Given the intensity of every cuvée at this estate, I was blown away by the elegance shown by the 2018 Gigondas le Poste. Violet and aniseed aromas accent plum and black cherry fruit, while this full-bodied wine is creamy-velvety in texture, with a long, silky finish that folds in distinct salted-licorice notes. Wow!

Lastly, the 2018 Gigondas Le Poste comes from a slightly higher elevation parcel just up the slope from the estate. Always a fresher, more perfumed, complex wine, the 2018 offers terrific floral and violet notes as well as plenty of dark fruits, peppery herbs, and earth. Full-bodied, concentrated, and seamless on the palate, with ultra-fine tannins (another hallmark of this cuvée), it’s perfectly balanced and a beautiful wine in the vintage.
