B21 is a very good site with a wide variety. I have used them many times, the website is very good, and their shipments are prompt. However I am confused when I look at the shipping costs shown on the website, and sometimes the “free or $12 flat rate” does not get applied.

2023 Hartford Chardonnay (750ml)
Chardonnay from Russian River, California
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

The Hartford Family's roots in Sonoma's Russian River Valley are second to none, and they farm some of the Golden State's most prized plots of old-vine Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay. Their reference-point range runs the gamut from incredible single-vineyard expressions to some of the greatest bang-for-the-buck values in the appellation.

The 2023 Russian River Pinot Noir delivers everything that long-time fans of the estate are looking for. Pure Pinot Noir charm is on full display in vibrant, ripe fruit, silky texture, and, most importantly, superb balance, all at an easy price that makes this undisputed crowd-pleaser accessible to a broad audience. The 2023 Russian River Chardonnay is "a worthy follow-up to the brilliant 2022," displaying classic, richly textured Russian River fruit, vibrant acidic balance, and a luxurious finish that reveals its world-class pedigree. Fans of California Chardonnay may have grown used to overpaying for underwhelming quality, but this 94-point, sub-$20 beauty is ideally suited to buck that trend. Turning to the estate's wheelhouse, don't miss the trio of top-flight, single-vineyard Zinfandels, highlighted by the WS96 Highwire Vineyard from the acclaimed 2023 vintage. "Zin rarely shows this much focus and tenstion," notes Wine Spectator, and we couldn't agree more.

Whether you're looking for an easy everyday go-to or a top-tier reference-point expression for the cellar, this range from Hartford has it in spades.

This plush, full-bodied wine shows ripe lemons, golden apples, yellow peaches and green mangoes with creme brulee and pleasant crushed-almond flavors. The finish carries baking spices and creaminess. Drink or hold.

94 points, James Suckling (Sep 2025)

Another appellation wine, the 2023 Chardonnay Russian River Valley is a bright golden yellow color and offers notes of poached yellow apples, toasted spice, almond, chamomile, and lemon curd. The palate is full-bodied and elegant, as is characteristic of this vintage, and has an even and floating feel on the finish. It’s ripe and has a more pithy texture, but it’s well-detailed and more immediate. Well-suited for restaurants, it should drink well now or over the coming 5-6 years.

93 points, Audrey Frick, Jeb Dunnuck (Jul 2025)

A worthy follow-up to the brilliant 2022, the 2023 further reinforces our position that there isn't a better Russian River Chardonnay value out there. Layers of peach and pear complemented by vibrant acidity yet with weight and density, intriguing spice with a honey noted finish.

2023 Invivo X, SJP Sarah Jessica Parker Sauvignon Blanc (750ml)
Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

Garnering a steady string of 90 plus pt. ratings vintage over vintage, the appealing 93 pt. 2023 Invivo X Sauvignon Blanc Sarah Jessica Parker is the real deal, offering classic Marlborough flavors of fresh aromatic passionfruit, peach and grapefruit with bright acidity on a smooth and juicy finish, appearing multiple times on the Wine Spectator's Top 100 since its first release in 2019 and a solid choice for fans of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc seeking outstanding value.

Gaining global stardom with her portrayal of Carrie Bradshaw in the HBO series Sex and the City (yes, THAT Sarah Jessica Parker), seasoned TV and film actor "SJP" was approached by Invivo co-founders and fellow New Zealanders Tim Lightbourne and Rob Cameron to partner in a quality portfolio of wines that overdeliver value, attracted by the pair's down to earth approach to wine and signing on with the caveat that she would have a key role in determining the final blend of each cuvee. Featuring Parker in live-streamed blending sessions and tastings, Invivo's social media presence may capitalize on her celebrity status, but much of the critical acclaim for the Sauvignon Blanc has been earned outside of it through completely blind tastings including a silver medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards. A blend of five estates located across the Wairau and Awatere Valleys, the appealing 2023 Invivo X Sauvignon Blanc SJP balances fresh tropical fruit flavors with lithe acidity and a subtle hint of oak, yielding a fresh and vibrant Sauv Blanc described as "young" and "zippy" by the Wine Enthusiast's Christina Pickard and crafted in a style that's "seriously drinkable" by the Wine Spectator's MaryAnn Worobiec.

From an excellent Marlborough vintage producing Sauvignon Blancs that are "pure, juicy and fresh, with zesty acidity," according to Rebecca Gibb of Vinous, the refreshing 93 pt. 2023 Invivo X Sauvignon Blanc Sarah Jessica Parker boasts an appeal that goes far beyond celebrity and loyal SJP fans, a terrific choice for anyone seeking a delicious, easy drinking white as well as lovers of New Zealand Sauv Blanc looking for an affordable, everyday pour and an unbeatable bargain for stocking up by the case.

Reflecting its owner's commitment to producing authentic, terroir-driven wines, this dynamic duo from Raymond Vineyards are two of Napa Valley's top values, the enticing 92 pt. 2022 Raymond Chardonnay Reserve Selection and elegant 93 pt. 2021 Raymond Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Selection both sourced from exceptional Napa fruit at an outstanding price for stocking up.

Known for his larger-than-life personality and flamboyant velvet jacket attire, Burgundy-born Jean-Charles Boisset is a true believer that great wines are made in the vineyard, and his first priority after purchasing Raymond Vineyards in 2009 was to upgrade the existing 90-acre property and implement organic and biodynamic viticulture. Established in Napa Valley over 50 years ago by long-time Beringer winemaker Roy Raymond, Raymond Vineyards now spans over 300 acres in Rutherford and St. Helena, the vineyards and winemaking managed under the direction of 100 pt. consulting winemaker Phillipe Melka since 2009. In addition to gaining organic and biodynamic certification for the vineyards and building one of Napa's largest solar panel projects to generate electricity for the winery, Boisset hired former Far Niente winemaker Stephanie Putnam to work alongside Melka to refine the blends, consistently garnering 90-plus points throughout her tenure.

2022 Patz & Hall Chardonnay (750ml)
Chardonnay from Sonoma Coast, California
B-21 Top Recommendation

Ripe, succulent ... generous and juicy ...The intensity persists on the finish." - Wine Spectator

Since its founding in 1988, Patz & Hall has done as much as any other producer to define Sonoma's modern wine scene, from expressive appellation bottlings to flat-out superb single-vineyard gems from the region's most storied and coveted sites.

One of the greatest features of the appellation bottlings is that they comprise many of those same incredible vineyard sites that form the top end of the range, which goes a long way in explaining the outstanding, 93-point 2022 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay. Sourced from six blocks of the famed Dutton ranch and augmented by fruit from such illustrious locales as Durell, Zio Tony, Gap's Crown, and Parmalee-Hill, the 2022 displays all the hallmark features of the ultra-classic Sonoma profile – big, vibrant fruit, soaring aromatics, scintillating tension, and exceptional balance, all at a price that makes it one of the most versatile offerings in its category. Equally impressive and maybe more so, the 96-point 2021 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir stands as one of the sharpest buys in Cali Pinot in our entire inventory, with a "Textbook vintage and AVA profile" that landed it a spot on last year's Wine Spectator Top 100 list.

Our long-time California fans are by now well familiar with the benchmark quality and character of Patz & Hall's wines, and this pair delivers everything you've come to love from a true Sonoma icon.

2022 Faust Cabernet Sauvignon (750ml)
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa, California
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

Consistently earning critical acclaim vintage over vintage including the #4 spot on the Wine Spectator's Top 100, the decadent 2022 Faust Cabernet Sauvignon continues the Faust reputation for over delivering value, an immensely satisfying Napa Cab from the founder of Quintessa offering an enticing combination of fresh, opulent dark fruit and lush, velvety tannins, unbeatably priced for Napa Cab fans to scoop up by the case and enjoy often.

Located just past Beringer heading north on Highway 29, Faust chose to open its new sleek tasting and event center in a once run down Victorian on a hillside near Healdsburg, using it as an opportunity to expose visitors to Napa's lesser-known, less-visited Coombsville AVA 20 minutes to the south where the Faust vineyard is located. Recognizing the cooler region's potential for growing Cabernet Sauvignon over a decade before it became an AVA in 2001, former Concha y Toro CEO and longtime California vintner Agustin Huneeus established Faust on the site of a former dairy farm in 1998, the early vintages of Faust establishing the reputation of Coombsville as a site capable of producing high-quality, complex Cabs and attracting a who's who of celebrated winemakers to the area including Andy Erickson and Paul Hobbs. Located just east of the town of Napa, the certified organic 128-acre Faust vineyard is planted in rich gravelly loam and volcanic rock soils that enhance minerality while the nearby cup and saucer like ridge coined the 'Coombsville caldera' funnels winds from the San Pablo Bay and create conditions for extended, gradual ripening. Blending 86% Cabernet Sauvignon with small amounts of Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc primarily from Faust's Coombsville site, former Harlan and Groth winemaker David Jelinek aged the 2022 Faust for 20 months in 25% new French oak barrels, yielding a bold and pleasurable Cab with elegant, plush fruit and bright acidity built to age gracefully over the next decade.

Declaring the AVA "Napa Valley's Rising Star," the Wine Enthusiast called Coombsville a top choice for "buyers that desire something new from Napa," the 2022 Faust Cabernet Sauvignon living up to its reputation as an exceptional, cellar worthy Napa Cab reflecting the pioneering winemaking legacy of Quintessa founder Agustin Huneeus at an incredible bargain price.

A bold, ripe and powerful red that’s also quite broad and smooth in texture. Aromas of rose petals, raspberries and red cherries, with deeper black cherries and blueberries on the mid-palate and finish. Tobacco leaves and wild sage, too. Full-bodied. Drink now or hold.

92 points, Jim Gordon, James Suckling (Apr 2025)

Faust's 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon features attractive aromas of dried herbs, pencil shavings, black cherries and cassis. It's medium to full-bodied and rather easy-drinking, not overly concentrated or rich but with enough texture to make it a steakhouse staple.

90 points, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate (Feb 2025)

Spiced (mostly red) fruits, flowers, and baking spice notes define the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon, a medium-bodied, very soft, supple, and front end-loaded effort with a nicely balanced, charming mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a good finish. Based on 86% Cabernet Sauvignon complemented with Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc, it was aged 20 months in French oak, 25% new. It's upfront and ready to go. Drink 2025-2030.

2021 Bodegas Muga Reserva (750ml)
Tempranillo from Rioja, Spain
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

Bodegas Muga's latest releases are nothing short of showstopping, as we recently found out during a tasting with importer Jorge Ordoñez. Of course, the flagship collectibles are their usual stunning selves, but it's truly at the entry-level where Muga's world-class character shines, as you can plainly see in the 2021 Reserva.

"It's a textbook example of their style in a very good year, with power, concentration and clout, elegance and freshness." - Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate

The 2021 Reserva checks all the boxes for supreme Rioja value and class. A 94-point score from Advocate, backed by additional strong press from Suckling and Wine Spectator; the pedigree of an excellent vintage; and the resources and expertise of one of Rioja's greatest names – it's all here in one ultra-charming, impressively constructed package. "A plush yet fresh Rioja," notes James Suckling, "Medium- to full-bodied and juicy, with firm, fine-grained tannins and a long, bright finish." Whether you're a hardcore Rioja fan or someone who just loves impeccably crafted wines for an absolute steal, the 2021 Muga Reserva fits the bill.

94WA 93JS 92WS

The grapes for the 2021 Reserva (sold as Crianza in Spain), mostly Tempranillo with some Garnacha Tinta, Mazuelo and Graciano, were picked late in a cooler year when they finished the harvest the 20th of October, with plenty of times for the grapes to develop full aromas and flavors and complete ripeness. It fermented destemmed and lightly crushed in oak vats with indigenous yeasts, separating qualities, villages and soils, and matured in 80% French and 20% American oak barrels, 20% of them new, for 24 months, with racking every eight to nine months. It's a textbook example of their style in a very good year, with power, concentration and clout, elegance and freshness. It was a very harmonious year; the cycle was long and the tannins ripened to perfection. It's terrific and more so for the volume they produce (984,000 bottles of it). It was fined with egg whites and bottled in January 2024.

94 points, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate (Feb 2025)

A plush yet fresh Rioja showing blackberries, dark plums, fine spices, cocoa powder and a touch of roasted red chile peppers. Medium- to full-bodied and juicy, with firm, fine-grained tannins and a long, bright finish showing some graphite, blackberries and dark chocolate. Tempranillo, garnacha, graciano and mazuelo. Drink now or hold.

93 points, Zekun Shuai, James Suckling (Aug 2024)

This is fresh and minerally up front, opening to reveal a fine mesh of chopped cherry and plum skin flavors, with fragrant hints of ground coffee, smoked paprika and dried marjoram. Sculpted tannins define the long, slightly chewy finish. Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano. Drink now through 2035. 80,000 cases made, 15,000 cases imported.

2023 Benton Lane Estate Pinot Noir (750ml)

"This is a ripe and expressive Pinot Noir..." - Clive Pursehouse, Decanter

In the realm of domestic Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley is still ground zero for unbeatable value, and Benton-Lane's 2023 Pinot Noir shows exactly why. This 86-acre estate at the southern end of Willamette Valley on the border of Benton County and Lane County (get it?) has been a source of outstanding overachievers for decades, despite being off the beaten path of Oregon's most famous AVAs. The warmer micro-climate at this end of the valley results in a wine of "generosity of fruit" and "impressive freshness," with solid critical praise and an easy case-buy price that makes it a perfect addition to your go-to Pinot repertoire.

93D 91V

This is a ripe and expressive Pinot Noir blended by Amael Orrego, who crafts this wine across more than 80 Pinot Noir blocks. Sois bois and mushroom notes show an earthy immediacy in the aromatics, followed by ripe cherries and a touch of dusty minerality. The palate is sleek, showing freshness and a surprising structure. Ripe, fleshy red berries, savoury herbs, and a fresh forest element of pine bough and raspberry leaf balance the generosity of the fruit with the elegance of the savoury and umami nuances.

A blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc making up the rest, the 2021 Raymond Reserve Selection Cabernet Sauvignon comes from 16 different vineyards. It is deep garnet-purple in color and soars from the glass with notes of warm cassis, blackberry pie, and chocolate mint, with underlying wafts of violets, pencil shavings, and cracked black pepper. The full-bodied palate is rich and seductive with great tension and velvety tannins, finishing long and layered.

Andre Clouet Brut Un Jour de 1911...Grand Cru (750ml)
Pinot Noir from Bouzy, Champagne, France
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

As the head of the historic Champagne house named for his grandfather Andre Clouet, larger than life vigneron Jean-François Clouet is considered by critics as one of the top grower-producers in the region. Jean-François' flamboyant personality, dubbed by one reviewer as a combination of "winemaker and circus ringmaster," belies his serious dedication and singular passion for producing rich and concentrated expressions of Pinot Noir-based Champagne, also known as Blanc de Noirs. From the outstanding 91pt non-vintage Grande Reserve to the exceptional 96pt Brut 1911, the champagnes of Andre Clouet exhibit the purity of the Pinot Noir fruit, with terroir-driven chalky minerality and deep complexity, ranking Andre Clouet among the region's finest producers and representing one of its best values.

Inextricably tied to Champagne's history, the Clouet family have resided in the Montagne de Reims since 1492, first serving as book printers for King Louis XV in 1491 (a legacy now reflected in the Champagne house's ornate labels), producing their first champagne in Bouzy in 1741. Highlighting the Grand Cru pedigree of their 8 hectares of mid-slope sites in Bouzy and Ambonnay, the top cuvees are sourced from these estate vineyards, with additional Pinot Noir purchased from 60 hectares of growers' vineyards and each plot vinified separately. While upholding his family's traditional approach in the vineyard including hand pruning and selection, Francois continues to innovate in the cellar, including employing Sauternes barrels sourced from Château Doisy-Daëne for aging the Brut 1911 as a way of reducing the dosage, with the goal of adjusting sweetness without adding sugar. Exhibiting a gentle mousse and refined bubbles, the wines of André Clouet also boast notably creamy textures due to Jean-François' practice of extended aging on the lees, balancing crisp acidity and tantalizing minerality.

While Andre Clouet remains relatively under the radar among the grower-producers in Champagne, these highly rated selections are among the best Blanc de Noir wines of the region, at a fraction of the price of prestige offerings from the larger Champagne houses like Krug and Bollinger. With the holiday season quickly approaching, this is the perfect opportunity to stock up on an array of the exquisite, artisanal Champagnes of Andre Clouet, one of the finest grower estates in the region today, whether for everyday enjoyment, celebrations or gifting and now offered at the best pricing on the market.

The NV Un jour de 1911... is another 100% Bouzy Pinot Noir with an ancient label design. The shining golden-colored cuvée combines ripeness, complexity and finesse with intensity and elegance on both the nose and palate. It's a powerful and rich yet very fine and balanced Champagne with great freshness and complex length. It is juicy and intense but also highly delicate, and its mineral tension and persistent finish make it a first-class wine for elaborate dishes. A great Champagne, with a label that doesn't give any more detailed information regarding vintages or disgorgement date, but we know it's always a 50/50 blend of three vintages (including one great millésime at least 10 years old) and reserve wines from a solera system. I tasted the wine as a Brut with Clouet's German importer in Bremen. You shouldn't drink it too early, as it would be a waste of its talents.

NV Agrapart Terroirs Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut Grand Cru Disgorgement July 2025 (750ml)

Crafted by artisan producer and B-21 favorite Pascal Agrapart in the chalky Cote des Blancs, Champagne Agrapart has enjoyed an under the radar reputation, but with the release of these highly rated 2025 cuvees, that's about to change. From one of the top grower-producers in the region, these selections from Agrapart offer a rare taste of meticulously crafted, terroir-driven Champagne at a remarkable value that's bound to sell out in a flash.

Now run by the fourth consecutive generation, Agrapart ranks at the top echelons of Champagne, earning a 3-star rating in the Revue de Vin du France alongside only 7 other houses, including Krug. Planted almost entirely with Chardonnay with a few small plots of Pinot Noir, the ten-hectare Agrapart Domaine comprises more than 70 small parcels predominantly in the Grand Cru villages of Avize, Cramant, Oiry, and Oger with a few Premier Cru plots on the Cote de Blancs, boasting low yielding vines averaging over 40 years of age with the oldest over 70 years. Taking the reins of his family's historic estate in Avize over four decades ago, Pascal works the soils manually while employing organic practices, tilling with horses to ensure his soils do not get compacted (one of his parcels is worked by and named for his horse Venus). Fermenting the base wines exclusively with native yeasts which he believes is critical to expressing the terroir, Pascal employs a mix of older barrels dependent on the cuvee and longer than required bottle aging on the lees, yielding gorgeous, pure fruit impeccably balanced with chalky minerality that finishes long, each cuvee uniquely identified with a different colored plaque (i.e., the round metal disk on top of the cork).

Very intense minerality dominates in this blend, with pure aromas of chalk, subtle flowers, lemons and pastry. Medium-bodied, it shows zesty acidity and a lean yet silky palate that’s elegant and delicate. Based on the 2020 and 2021 harvest. Disgorged in April 2025. Drink now.

95 points, James Suckling (Oct 2025)

The NV Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Terroirs Grand Cru is unusual in that it is a blend of three vintages (2021, 2020 and 2019) instead of the more typical two, because of very low yields in 2021. There's real density and power here, but not at the expense of Cotes des Blancs citrus, floral and mineral character. As always, the Terroirs is a blend of parcels in Avize, Oger, Cramant and Oiry, all Grand Crus. The blend is 20% 2021 and 80% split between 2020 and 2019. Dosage is 3 grams per liter. Disgorged: March 2025; multiple disgorgements throughout the year.

"Fans of classically broad shouldered and flavorsome vintages of Shiraz Bin 28 will be very happy with the 2022. It is bold yet balanced, rich and ripe but also with a strong heart and cellaring potential." - Angus Hughson, Vinous

There's not much we can or need to say about Penfolds' latest iteration of their smash-hit, best-selling Shiraz. The 2022 Bin 28 picks up right where all the previous vintages left off with a sterling critical line that includes stout praise from all corners. This wine is always a quintessential expression of Aussie Shiraz, thanks to Penfolds' complete mastery of their vineyards and winemaking. As Halliday Wine Companion's 95-point review puts it, "Penfolds impresses with a multi-regional blend. It's something they do so well; a combination of vineyard resources and masterful blending with such quality and consistency across their 'Bin' range of wines." As always, everything is so impeccably balanced and composed that it's still a shock how good the Bin 28 is when you consider its sub-$25 price. All the components work in such harmony that it's easy to lose sight of what a value it is, to the point where it's not just delicious now, but it will also cruise for a long time in the cellar. When was the last time you spent $25 on a wine you'll still be enjoying ten or 15 years from now? Exactly. So make some room in the cellar and load up, because the 2022 Bin 28 is a hit for fans of Penfolds and any great Australian Shiraz.

Quelle surprise! Penfolds impresses with a multi-regional blend. It's something they do so well; a combination of vineyard resources and masterful blending with such quality and consistency across their 'Bin' range of wines. Deep set satsuma plum, blackberry and blueberry fruits with hints of baking spices, charcuterie, violets, fennel tops, dried herbs, nicely-judged American oak and a gentle earthen hue. There's a lovely, bright fruit presence here; long, flavourful and delicious now with the promise of excellent cellaring potential.

95 points, Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion (Jul 2024)

Fans of classically broad shouldered and flavorsome vintages of Shiraz Bin 28 will be very happy with the 2022. It is bold yet balanced, rich and ripe but also with a strong heart and cellaring potential. It radiates with blackberry, cherry compote, and new leather aromas with faint spicy tones. The structure shows its class, particularly with the tannin ripeness and weight which holds the wine's shape through to a lengthy finish. Enjoyable now, but will be impressive after a decade in the cellar.

93 points, Angus Hughson, Vinous (Aug 2024)

Offers an impressive mix of fruit flavors and oak influences, finding an expressive balance between framboise, cherry and pomegranate flavors that are ripe, fleshy and fresh. On the oak side, smooth vanilla, almond nougat and milk chocolate notes are showy, along with grace notes of cedar, Saigon cinnamon and clove. Drink now through 2033. 12,360 cases imported.

93 points, MaryAnn Worobiec, Wine Spectator (Dec 2024)

The aromas of crushed stones and blackberries are impressive. Dark fruit and dusty tannins are spread out on the medium-bodied palate. It delivers plenty of pretty fruit that goes long and focused. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

The 2022 Bin 28 Shiraz was aged for 12 months in seasoned American oak hogsheads. Deep garnet-purple in color, notes of boysenberries, black cherries and fresh raspberries shoot from the glass, followed by touches of anise and tar with a pinch of Sichuan pepper. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers bright, cheery red and black fruit flavors with a lively line and ripe rounded tannins, finishing on a peppery note.

"An Argentine winemaker with rock star appeal..." - Michael Schachner, Wine Enthusiast

From one of "the most dynamic winemakers in Argentina" according to James Suckling, the thrilling 96-point 2019 Marcelo Pelleriti 1853 Old Vine Estate Heritage Malbec boasts 100-point winemaker pedigree from the Uco Valley's oldest Malbec vines, revealing ripe, juicy dark fruit with bright acidity on a lasting, savory finish and layered with plush tannins promising longevity at a remarkable value price.

Gaining international recognition as the first Argentinian-born winemaker to garner a perfect Parker score for his 100-point 2010 Chateau La Violette Pomerol, Uco Valley native Marcelo Pelleriti established his eponymous winery on his family's 110-year-old farm in La Consulta in 2007 and began a long-term collaboration with partner Miguel Priore in 2009, their shared vision to craft terroir-expressive Grand Cru wines encapsulating "the spirit of winemaking precision and creativity" in Uco Valley. Naming the estate for the year when the first Malbec vines arrived from France, Marcelo crafted the powerful 2019 Heritage Malbec from low-yielding, gnarled, pre-phylloxera Malbec vines aged over 100 years. The vineyard was vplanted in 1910 in rugged, silty loam and gravel soil at 1,050 meters above sea level, yielding tiny clusters of thick-skinned berries requiring the fruit of two vines to produce enough for a single bottle, imbuing his 1853 Malbec with rich concentration and staggering intensity. After fermenting the hand-harvested grapes with indigenous yeasts, Marcelo aged the impressive 2019 rendition for 24 months in French oak barrels with 12 months longer in bottle, yielding a "well-crafted and keenly priced" Malbec, revealing fresh, intensely concentrated fruit framed by ripe, polished tannins on a long and silky finish, the densely structured Malbec imbued with old vine complexity that guarantees longevity.

From a region producing "Argentina's best and most modern wines" according to Vinous critic Joaquin Hidalgo, the remarkably talented Marcelo Pelleriti is at the forefront of crafting terroir expressive Malbec in the Uco Valley, his blockbuster 96-point 2019 Marcelo Pelleriti 1853 Old Vine Estate Heritage Malbec offering aficionados and collectors of the best South American wines an exciting opportunity to jump on board Pelleriti's ever-rising trajectory and enjoy one of Argentina's most extraordinary Malbec values.

When we're talking collectible Italian wines, the conversation is almost always centered on the reds of Piedmont and Tuscany, but true Italian aficionados know the spectacular white wine gems that await savvy collectors, starting with Italy's undisputed benchmark Chardonnay, Cervaro della Sala from Antinori.

"...this is the best Cervaro della Sala I have tasted." - Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

The soon-to-be-released 2023 Cervaro follows the magnificent 98-point 2022 with great fanfare already in the critical press. This double 97-point stunner builds on the wine's lofty reputation as one of the world's great Chardonnays from anywhere. The historic Castello della Sala estate is the white-wine jewel in the Marchesi Antinori crown, its ancient, marine limestone soils suited to several varietals, especially Chardonnay. The Cervaro is the estate's true tête de cuvée, crafted explicitly to be a cellar-worthy treasure that can age with class alongside the best of white Burgundy. "Classic Burgundian style," notes James Suckling, and Vinous' Eric Guido calls it "pure elegance in the glass." The 2023 growing season was near perfect for the development of the Chardonnay, and the Cervaro shows it in spades, with its classically primary nose and exquisitely precise palate that show a winemaking team at the top of its game.

With the pedigree and collectible upside of many wines two or three times its price, the 2023 Cervaro della Sala is once again one of the sharpest buys in the market for reference-point, age-worthy Chardonnay.

Andre Clouet Brut Grande Reserve (375ml)

This epic Tuscan vintage keeps delivering the goods in every denominacion across the region, but it truly seems like Chianti Classico hit the highest heights of all with "majestic wines endowed with striking aromatics, layered fruit and all the energy that is such a signature of the appellation." We've seen countless head-turning standouts come through already (with more to come soon), and today we're showcasing the some of the region's best buys.

Leading off, our direct-import star Le Cinciole has, to no one's surprise, delivered incredible bang for the buck in their "juicy, vivid, and crunchy" entry-level value star. Ruffino, perhaps Chianti's most well-known estate, turned out a Wine Spectator Top 20 Riserva with their 2021 Ducale, and Fonterutoli's 2021 delivers a double-93-point powerhouse expression, "darker, more powerful and concentrated than your standard entry-level Chianti Classico" according to Monica Larner. The double 95-point 2021 Monsanto Chianti Classico Riserva stacks up as an all-time great value buy from Italy at under $30. "Aromatic, vibrant and delineated, the Riserva captures all the best qualities of the year," writes Antonio Galloni.

Finally, we are thrilled to present the 2021s from our direct-import secret weapon, Caparsa. "Caparsa remains one of Chianti Classico's under-the- radar gems, a small estate known only to relatively small subset of wine lovers," notes Galloni, "These new releases are nothing short of captivating." The DC95 2021 Chianti Classico is "pure drinking pleasure" for a mere song. Few, if any, of the Chiantis we've found in the sub-$30 price range deliver quite the impact and head-turning presence that the 2021 Caparsa does. As Galloni writes, "This is a very serious, hugely overachieving Chianti Classico." The 2021 Chianti Classico Riserva Caparsino finishes everything off with its pair of 95-point reviews from Decanter and Galloni, who praises it as "plush and wonderfully deep right out of the gate" making for "a Riserva of uncommon character and distinction."

No matter your style preference, Chianti Classico's extraordinary 2021 vintage has the perfect fit at prices that make it easy to stock up big.

This powerful red is dense yet fleshy, evoking cherry, tobacco, iron, earth and wild herb notes. Balanced and fresh, with a lingering aftertaste of fruit, savory Mediterranean herbs and mineral notes. Best from 2026 through 2041. 5,000 cases made, 500 cases imported.

93 points, Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator (Jun 2024)

Notes of raspberries and cherries with red licorice, dried orange peel and spices. Medium- to full-bodied with meaty structure. Tannins are wide and velvety with a juicy, red-fruited mid-palate. Fresh and crunchy at the end. Drink or hold.

93 points, James Suckling (Aug 2023)

From a vintage that delivered great results across the region, the 2021 Chianti Classico Fonterutoli is a bit darker, more powerful and concentrated than your standard entry-level Chianti Classico. Cherry and dark plum cede to pretty mineral tones. That extra intensity is part of the house style and is a little gift for those who appreciate more meat on those Sangiovese bones. In fact, that grape is blended with a small 10% part of Malvasia Nera and Colorino in this ample 290,000-bottle release hitting the market now.

92 points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate (Sep 2023)

The 2021 Chianti Classico Fonterutoli is redolent of dark cherry, plum, leather, licorice, menthol, dried herbs, incense and sage. Pliant and expressive, with gorgeous depth, the 2021 is a fine edition of the straight Chianti Classico.

2020 Damilano Barolo Lecinquevigne (750ml)
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont, Italy

"...this red is supple and fragrant, showing lovely harmony." - Wine Spectator

There aren't many entry-level Barolos out there that offer the kind of reliable, old-school character and class that Damilano's Lecinquevigne displays, vintage after vintage. That has everything to do with the wine's origins. A true appellation expression, Lecinquevigne is composed of vineyards in the five main villages of the region – Grinzane Cavour, La Morra, Monforte d'Alba, Barolo, and Novello – which allows for remarkable stylistic consistency in the face of varying vintage conditions.

Antonio Galloni notes of the 2020 vintage, "Grace, elegance and understatement are some of the qualities readers will find in the 2020 Barolos ... Overall, 2020 is a vintage of mid-weight Barolos. These are wines to admire for their balance and seductive appeal more than their power or structure," characteristics readily apparent in the 2020 Lecinquevigne. "The 2020 Lecinquevigne from Damilano is all about fragrance and finesse," writes Kerin O'Keefe, while Wine Spectator concurs in their 94-point review, calling it "elegant, with the potential to develop over the next two decades."

Long-time fans of the wine will find everything they've come to know and love from Damilano, while those looking to introduce themselves to the classic Barolo style without breaking the break should look no further than this confident and poised expression.

Stitched with pure cherry and raspberry fruit, this red is supple and fragrant, showing lovely harmony. Mineral, tar and eucalyptus accents add detail. There's plenty of structure, with vibrant acidity and refined tannins focusing the finish. Elegant, with the potential to develop over the next two decades. Best from 2027 through 2045.

94 points, Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator (Sep 2024)

There is a rustic, iron-like, rugged quality to this full-bodied and firmly tannic wine that will mellow somewhat with time. But enjoy it for the balsam, tar and red cherry aromas that lead to a meaty, mineral palate. Best from 2027.

The López de Heredia new releases are always some of the anticipated of the year, and our recent offer on the 2016 Cubillo Crianza kicked off the series with a bang. Now, we're back with the equally stupendous 2013 Bosconia Reserva.

"Full-bodied with depth and excellent structure. Tannins are grippy yet fine-grained and juicy, with a long, bright finish. A select, concentrated vintage."- James Suckling

The cool vintage didn't stop the Bosconia vineyard from producing a wine of proper depth and complexity, when in fact, it only added a layer of elegance to this fan-favorite Reserva that can sometimes be missing in warmer years. Along with James Suckling's 95-point review, the 2013 notched 93+ points from Wine Advocate's Luis Gutiérrez, who lauds it as "expressive, elegant and subtle, clean and complex, with polished tannins and very good acidity."

95JS 93WA

Savory berries, preserved plums, iron, orange peel, dry earth, walnut husks, graphite and mussel shells. Full-bodied with depth and excellent structure. Tannins are grippy yet fine-grained and juicy, with a long, bright finish. A select, concentrated vintage. Drink from 2026.

95 points, Zekun Shuai, James Suckling (Aug 2024)

The 2013 Viña Bosconia Reserva even in a cooler and rainier year, like 2013, has a rounder body and still 13.5% alcohol. They also insisted that "remember that we can use 15% of wine from another vintage, and perhaps we topped this one up with wine from 2015. We want consistency year after year." This matured in barrels for five years and was bottled unfiltered but fined with egg whites. It's expressive, elegant and subtle, clean and complex, with polished tannins and very good acidity (pH 3.3 and 6.7 grams of tartaric acid per liter of wine). 70,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2021.

Andre Clouet Brut Rose No. 5 (750ml)

"The successful wines of 2020 are absolutely gorgeous." - Eric Guido, Vinous

How does Brunello follow an act like the epic 2019 vintage? That's the million-dollar question surrounding Brunello's 2020 vintage, and to be sure, it doesn't boast the generation excellence or across the board consistency of 2010, 2016, or 2019, but as with any great wine region, the great producers certainly made great wines, and they're ripe for the picking if you know where to look. Today's offer distills our broad and deep selection of 2020 Brunellos into a quartet of favorites that we believe capture the vintage perfectly while offering exceptional quality-to-price ratio.

The "harmonious and vibrant" 2020 Camigliano takes this estate's overachieving class to the next level with a glowing 95-point score from Wine Spectator, while the 2020 Caparzo "is really pretty ... Creamy and so polished. It goes on for minutes. A graceful and complex 2020 Brunello," as noted James Suckling, hinting at one of the vintage's finest qualities, its approachability in the near term. Fans of the world's best Sangioveses can rest assured that all the varietal's most striking and important features can be found in spades in this stunning expression of "ample energy and dimension."

It should come as no surprise that Montosoli's most famous estate, Altesino, turned out some stellar wines yet again in this vintage. The 2020 Altesino is once again a razor-sharp buy with three of 95-point scores under its belt. "Offering both refined complexity and true drinking pleasure, with nothing heavy or weighted, it's fabulous all around," declares Dunnuck's Italy critic, Audrey Frick. Finally, the 2020 Casanova di Neri boasts an extra dimension this vintage, as that estate's legendary Cerretalto was not produced, the fruit going instead into this bottling, resulting in 96-point rendition that is "especially spicy, lifted and intense" according to Wine Advocate's Monica Larner.

As the 2020 Brunellos have come to market, it's becoming clear that this vintage is a more than worthy follow-up to the heralded 2019s, and best of all, performers like these show that they're among the smartest buys in Italian wine at the moment.

2021 Monsanto Chianti Classico Riserva (750ml)

"The 2021 Chianti Classico Riserva is a wine of pedigree and class. Aromatic, vibrant and
delineated, the Riserva captures all the best qualities of the year."
- Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Now under the third generation of the Bianchi family, Castello di Monsanto is one of the most forward-looking yet traditional estates in Chianti Classico. After all, founder Aldo Bianchi was the visionary who first choose to bottle a single-vineyard wine from their prized Il Poggio parcel, and now his granddaughter, Laura, runs the estate with the same view toward the future that her father and grandfather did, and they now produce some of the most acclaimed, traditionally styled wines in the region.

Another "sublime effort" from an epic vintage, the 2021 Chianti Classico Riserva is the estate's flagship expression of its philosophy and terroir, an ideal Tuscan microclimate that, along with the estate's use of Slavonian oak, produces Sangiovese wines of artisanal finesse and refinement. With a mountain of sterling critical praise, including several 95-point reviews, the 2021 Riserva stacks up as an all-time great value buy from Italy at well under $30, so you can (and should) consider stacking it by the case.

95WS 95JS 95D 94V 94WE

This luscious, dense red is packed with cherry, blackberry, pomegranate and violet flavors. Its tannins are ripe and refined, while the vibrant acidity keeps everything focused. An iron streak weaves through the long, energetic finish. This is approachable now yet will be better in 2–3 years. Best from 2026 through 2045. 833 cases made, 400 cases imported.

95 points, Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator (Oct 2024)

A deep and complex wine with licorice, dried cherries, pomegranates, bergamot and violets on the nose. Soft on the palate, it’s powerful and extracted yet not without grace due to velvety tannins, a full body and tight-knit acidity. Super-tense finish. Drink or hold.

95 points, James Suckling (Mar 2025)

The intention with Castello di Monsanto’s Riserva is to make a wine with immediate accessibility as well as serious cellaring potential. Gorgeous and precise from the get-go, the 2021 is profuse in aromas of black pepper, flint and earthy brambles. Equally perfumed, the palate ups the ante with rose, bergamot and graphite. A firm tannic spine and linear acidity are matched by fruit depth galore, all intricately and tightly stitched. My instinct is that this is only going to get better, so I prefer to wait. The solution is to buy a few bottles to enjoy its evolution.

95 points, Michaela Morris, Decanter (Apr 2025)

The 2021 Chianti Classico Riserva is a wine of pedigree and class. Aromatic, vibrant and delineated, the Riserva captures all the best qualities of the year. Crushed flowers, dark red/purplish fruit, mint, blood orange and pomegranate are some of the many notes that build in the glass. This is a sublime effort.

94 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Jul 2024)

The Monsanto expressions of Sangiovese are uniformly excellent, but all in marvelously different ways. The Riserva always stands out to me for the depth and texture it offers, and for the riot of Tuscan herbs that sprout on the nose, before ripe, snappy cherry notes light up the palate.
