Cru balances a “crisp line of acidity” on a saline, mineral finish according to Neal Martin and is “certainly one of the highlights” of the 2022 releases, while the impressive 93 pt. 2022 Louis Michel Forets 1er Cru sourced from a single parcel on limestone soils offers “well balanced” satiny fruit and lower acidity that makes it immediately accessible. Burghound calls the enticing 95 pt. 2022 Louis Michel Montee de Tonnerre 1er Cru “refined” and “delicious” while Neal Martin declares it “one of the finest Premier Crus from Louis Michel,” earning the #3 spot on Decanter’s Top 1er Cru Chablis of the vintage. Called “a Vaillons of finesse” by Burghound, the elegant 91 pt. 2022 Louis Michel Vaillons 1er Cru offers “good depth and crisp acidity” according to Neal Martin, while summing up the harmonious 93 pt. 2022 Louis Michel Vaulorent 1er Cru as “excellent," revealing crisp, fresh fruit with racy acidity on an intense and lingering finish.

Crafted as “pure and unadorned in style and consistently high in quality” according to the Wine Advocate’s William Kelley, these highly rated selections from Louis Michel represent the “purest expression of Chardonnay” according to the Wine Enthusiast’s Roger Voss, appealing equally to fans of classically styled Chablis and lovers of vineyard-expressive White Burgundy seeking outstanding value.

There is complexity on the nose, weight and concentration on the palate, along with great acidity, all combined with the ripeness of fruit and mineral notes on the finish. Just bottled but still showing beautifully. Manager Guillaume Michel notes that his Montée de Tonnerre is 100% from Chapelot. This is a south-facing, homogenous parcel from the bottom of Chapelot to the mid-level.

2020 Chateau Ripeau (750ml)
Merlot from Saint-Emilion, Bordeaux, France

Cassis, black raspberries, tobacco, spicy wood, and beautiful floral notes all emerge from the 2020 Château Ripeau, a seamless, medium to full-bodied beauty with perfectly integrated oak, an elegant, layered mouthfeel, polished tannins, and a great finish. It's up with the finest vintages I've tasted from this estate and does everything right. It's already accessible given its purity and balance, yet I see no reason this shouldn't evolve nicely for a solid two decades.

96 points, Jeb Dunnuck (Mar 2023)

The 2020 Ripeau has a slight reduction on the nose, but there is real complexity and terroir expression underneath, with sous-bois and light Earl Grey scents. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, a fine bead of acidity, fresh and slightly savory, almost Pomerol-like on the finish. Bravo!

94 points, Neal Martin, Vinous (Feb 2023)

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2020 Ripeau charges out with vibrant blueberries, black cherries, and raspberry preserves scents, followed by hints of cedar chest and iron ore with an earthy charcoal waft. 2018 Le Cinciole Camalaione (750ml)
Cabernet Sauvignon from Tuscany, Italy
B-21 Top Recommendation

The 2018 Camalaione is a gorgeous wine, obviously pretty atypical given the Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot/Syrah blend, but compelling nonetheless. Dark cherry, plum, mocha, spice, leather and grilled herbs saturate the palate in a wine of stunning depth and textural intensity. What a knock out. The 2018 spent two years in barrique, 50% new, and then a year in cement.

Tasted out of bottle, the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape is a stunning example of this estate as well as the vintage. Gorgeous kirsch, flowery incense, spice box, and garrigue-like notes define the nose, and it hits the palate with classic Clos des Papes elegance and finesse backed up by a great mid-palate, fabulous concentration, and a monster of a finish. Don’t miss this beauty. It can be enjoyed today with incredible pleasure or cellared for two decades.

#6 - Jeb Dunnuck Top 100 Wines of 2021

Bright and floral on the nose. The tannins are extremely fine, almost imperceptible, but very much present, giving the wine a strong base for long ageing. It's perfectly balanced, long and deep, resulting in a rich but surprisingly classic vintage of Clos des Papes considering the extreme conditions this year. Rich but bright, very complete and pure with no excesses. Vines are typically 30 to 40 years old, spread across 24 parcels. Matured for 12 months in foudres of at least four years of age.

98 points, Matt Walls, Decanter (Oct 2020)

This is a stunner, offering a gorgeous core of black tea-infused cassis, plum reduction and raspberry purée flavors. Additional black licorice, black tea and incense notes emerge alongside the fruit on the long, lush, seductive finish, which is harnessed by a graphite frame. A very confidently rendered wine. Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvèdre. Best from 2024 through 2040. From France.
