Crafted by "one of the top estates in the Languedoc, if not southern France" according to the Wine Advocate, the 91pt 2018 Chateau Puech-Haut Prestige offers dark, spiced fruit with classic garrigue nuances of wild herbs, a soulful, elegantly crafted Rhone style blend delivering superb value.

Regarded as one of the Eastern Languedoc's pioneering wine estates since its founding in 1981, visionary Gerard Bru has pursued a quest for excellence at Chateau Puech Haut over the last four decades, from transporting a classical villa stone by stone from nearby Montpelier to build the estate's chateau and expanding the vineyard holdings to over 200 hectares, to steadily building the estate's reputation for quality with the guidance of top consulting enologists including Michel Rolland and the late Phillipe Cambie. Enjoying moderating maritime influences from the nearby Mediterranean Sea, the vines for the Prestige cuvee grow at altitudes from 50 to 150 meters on a rocky mix of clay and limestone dominated by stones similar to the galet roules of Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Composed of mostly 65-80 year old vine Grenache with 45 year old vine Syrah, the powerful 2018 Prestige was aged for 12 months in concrete before being bottled unfiltered, yielding rich, pure fruit with earthy, mineral nuances, juicy acidity and a velvety finish.

Built on a decades long legacy of producing consistently exceptional wines described as "the real deal" by critic Robert Parker, the 91pt 2018 Chateau Puech-Haut Prestige expresses the earth-driven character and pure magic of the best Southern Rhone blends at a fraction of the cost, at an unbeatable value price to enjoy often.

A 60-40 blend of Grenache and Cinsault, the 2021 IGP Pays d'Oc Argali Rosé is a pale flamingo-hued wine with tempting aromas of just-ripe strawberries, white peaches and lime zest, backed by hints of crushed stone. Plump and medium-bodied in the mouth, it fades a bit quickly on the finish, but remains fresh and appealing.

89 points, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate (Aug 2022)
