Oak aging plays a larger role in shaping the intensity and texture of the Barone Ricasoli 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva Brolio (with 80,000 bottles produced). You can count on a solid 10-year aging window for this wine. Made with all Sangiovese, the wine is balanced and especially bright with dark fruit, spice and cured tobacco. It offers soft tannins, ample volume and lingering hints of toast and spice. This is another terrific value (with some aging potential too).

93+ points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate (Feb 2023)

Well-marked by new oak, offering cherry, plum, iron and spice aromas and flavors, this red is concentrated and vibrant. Delivers dense and interwoven tannins, with a lingering aftertaste echoing cherry, mineral and spice. Best from 2025 through 2040. 6,600 cases made, 2,100 cases imported.

93 points, Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator (Sep 2022)

Spicy nose of nutmeg, paprika, pine cones, cherries and iodine. Medium-to full-bodied with firm, creamy tannins. Compact and focused. Stones and lemons at the end. Try from 2023.

92 points, James Suckling (Jul 2022)

The 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva Brolio is packed with dark cherry fruit, plum, mocha, chocolate, sweet oak, leather and spice. This racy, overt Riserva is on the flamboyant side, but all the elements are nicely melded together.

91 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Jul 2022)
