There are less than a handful of profound bottlers in Beaujolais; winemakers who routinely offer us wines which are solidly on par with anything you'd taste from the Côte d'Or. Folks who make wine for die-hard Beaujolais fanatics and who have such a stellar reputation that no matter which wine you opt for, you're drinking the best juice from that particular lieu dit. Daniel Bouland is one of them. Along with Lapierre and Foillard, nobody does it better in the village of Morgon. Serious about your serious Beaujolais? You're gonna want Bouland's wines.

Aromas of cherries, blackberries, cassis, dark chocolate and smoked meats introduce the 2019 Morgon Pré Jourdan, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and generous wine with an ample core of nicely concentrated fruit, succulent acids and fine, elegantly chalky tannins. As readers will remember, this new cuvée—which debuted with the 2018 vintage—derives from a lieu-dit near the village in the direction of Fleurie.
