A concentrated black color introduces an inky, narrow nose that's tarry and smells of campfire. A saturated palate is a bit heavy and collapsed, while this Malbec tastes jammy and ripe, with blackberry flavors and toasty blackness. A linear, dense finish is short on breadth and depth.

Bright, dark ruby. Blackberry and licorice aromas are lifted by a violet topnote and accented by peppery herbs. Brisk and slightly medicinal, but a step up in depth and texture from the 2017 Nonni Malbec. Juicy black fruit flavors are given a penetrating quality by strong acidity. Finishes with decent length and firm-edged tannins that dust the front teeth. Not a fleshy or sweet style but a nice moderately ripe midweight. This wine actually went into a shell in the glass, with its tannins building, suggesting that it will be better for a year's patience. (13.9% alcohol)
