I began using B21 about 2 years ago. Wish I had found them sooner. They represent about 70% to 80 % of my liquor buys. Only the odd things are purchased elsewhere. Once you use them you will be hooked. Inventory, professional staff, quick shipping and competative pricing are what I really appreciate. Try them, you have nothing to lose and much to gain.

2021 Giovanni Manzone Barolo Gramolere (750ml)
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont, Italy
B-21 Top Recommendation

"Manzone turned out a fabulous set of 2021 Barolos ... Readers who enjoy savory, classically built Barolos informed by cooler microclimates will want to check these wines out." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Giovanni Manzone is one of Barolo's great hidden gems, and we're excited to kick our direct partnership with them into high gear with the fabulous 2021 vintage. Based in Monforte d'Alba, Manzone owns prime parcels in Castelletto and Gramolere, where today's pair of single-vineyard all-stars comes from.

"The 2021 Barolo Gramolere is deep, layered and super-expressive ... a drop-dead gorgeous beauty," declares Antonio Galloni of Vinous. This steep south/southwest-facing slope, situated between Castelletto and Bussia, is ideal Nebbiolo terroir, and the wines it produces are consistently classic in style. The rocky, with clay-calcareous soils are too poor to grow anything other than vines, so of course, we're talking about primo raw materials for stunning, single-cru Barolo. Galloni doesn't mince words about the Castelletto either: "This poised, dramatic Barolo has it all. It's one of the very finest wines I have tasted at this address in a very long time. Don't miss it." The 2021 rendition more than lives up to the hype with "a beguiling mix of aromatic intensity, fruit depth and structure." This steep, east-southeast-facing slope of sandy, calcareous soils yields a classical style of Barolo, and the incredible 2021 growing season puts its stamp on this monumental expression. A complete wine in every sense, the 2021 Castelletto is an ultimate Piedmont insider's score, standing with other Barolo masterpieces (like Sandrone's Le Vigne, Burlotto's Casteletto, and Vietti's Cerequio, to name a few) at a mere fraction of their prices.

We recently tasted the full range of Manzone 2021s, and they as quintessential in style as you could wish for from a great Barolo vintage – perfect fruit ripeness, exquisite aromatics, and textural brilliance, all in primary form and ready to evolve into something special.

96V

The 2021 Barolo Gramolere is deep, layered and super-expressive. Blood orange, cinnamon, star anise and cedar give the 2021 a gorgeous, exotic aromatic flair. Plush and layered in the glass, with exceptional resonance, the Gramolere is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty. The long, explosive finish invites a second taste, and then a third.

ASW Fiddler Big Green Egg 100° Bourbon Whiskey (750ml)
From Atlanta, Georgia
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

If you've never heard of Atlanta's ASW Distillery, it's time you did. This highly awarded craft operation has racked up some solid insider and industry attention in their short lifespan with their sourced bottlings, and now that they're hitting full stride with their own make coming to maturity, they're about to go next level. Self-styled "Southern Pot-Still Pioneers," the team headed by master distiller Justin Manglitz uses a high-wheat mash bill and double distillation on Vendome copper pot stills to craft some exceptional-quality distillate that is then subjected to a wide array of cask finishes, some of which can only be described as highly experimental. This avant-garde approach has naturally given rise to their aptly named Fiddler range of whiskeys.

In a stroke of mad genius, the Big Green Egg collaboration is perhaps their most intriguing experiment yet. Long story short, Manglitz decided to toast or char barrel staves in a Big Green Egg smoker (yes, the same that now has a rabid sub-culture among barbecue fans), and use them for finishing. "Gimmicky? Maybe, but the results in the bottle bear it out, big time," notes B-21's Andrew Kitz. The 100-proof flagship Big Green Egg bottling offers a notable influence of the finishing process in its "slightly austere yet subtly complex" profile that centers on the savory, spicy side of things despite ASW's high-wheat, signature mash. The Big Green Egg Georgia Heartwood bottling, by contrast, boasts an "extremely opulent" aromatic profile with a "broad, tannic, structurally firm palate" showcasing superb definition and depth. For single cask effort, Manglitz hand-harvested oak from north Georgia forests and applied the BGE treatment to every third stave. "Whatever you think of the method ... something is working out in incredible fashion here," declares Andrew.

Finally, the Fiddler Encore #2 Cigar Batch is just such an experimental effort, blended from mostly 7-year-old juice finished in port pipe, maple syrup cask, and sherry butt. The result is "a one-of-a-kind bourbon profile" according to B-21 Spirits Buyer Andrew Kitz, with an "absolutely gorgeous" aromatic profile and a "luxurious ... incredibly complex" palate. You might look askance at the finishing regimen, but once you taste the results, we're sure you'll be on board in a big way. This is quintessential high-wheat opulence with its own singular personality that is poised to put ASW on the map in a big way. As Andrew notes, "if this release in any indication at the direction they’re headed, cult bourbon fans are going to start taking serious notice of them."

92AK

One of the remarkable aspects of this Atlanta-based distillery is their in-house cooperage, which allows them to do all sorts of wild experimentations. While not everything hits, the Big Green Egg collaboration certainly does. In case you’re wondering, yes, we’re talking about that Big Green Egg, the famous smoker that now has a rabid cult following. Barbecue fans know. Long story short, Master Distiller Justin Manglitz chars and toasts various staves in a Big Green Egg ceramic smoker, and then subjects their high-wheat mash, 7-year-old juice to a few months finishing with the various staves. This is a racy, savory, vibrant profile that’ll make for a killer Old Fashioned, but you can just as easily sip it with a cube or two on a warm afternoon. The nose starts off with crisp red apple and pear notes, along with spicy cumin, paprika, and deep cherry wood aromas. The BGE effect comes through clearly in a subtle but undeniable smoky character that oscillates between cool campfire embers and a more acrid gunflint tone. Hints of kettle corn and burnt toffee provide additional depth. The medium-weight palate shows much the same character as the nose, with the smoky BGE character coming through in more pronounced fashion on the medium-long finish, which also carries a touch of medicinal, herbaceous lift. With a lot of “experimental” whiskeys, I often wonder what’s the point? Not so here – it’s clear that Manglitz’ hair-brained scheme worked, and it produced something truly unique and compelling.

2019 Chateau Branaire-Ducru (750ml)

B-21 Top Recommendation

"Acknowledging that 2019 is already a heralded vintage, the salient question is whether it represents the summit of the 2018, 2019 and 2020 triumvirate. 'Yes' is the answer. I have always felt that is the case." - Neal Martin, Vinous

Of course, you may or may not agree with Martin in terms of 2019 place in the "trifecta," but it's undeniable that is a truly spectacular Bordeaux vintage that has more than lived up to its day-one hype since the wine's have hit the market, hit collector's cellars, and found their way into the glasses of impatient enthusiasts. Best of all, pricing has always been highly favorable compared to 2018 and 2020 (to say nothing of 2022), so the 2019s have also been some of the sharpest collectible buys on the market from the get-go and remain so today.

We've just landed a must-see treasure trove from this heralded campaign at ... you guessed it ... razor-sharp pricing cross the board, with superb performers in every classification and price tier.

95WA 95V 95JS 94WS 94JA 93WI

The 2019 Branaire-Ducru unwinds in the glass with aromas of raspberries, blackcurrants, sweet soil tones and hints of cigar wrapper, rose petals and cedar. Medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, it's youthfully tightly wound, with terrific concentration, tangy acids, powdery tannins and a long, saline finish. While this is a little reserved out of the gates, its energy and classical proportions will richly reward bottle age.

95 points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate (Apr 2022)

The 2019 Branaire-Ducru is rich, layered and sumptuous. Black cherry, licorice, spice, leather tobacco and tar build effortlessly in the glass. The 2019 impresses with its density and pure power, which makes it perhaps atypical for Branaire by its historic standards, but it may be the direction the château seems to be headed in. The aromatics are a bit closed right now, but time in bottle should help take care of that.

95 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Feb 2022)

Very clear fruit character of blackcurrants, orange peel and spices. Some walnut, too. It’s full-bodied with integrated, polished tannins and shows finesse and focus. Love the focused fruit at the end of this. Strength with finesse. Give it four to five years of bottle age. Try after 2024.

95 points, James Suckling (Dec 2021)

Leads with vivid violet and cassis, while dark plum, blackberry and boysenberry reduction notes follow quickly. Racy, structured and well-built, with graphite and apple wood driving through the finish. Very pure and aromatic, featuring a nice sanguine echo that lingers at the very end. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2025 through 2038. 13,000 cases made, 1,950 cases imported.

94 points, James Molesworth, Wine Spectator (Mar 2022)

One of the more discreet St Juliens, undergoing a great resurgence right now, and this stands out for its quality and value. Tobacco leaf, baked earth, crushed rocks, crayon and mint leaf set against blueberry and cassis fruits. Balanced, with the finesse of the appellation. Ideally this is put away for another four years or so, but it has the delicacy that makes it just about approachable if you can't wait. I drank it with friends a few months ago, and nobody was complaining. 43hl/h yield.

94 points, Jane Anson (Dec 2023)

The 2019 Branaire-Ducru is a blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, and 4% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, it flies out of the glass with notes of crushed blackcurrants, black cherries, and stewed plums, plus wafts of rose oil, cinnamon toast, and fragrant earth. The medium-bodied palate is juicy and plush, with lively acidity and a spicy finish.

96V 96JS 94WI 94WA 94JD

The 2019 Malescot St. Exupéry is quite possibly the most elegant wine I have tasted here. Plush and radiant, the 2019 possesses notable depth with plenty of supporting structure beneath surprisingly tamed tannins. Gravel, dark red cherry/plum, spice, leather and dried flowers build over time. The 2019 is a magical wine endowed with tremendous character. Don't miss it.

96 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Feb 2022)

Sweet currant and berry aromas with hints of blackcurrants, black cherries and flowers. It’s full-bodied and layered with beautifully polished tannins that last for minutes. Tight and very focused. This needs at least six or seven years to open. Try after 2027.

96 points, James Suckling (Feb 2022)

The 2019 Malescot Saint-Exupery is deep garnet-purple in color. It prances out with gregarious black and red cherries, fragrant earth, blackcurrant pastilles, and violets notes plus wafts of tar and fallen leaves. The velvety, medium-bodied palate is laden with vibrant, energetic black and red berry layers, lifted by a refreshing backbone and finishing long and fruity.

94+ points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Independent (May 2022)

The 2019 Malescot St. Exupery is generous and expressive, bursting with aromas of cassis, cherries and blackberries mingled with hints of loamy soil, dark chocolate and espresso roast. Full-bodied, broad and muscular, its fleshy core of fruit is framed by succulent acids and ripe, powdery tannins that assert themselves on the finish. This will reward a bit of bottle age with flamboyant drinking.

94 points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate (Apr 2022)

The 2019 Château Malescot Saint Exupéry has an almost old-school vibe in its cedary, herbal, meaty, almost gamey aromatics, but it has beautiful purity in its both black and blue fruits. Medium to full-bodied, on the palate, it's nicely concentrated, has building tannins, good mid-palate density, and a great finish. I don't think it matches the 2016 and 2018, but it's a seriously good Margaux that already offers pleasure. It won't hit maturity for another 7-8 years but should have a lengthy drinking plateau.

2023 Veyder-Malberg Gruner Veltliner Hochrain (750ml)
Gruner Veltliner from Wachau, Lower Austria, Austria
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

"Based on this showing, Veyder-Malberg is indeed as mad and as genius as they say he is." - Andrew Kitz, B-21 Austria Buyer

You may not know Peter Veyder-Malberg, but among Austrian wine insiders, he's one of the most iconoclastic, not to mention talented, winemakers in the Wachau. His wines don't get nearly the wider attention that they deserve thanks to his general aversion to having them reviewed professionally (he's not a fan of tagging an arbitrary number onto his wines), so in order to get an idea of how truly special they are, you have to taste them yourself, and that's what B-21 Austria buyer Andrew Kitz recently did with the exceptional 2023s.

Based in the Spitzer Graben, a narrow side valley of the Wachau with a decidedly cooler microclimate, Veyder-Malberg has been marching to the beat of his own drummer since the beginning, and the results are in a class all their own, starting with his "entry-level" Grüner Veltliner Liebedich. Sourced from many of Wachau's most prized sites, including Loibenberg and Hochrain, it's "a quintessential example of Austria’s most famous native grape in every way ... a layered, textured expression that Austrian wine fans shouldn’t miss."

His true genius, however, shines in his single-vineyard wines, like the 2023 Grüner Veltliner Hochrain. Andrew describes a 95-point expression with aromas of "pure, shimmering minerality" and a palate that's "achingly elegant and precise ... a study in restrained intensity and ethereal elegance." Likewise, the 96-point 2023 Riesling Bruck is a remarkable, singular style that could only come from a winemaker like Veyder-Malberg. "Peter Veyder-Malberg’s 2023 Riesling Bruck is simply stunning. Like his other wines, it demands time, it demands proper temperature, and it demands attention. When all three conditions are met, you’re rewarded with a Riesling of absolutely beguiling delicacy, shimmering personality, and generally jaw-dropping finesse."

It bears noting that these are not wines for immediate gratification. They are intellectual to say the least, and the 2023s at the moment are very primary, so patient collectors can confidently stock up knowing there is some tremendous evolution in store. If you're a fan of truly world-class Austrian wines, you need to jump on the Veyder-Malberg train without hesitation.

95AK

I expected Peter Veyder-Malberg’s 2023 Hochrain Grüner to be singular in many ways, and it was. Malberg’s parcels sit high on the slope where the layer of loess overlaying the paragneiss bedrock is much thinner than down on the lower slopes, and this Hochrain exhibits the corresponding filigreed precision that plays perfectly into Malberg’s winemaking style. It’s shy at first, like all Malberg’s wines, giving up not much else but pure, shimmering minerality and tightly wound citrus pith and green apple blossom. Give it time and aggressive swirling and it fleshes out beautifully, though. That pure mineral foundation remains, but the fruit soon broadens into Golden Delicious apples, quince, and bright, vibrant Meyer lemon. A corresponding floral overtone emerges as well, extraordinarily heady and aromatic and permeating all the other elements. The palate is achingly elegant and precise, again not giving up much at first, but when the pieces come together, it’s a study in restrained intensity and ethereal elegance. Pinpoint acidity frames flavors of piquant citrus skin and tart pear, along with salt and pepper undertones that lead to a struck-flint finish that simply dances with grace. A Grüner for the cellar, if you really want to experience it in its full glory.

Peter Veyder-Malberg’s 2023 Riesling Bruck is simply stunning. Like his other wines, it demands time, it demands proper temperature, and it demands attention. When all three conditions are met, you’re rewarded with a Riesling of absolutely beguiling delicacy, shimmering personality, and generally jaw-dropping finesse. The Bruck is cool and shy at first, but as it airs out, the mica-schist bedrock and 350m elevation show their stuff. An incredible core of head-turning, perfumed floral aromas and crystal-clear minerality defies description, with secondary notes of kaffir lime leaf, lilies, and cardamom spice eventually coming out. The filigreed, laser-precise palate is a thing of almost surreal beauty, completely enthralling yet weightless in feel and texture. Again, the nascent complexity is really something to get lost in – if you pay attention to it. More crystalline minerality is the foundation for soaring, high-note floral flavors like iris, honeysuckle, and geranium. The fruit is almost an afterthought, but notes of melon rind, lime zest, and yuzu are integrated so well into all the mineral/floral complexity, but they really pop on the medium-length finish. I will admit, it was so light and delicate at first that I didn’t know what to think, but it quickly blossomed into one of the most intriguing Austrian Rieslings I’ve had in a while. Based on this showing, Veyder-Malberg is indeed as mad and as genius as they say he is.

NV Agrapart 7 Crus Extra Brut Disgorgement July 2025 (750ml)
Sparkling from Avize, Champagne, France
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

Crafted by artisan producer and B-21 favorite Pascal Agrapart in the chalky Cote des Blancs, Champagne Agrapart has enjoyed an under the radar reputation, but with the release of these highly rated 2025 cuvees, that's about to change. From one of the top grower-producers in the region, these selections from Agrapart offer a rare taste of meticulously crafted, terroir-driven Champagne at a remarkable value that's bound to sell out in a flash.

Now run by the fourth consecutive generation, Agrapart ranks at the top echelons of Champagne, earning a 3-star rating in the Revue de Vin du France alongside only 7 other houses, including Krug. Planted almost entirely with Chardonnay with a few small plots of Pinot Noir, the ten-hectare Agrapart Domaine comprises more than 70 small parcels predominantly in the Grand Cru villages of Avize, Cramant, Oiry, and Oger with a few Premier Cru plots on the Cote de Blancs, boasting low yielding vines averaging over 40 years of age with the oldest over 70 years. Taking the reins of his family's historic estate in Avize over four decades ago, Pascal works the soils manually while employing organic practices, tilling with horses to ensure his soils do not get compacted (one of his parcels is worked by and named for his horse Venus). Fermenting the base wines exclusively with native yeasts which he believes is critical to expressing the terroir, Pascal employs a mix of older barrels dependent on the cuvee and longer than required bottle aging on the lees, yielding gorgeous, pure fruit impeccably balanced with chalky minerality that finishes long, each cuvee uniquely identified with a different colored plaque (i.e., the round metal disk on top of the cork).

93JS 91V

A fresh and floral wine with forthright aromas of lime zest and chalk. Very silky on the palate, with zesty yet integrated acidity, a touch of licorice flavors and a minerally finish. 90% chardonnay and 10% pinot noir. Drink now.

93 points, James Suckling (Oct 2025)

The NV (2022) Brut 7 Crus is such a fabulous introduction to this range. In this release, the 7 Crus is especially generous, which makes it all the more appealing in the near term. Citrus confit, marzipan, dried flowers, mint and crushed rocks build in the glass, finishing with a notable substance and power. This release, based on 2022, is one of the best recent 7 Crus I can remember tasting. A standout. Dosage is 4 grams per liter. Disgorged: June 2025; multiple disgorgements throughout the year.

2021 Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino (750ml)
Sangiovese from Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

Andrea Cortonesi's Uccelliera is a bastion of traditional Brunello, and it's in acclaimed vintages like 2021 that they find their purest, most authentic expression. We just secured a first-tranche parcel of remarkable pricing that have any serious Tuscan collector loading up on this benchmark wine.

"A spicy and classic Brunello..." - James Suckling

Spanning ten hectares, including two hectares bordering Ciacci Piccolomini''s famous Pianrosso vineyard, Uccelliera's sustainably farmed Sangiovese vines are planted in sandy loam soils mixed with stones and rich in crumbled fossils, situated on slopes from 150 to 350 meters above sea level that enjoy a unique microclimate protected by towering Mount Amiata and cooled during the hot summers by breezes off the nearby Orcia River. Fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks, the "bold and beautiful" 2021 Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino was aged in a mix of Slavonian and French oak barrels of various sizes for 24 months with extended bottle aging (a total of five years aging required by the DOC), yielding elegant, aromatic fruit and lush, textured tannins that "once again underscores Andrea Cortonesi’s ability to translate terroir with precision and consistency," according to the Wine Advocate's Monica Larner.

96JS 95V 94WA

A spicy and classic Brunello with vibrant aromas of wild strawberries, raspberries, violets, smoky wood and licorice. Full-bodied, it shows balanced extraction, tamed velvety tannins, refreshing acidity and a super-savory, minerally finish. Juicy and long. Drink or hold.

96 points, Aldo Fiordelli, James Suckling (Dec 2025)

Minty herbs mix with shavings of pine, dried strawberries and dusty earth as the 2021 Brunello di Montalcino blossoms in the glass. It displays exceptional finesse and grace, with silken waves of ripe red and blue fruits elevated by fresh acidity. Inner rose tones and a tactile mineral crunch add form toward the close. The 2021 leaves a pleasantly chewy sensation and a tart blackberry twang, tapering off with excellent length and a totally classic feel.

95 points, Eric Guido, Vinous (Nov 2025)

The Uccelliera 2021 Brunello di Montalcino, produced in 34,733 bottles plus 900 magnums, shows a deep core of dark fruit and black cherry while remaining gracefully vertical and bright. Notes of spice, forest floor and sweet earth weave through the fruit, creating balance and a steady sense of richness that carries seamlessly across the palate. Grapes are harvested with the use of dry ice and fermented in stainless steel on indigenous yeasts, followed by 36 months of aging in oak vessels of varying sizes. All of this locks in aromas. The fruit comes from Castelnuovo dell’Abate at elevations ranging from 150 to 350 meters on mineral-rich, rocky soils, and this bottling once again underscores Andrea Cortonesi’s ability to translate terroir with precision and consistency.

"This is an extraordinary vintage that will go down in record books as one of the all-time greats." - Jeb Dunnuck

When Bordeaux's 2022 vintage premiered three years ago, there was some uncertainty as to how the wines would play out from such a hot, dry growing season, one which surely promised wines of massive power, ripeness, and weight. Would it be too much of a good thing?

As it appeared then, and as it has turned out now that the wines are releasing to market, it's an extraordinary campaign among the best of the century. As Dunnuck observes, "Now that the wines are in bottles, it’s clear they have fully lived up to the early hype—and not just at the high end. The 2022s are deep, layered, and concentrated while staying beautifully balanced, light on their feet, and elegant."

Today's selection presents an incredible treasure trove that showcases the vintage's greatest features at every price in the spectrum, leaving no doubt as to how good 2022 Bordeaux really is.

96JD 95WE 94JS 94JA

Based on 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, the 2022 Château Lascombes pulls from 40% of the total production and was aged 18 months mostly in barrels (60% new) with a small portion in foudre. This inky hued beauty boasts a rich, concentrated, full-bodied, well-oaked style as well as pure cassis and darker berry fruits, some graphite, scorched earth, and licorice nuances, terrific overall balance, and a great finish. This more modern styled, pure, seamless beauty will benefit from 4-6 years of bottle age and keep for 30 years.

96+ points, Jeb Dunnuck (Feb 2025)

This large estate is now settled well into its elegant stye. This new release is lifted with a licorice aroma and dense texture. It is juicy, packed with chocolate flavors and ripe tannins. The wine has a fine future. Drink from 2029.

95 points, Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast (Apr 2025)

This is a full-bodied Bordeaux with lots of velvety tannins and intensity. It’s a bit old-school now with so much fruit and texture, but it’s impressive, to say the least. Plenty of blackcurrant and blueberry character. Shows the richness of the vintage. Best after 2030.

94 points, James Suckling (Jan 2025)

Lascombes is a vintage over the past few decades that has shown the heat in the hottest vintages, but while this is exuberant, it is well balanced with cassis, damson, cocoa bean, fennel, liquorice bud, peony and crushed rocks. Has clearly improved over ageing, which is rare in 2022. One to watch, especially with the changes that they have in mind. Good stuff. 2023 Servin Bougros Grand Cru (750ml)
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy, France
B-21 Top Recommendation

"The 30-hectare Domaine Servin ... continues to number among Chablis's most reliable addresses." - William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Long-time B-21 Burgundy aficionados know Domaine Servin as a bastion of the classical Chablis style. Year in and year out, this exceptional estate holds true to the characteristics that have earned the region its legions of adoring fans. Even in a warm vintage like 2023, the domaine's extensive range of wines maintain the chiseled cut and energy that fans of the old school know and love.

These are proven performers that deliver quintessential Chablis style and first-class QPR. A standout trio of 1er crus is lead by the "simply beautiful" Montée de Tonnerre that garnered 94 points from View From the Cellar's John Gilman and 90-93 points and an Outstanding designation from Meadows of Burghound, who notes its "The super-sleek, intense and equally attractively textured flavors " The crown jewels in the Servin stable are undoubtedly the Les Clos and Bougros Grands Crus, both of which are superbly structured renditions that collectors will love to have in their cellars for years to come.

As the region's recent growing seasons have tended to favor a more modern, upfront style, it's becoming increasingly harder to find Chablis expressions that capture the very best of what made the region famous in the first place, but Domaine Servin is still holding true to form, and you'll be hard-pressed to find more transparent terroir character in the 2023 vintage than this line-up on offer today.

94V 93BH

The 2023 Chablis Bougros Grand Cru is aged in regular used barrels, two to three-years old mainly. I find this more enticing than the Blanchots at the moment, with more delineation and mineralité, touches of wilted white flowers and an attractive leesy element. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, a little waxy in texture. Hints of almond and even white chocolate are deftly interwoven on the finish. Excellent.

92-94 points, Neal Martin, Vinous (Aug 2024)

The ripe and agreeably fresh aromas of green fruit, essence of pear and tidal pool are trimmed in moderate wood toast. There is better mid-palate density to the more powerful and muscular flavors that possess a generous mouthfeel before tightening up on the impressively persistent if slightly rustic finale. This built-to-age Bougros has the structure to repay at least a decade of keeping, perhaps even a bit more if you enjoy well-aged Chablis.

93V 93BH

The 2023 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru is raised in used barrels. The nose here is much more reticent than the Bougros, demanding coaxing from the glass. Given a few swirls, eventually, it offers quite attractive yellow fruit, beeswax and lanolin scents. The palate is well balanced with a more exotic white peach and apricot. This more-of-a-crowd-pleasing Les Clos doesn't possess the acidity of the previous vintage, but there is certainly weight and length. It will be one of the earlier-drinking Les Clos.

91-93 points, Neal Martin, Vinous (Aug 2024)

Moderate wood frames more prominent floral influence on the aromas of algae, citrus confit and oyster shell. The succulent yet nicely tension-filled broad-shouldered flavors are quite rich and generously proportioned where the wood telegraphed by the nose is picked up by the solidly long and borderline chewy finale that is refreshingly dry. This isn't what I would describe as a classic Les Clos but it's impressive in its fashion and should age accordingly yet be approachable young.

2021 Prunotto Barolo Bussia (750ml)

Under the ownership of Italian wine titan Marchesi Antinori, Barolo's famed Prunotto estate is poised to go on a run for the ages. Antinori has gone all in on this property, from vineyard management to winemaking. As Antonio Galloni observes, "Today, the wines are good as they have ever been," and with the exceptional stable of sites in the portfolio, the estate continues to reach new heights seemingly with each passing vintage. The 2021 Barolos are exceptionally fine, highlighted by the iconic Bussia vineyard.

"...a mysterious, complex Barolo that reveals myriad shades of nuance over time." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

This soon-to-be-legendary vintage put its full stamp on the 2021 Bussia from Prunotto, resulting in "a heady, beguiling wine" that shows the full poise and precision of the 2021 growing season in its deep yet tightly wound personality. It's "well endowed with classic Nebbiolo architecture but graciously leaves space for the fruit to expand," which indicates that this rendition can be enjoyable for impatient Barolo fans who give it a good decant. However, make no mistake – this is one for the cellar as its myriad facets are nowhere near ready to show themselves in full. Galloni sums it up perfectly when he writes, "There's a lot of wine here. I can't wait to see how this ages."

We've just sourced a parcel at prime pricing in both 750ml and 1.5L magnum format, so our private clients can get the jump on one of the 2021 Barolo campaign's sharpest collectible buys.

95V 95JS 94D 93WA 93JD 93WS

The 2021 Barolo Bussia is a heady, beguiling wine. Dark fruit, spice, herbs, licorice and balsamic notes open in a mysterious, complex Barolo that reveals myriad shades of nuance over time. Muscular tannins appear on the mid-palate and finish as this deceptively mid-weight Barolo opens with a bit of coaxing. There's a lot of wine here. I can't wait to see how this ages.

95 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Sep 2025)

A complex and austere wine with sleek aromas of red cherries, red currants, wax, violets and licorice. Full-bodied, it shows velvety tannins, a full-bodied palate, integrated and refreshing acidity and a crisp, chewy finish. A graceful interpretation of Bussia. Drink or hold.

95 points, James Suckling (Oct 2025)

This latest release is progressing beautifully, divulging a little more of its intricacies since I tried it almost a year ago. It offers a heady mélange of alpine blossoms, dusty sage, sweet earth and vanillin. The palate is well endowed with classic Nebbiolo architecture but graciously leaves space for the fruit to expand. Raspberry liqueur is countered by a distinct salinity on the attack. The tannins are taut yet sweet, stretching out to the baking spice finish. Tempting now but should benefit from another year in the bottle.

94 points, Michaela Morris, Decanter (Oct 2025)

The Prunotto 2021 Barolo Bussia (with 20,000 bottles released) is a little shy or closed on first nose and will require extra time in bottle before you pop the cork. This estate has eight hectares of vines in Bussia to source fruit from. It exhibits a lean and delicate consistency with blue flowers, orange peel and redcurrant. There are hints of grilled herb as well. Winemaking is simple, with phases in stainless steel and oak.

93 points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate (Jun 2025)

The 2021 Barolo Bussia is also a medium red color and has a more introspective and serious nose with notes of licorice, dark stones, red cherries, and leather. It fills the palate with ripe tannins, a ripe mid-palate, and a good finish with a note of sweet fruit and a light meaty feel, although it’s very well-integrated into the fabric of the wine. It has a bit more depth in the range and should drink well over the coming 12-15 years.

93 points, Audrey Frick, Jeb Dunnuck (May 2025)

This is light and more on the elegant side, offering cherry, strawberry, hay, green olive and iron flavors. It's lively and resonant, picking up a line of powdery tannins as it winds down on the finish. Vibrant and long in the end. Best from 2029 through 2045. 300 cases imported.

Hampden Estate 8yr Single Estate Rum (750ml)
From Wakefield, Trelawney, Jamaica
B-21 Top Recommendation

Among rum fanatics, the Hampden name instills a sense of reverence and, you might even say, joy thanks to their incredible, single-estate expressions that are known the world over. The estate's storied history as a sugar plantation and distillery dates back 265 years, but it was only in 2010 that they began aging their rums on site, and only in 2018 that they began bottling under their own label. In that brief span of time, the estate's official bottlings have become some of the most coveted and desired in the rum scene. Although we've endured a bit of a Hampden absence for a while, the brand is back in action at B-21 with its two most beloved releases, the 8 Year Old Single Estate and the HLCF Classic Pure Single Estate.

The 8 Year's widely recognized green label is a symbol of excellence to Jamaican rum fans everywhere, as the light ester OWH marque is a perfect introduction to Jamaican rum category, offering a classic profile that isn't overwhelmingly funky or industrial with esters at just 40-60 g/HLPA . Still, the 8 Year is "loaded with aromatic and flavor complexity" according to B-21 Spirits Buyer Andrew Kitz. The intensely fruity nose is accented with numerous secondary nuances, while the palate offers just enough for funk fans to smile about without turning away the novice taster who's taking their first foray into Jamaican rum. As Andrew notes, it's "one of the iconic Jamaican rums that made me a fully converted rum fanatic, [and] it’s every bit as compelling as it’s always been."

Taking things in a completely different direction, the HLCF Classic shows Hampden's higher-ester chops in all their glory. At 400-600 g/HLPA, it offers "the quintessential counterpart to the 8 Year’s relatively lighter, gentler personality." As the Beverage Testing Institute declares in their 97-point review, "this is not for the faint of heart or amateur imbiber, but hot damn is this delicious and complex; would happily sit with a bottle all day." A big industrial funk character is the foundation of the profile, offering "stunning complexity" on the nose and a deeply resonant, multi-dimensional palate. As Andrew notes, "those who appreciate the style will absolutely go head over heels for it."

Jamaican rum is a category unto itself, and Hampden occupies a very special place in that sphere, so when we say these are must-have expressions for any fan of the category, we surely mean it.

93AK

One of the iconic Jamaican rums that made me a fully converted rum fanatic, Hampden’s flagship 8 Year Old remains a reference-point in the category. The lighter ester mark doesn’t bring as much of the customary industrial funk, but the 8 Year is loaded with aromatic and flavor complexity. The nose is full to the brim with deep fruits – cooked apricot, peach, orange marmalade, and poached pear. Further complexity emerges as orange cookies, light sawdust, cinnamon, and light caramel. With time, the huge fruit profile grows much more tropical in character. The medium-weight palate offers much more funk than the nose, though still relatively light considering the marque. Candied orange and ginger take center stage, with faint hints of tropical stone fruit in the background. An assertive herbal/medicinal streak hits the mid-palate as bright basil before moving to a medium-long finish inflected with toffee, treacle, and root beer. It’s as every bit as compelling as it’s always been.

Clear copper color. Dusty, savory, baked aromas of high ester Jamaican funking and delicious, over ripe pineapple with orange zest, flambéed bananas foster, and cedar with a lightly tannic, fruity medium-full body and a very long over ripe banana dipped in caramel and rolled in cinnamon nutmeg and ginger, walnut oil, and black pepper, pickled ginger, maple, black tea, and and cinnamon finish. The proof and the dundery high ester funk assure that this is not for the faint of heart or amateur imbiber, but hot damn is this delicious and complex; would happily sit with a bottle all day and reflect on what cigar pairings or cocktails would be best and then discover that the whole bottle accidentally disappeared.

97 points, Beverage Testing Institute (Apr 2024)

The HLCF is the quintessential counterpart to the 8 Year’s relatively lighter, gentler personality. The nose leads with huge industrial notes of new rubber and diesel engine before giving away anything else. Time and air bring out stewed apples, dark caramel, fermented pineapple, and jerk spices. As the funk fades into the background, softer tones green banana, spiced Christmas cake, and candied orange peel add to the stunning complexity. The palate is every bit as bold and assertive, with a fair amount of heat at first. The medium weight sits on a firm, grippy texture with more huge industrial funk leading the way. A deep mix of cooked tropical and tree fruits, jerked chicken, and sarsaparilla emerge with a few drops of water, as the texture evens out considerably. The medium-long finish turns a touch medicinal as the fruits are accented by licorice root and asphalt, a final indication of the high-ester marque. This isn’t for everyone, but those who appreciate the style will absolutely go head over heels for it.

"Simply put, Christian Moueix's Napa Valley project Ulysses is a wine every collector of Napa Cabernet should have in their cellar." - Jonathan Cristaldi, Decanter

While the lion's share of attention goes to Dominus, Christian Moueix's Ulysses project has become an under-the-radar cult all-star in collectible Napa Cabernet. Rather than being merely a "substitute" Dominus, the Ulysses is very much its own thing. Moueix purchased this prized Oakville property in 2008 and the replanted vines are hitting the next phase of their maturity arc and showing the true personality of the property, resulting in wines of increasingly pure, concentrated expression. The 2021 Napa vintage is full of treasured blue chips, and the 99-point 2021 Ulysses is right there with the best of them. "Energetic and flexing but in a friendly way" as described by James Suckling, this is pure Oakville Cabernet is the very best of ways. Dominus winemaker Tod Mostero is at the helm at Ulysses too, so you can be sure the pedigree is top shelf all the way. Where Dominus is dark and backwards in its youth, Ulysses offers an extroverted personality that can appeal to a broad spectrum of Napa enthusiasts. Years from now, we will likely look back on the 2021 vintage as the year where Ulysses fully came into its own and entered the pantheon of Napa's truly elite blue chips.

99D 98JS

Simply put, Christian Moueix's Napa Valley project Ulysses is a wine every collector of Napa Cabernet should have in their cellar. The 2021 release of the Oakville red is a knockout that is never too bombastic, entirely reserved even in its generosity, and one that will last a very long time. A dry winter and spring led to the second consecutive year of a drought that began in January 2020. Temperatures were warm and consistent and slightly above average. The vines produced smaller clusters of small berries with high phenolic compounds and tannin levels. 1,400 cases produced. Opaque purple-ruby to the rim. A wine showing all the best qualities you'd expect from a prime Oakville site. This is a beautifully balanced red, imbued with a tremendously fresh streak of acidity. The nose leads with prime, ripe, dark black fruits, cassis, violets, creme de menthe, and crushed slate.—medium to full-bodied with impressively fashioned tannins that are robust and build through the extravagantly long finish. Marked by ripe black cherry and spiced plum notes, the length is extended by zesty blood orange acidity. Fragrant with sage and thyme, nuanced by brighter cherry blossom freshness and mineral tension. Impressive depth and density with a core of pure, ripe, and juicy fruit. Exceptional. This was the last wine in a complete vertical tI tasted with Moueix and winemaker Tod Mostero in a tasting room tucked within the barn on the Ulysses Vineyard site. 'I'm thrilled,' commented Moueix, 'There's a real dignity to the wines.' Moueix said that until this tasting, he hadn't quite noticed the style signature but found it emerging, though cautioned, 'Even with our experience next door at Dominus, we are still figuring it out.' For Mostero, 'Making these has been a discovery of place. With our mature vines, we're just beginning to get a sense of the true resonance of the place. The 2021 typifies what we can expect. This arrow-like structure that is piercing, resonant, and strong.'

99 points, Jonathan Cristaldi, Decanter (May 2024)

The reserved plushness comes out clearly with brightness, focus and very creamy tannins that give it muscle and tension. Juicy and flavorful but not overdone. Energetic and flexing but in a friendly way. Plums, milk chocolate, terra cotta and nutmeg. Almost all cabernet sauvignon with a touch of cabernet franc and petit verdot. Give it four or five years to soften. Try after 2028.

Hardcore barbecue fans know. Long story short, this single-cask offering is one of Master Distiller Justin Manglitz’ hair-brained schemes. Their regular Georgia Heartwood bottling sees barrels crafted with staves from north Georgia white oak that Justin and his friends harvest themselves. In an added twist for this bottling, he chars and toasts various staves in a Big Green Egg ceramic smoker, and then subjects their high-wheat mash, 7-year-old juice to a few months finishing with the various staves. Gimmicky? Maybe, but the results in the bottle bear it out, big time. The nose is extremely opulent with black cherry, big toasty barrel tones, caramel, vanilla, cinnamon toast, raisin bread, cedar dust, mocha, and apple fritter. The broad, tannic, structurally firm palate has well-defined flavors of candied apple, cinnamon toast crunch cereal, black cherry, tons of exotic spices, cornbread, and maple syrup, closing with a long, bracing finish of burnt brown sugar and clove. Whatever you think of the method, this is a clear step up from the regular Georgia Heartwood bottling, so something is working out in incredible fashion here.

2021 Chateau Pontet-Canet (750ml)
Cabernet Sauvignon from Pauillac, Bordeaux, France
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

Alfred Tesseron and his team, led by estate manager Jean-Michel Comme, have completely transformed both the vineyards and identity of Château Pontet-Canet by embracing organic and biodynamic practices. Recognizing the extraordinary terroir of Pontet Canet – the heart lies in a plateau outcropping of Garonne Gunz gravel which overlays limestone bedrock, these poor soils allow drainage that's optimal for Cabernet. The center of this plateau is planted to Cabernet Franc which is surrounded by Cabernet Sauvignon. Merlot is planted on the gravelly clay soils that meet the perimeter of the gravel plateau. Tesseron's campaign for biodynamic agriculture began in 2004 and tasting results confirmed this to be the estate's future; the Medoc's first Classified Growth dedicated to biodynamics. Pontet Canet received its organic certification in 2010 and Demeter in 2014 – the world's largest certification organization for biodynamic agriculture used in 50 countries. Three Breton draft horses were added to the estate's stable replacing tractors in 2008, now at total of seven horses tend the vineyards. With great terroir and extraordinary dedication to excellence, Tesseron has elevated Pontet Canet beyond its historic performance; now among the top estates in Bordeaux.

Pure berry fruit and cedar aromas, the wine has great purity. It is a straight line of freshness as well as black-currant fruits and ripe acidity. The wine is beautifully textured and firm at its core. Drink from 2028. Organic and biodynamic.

97 points, Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast (Jul 2024)

This is a very pretty 2021 with a solid, beautiful mid-palate and density. Juicy fruit, slightly chewy tannins and a savory finish. Hints of graphite. Drink or hold.

95 points, James Suckling (Apr 2024)

Bright berry red in colour, nuanced blackberry and loganberry with bitter black chocolate notes from the first attack. Lovely precision, good level of spice, earthy, unfussy, rose stem and blackcurrant bud. This was the third vintage with mildew pessure, but the team are now experienced, and I can attest to seeing the vines during harvest and remarking on how healthy they looked, with no-till farming helping concentration. Plenty of tannins give structure and are shot through with sinew and juice, this is an impressive wine from technical director Mathieu Bessonet, with Pauillac typicity. Harvest 24 september until 12 October. 50% new oak, 35% amphora, 15% one year barrels, 15% press (aged in the amphora).

95 points, Jane Anson (May 2022)

Gorgeous fragrance on the nose, so perfumed and floral - really vibrant - you can smell the Cabernet and the Petit Verdot on the nose. Juiciness straight away from a burst of high acidity focussed on blackcurrant and black cherry with both a fragrance, spice and minerality following. This really hits you square on - it's not opulent but it’s so fully flavoured, forward and upfront. Tannins are fine-grained but plentiful, they hold the structure and give the frame while the creaminess and freshness gives an expansive aspect to the palate. There's refinement and an aerial quality here despite the clear Pauillac power. The Cabernet fruit is in full shine mode, giving a eucalyptus, perfumed berry and black pepper touch. Structured and supple with grape and terroir characteristics. If you love Pontet, and classic Pauillac claret, this is an impressive reference point. Skilled winemaking from technical director Mathieu Bessonet. 4% Cabernet Franc completes the blend.

"Lukas Pichler delivered one of the best collections of the year—extract, tautness, freshness and fill all shine in 2024." - Anne Krebiehl, Vinous

For fans of Austria's finest expressions, F.X. Pichler occupies elite status among a handful estates that set the bar in the Wachau and beyond. Winemaker Lucas Pichler is a renowned perfectionist with such confidence in his own skills and style that he recently decided to withdraw from the Vinea Wachau, the region's official wine classification organization that sets the criteria for the familiar Steinfeder, Federspiel, and Smaragd designations, instead opting to allow his wines to distinguish themselves on pure terroir character rather than empirical measures like residual sugar, ripeness, and alcohol levels.

This range of magnificent 2024 Rieslings and Grüner Veltliners, including another showstopping double 100-point Riesling Kellerberg, continue to vindicate Pichler's approach, offering crystalline purity and site specificity that capture the attention of fine wine collectors the world over. With outstanding press across the board from James Suckling, Vinous, and Peter Moser of Austria's renowned Falstaff Magazine, these are surefire winners that will shine in your cellar for many years along side the world's great collectible white wines.

This medium- to full-bodied, structured white has firm layers and almost savory aromas of ripe stone fruit, pomelo rind, tea leaves, tobacco, red apples and almond skin. Lots of bite and tannic tension that carries through to a long finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

The extremely intense oolong tea, nectarine and mango skin aromas pull you into this compact and juicy, medium-bodied wine. Quite some power, but the zesty acidity makes it feel a bit lighter than it really is. Some creaminess and a slew of black tea character in the very long, structured finish. "...the [2024s] have beautiful concentration and real tension. Well done." - Anne Krebiehl, Vinous

Arguably one of the top three estate in the Wachau, Rudi Pichler is a unanimous reference-point for the region, and there are few, if any, estates that have the same wherewithal to spin absolute gold out of a difficult vintage. Old vines, steep slopes, and Rudi's uncompromising, meticulous skills turned out a range of stunning expressions that are easily among the best in the category.

From the beautifully balanced, 94-point Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Terrassen to the towering excellence of the 98-point Riesling and Grüner Smaragds from the Achleiten site, the entire range is comprised of must-have benchmarks for serious Austrian fans. Savvy buyers will not overlook the "exquisite purity and expression" of the double 96-point Riesling Smaragd Kirchweg or the equally "stunning" Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Kollmutz.

These are just a few of the highlights in an entire line-up that sets the bar for the vintage, and to top it all off, don't miss the very last stocks of the equally prodigious 2023s, still available at remarkable pricing.

Such an expressive and elegant gruner veltliner. Yes, it has those classic peppery aromas on the medium-bodied palate, but there’s also an entire floral dimension that makes it stand out so prominently. Then comes the extremely long, silky and refined finish that’s incredibly sensuous. Sustainable. Drink or hold.

98 points, Stuart Pigott, James Suckling (Sep 2024)

The 2023 Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Achleiten Smaragd is from over 80-year-old vines, rooting Gföhler gneiss. An initial flicker of citrus sets an immediate tone of freshness. The palate takes this freshness and adds a beautifully green savor of chervil crushed in cream alongside lime zest and white peppercorns. This is a deeply savory, slender, bright wine with drive and so much energy. Wow. (Bone-dry)

The 2023 Riesling Achleiten Smaragd is still reduced on the nose; underneath is a flicker of citrus, perhaps even of conifer. The palate dances in on light feet, leaving its traces on the stone like a figure skater on ice. The palate is full of zest, somehow alive in its incredible youthfulness, energy and stony power. It is a lovely and gracious monument. Wow. (Bone-dry)

This dry riesling from the legendary Achleithen site doesn’t wear its greatness on its sleeve, so you need patience if you want to drink it young. Switch off your phone and don’t look at your watch. When you drink this, time will stand still. The very cool nose with a striking aroma of tarragon, hardly a classic riesling scent, is followed by incredibly concentrated peach and herb flavors on the supersilky, medium-bodied palate. Low acidity for this grape, but that simply means a unique creaminess in the long, elegant finish. Sustainable. Vegan. Drinkable now but best from 2027.

98 points, Stuart Pigott, James Suckling (Sep 2025)

Pale golden yellow, silver reflections. Delicate notes of peach, a hint of saffron, finely spiced tropical fruit, dark minerality, fresh nuances of orange zest. Juicy, elegant, white stone fruit, tightly meshed, fine acidity underpinning, lingers for a long time, a perfectly balanced food companion, great length and secure development, certain ageing potential.

98 points, Peter Moser, Falstaff (Jun 2025)

The 2024 Riesling Achleiten Smaragd, from the western slope, is tender on the nose, allowing just a touch of tangerine peel to escape. The palate is taut and elongated, concentrated. Crystalline and yet edged with tangerine oil, it plunges deeper and seems to set itself into the palate with its freshness. There is an extra dimension here that goes deeper.

2022 Xanadu Chardonnay Reserve (750ml)
Cabernet Sauvignon from Margaret River, Western Australia, Australia
B-21 Top Recommendation

As prices in Napa Valley continue to skyrocket, savvy collectors are turning to some far-flung reaches to get their hands on cult-caliber Cabernets and Chardonnays for prices that don't break the bank, and Australia's Margaret River is at the top of the pyramid in that regard. You may be familiar with iconic Leeuwin's Art Series, but Xanadu has been quietly keeping pace for years with their equally stunning line-up, headlined by the critically acclaimed Reserve bottlings.

At 97+ points, the 2022 Chardonnay Reserve is "a wine of profound complexity and length, yet it is steely, restrained and mineral in the extreme," writes Erin Larkin of Wine Advocate. The heavily maritime climate of the Wallcliffe sub-region that Xanadu calls home gives extra vibrancy and verve to an already racy style of Chardonnay that Margaret River is well-known for, as is confirmed by several glowing critical reviews in addition to Larkin's. A pair of 96-point reviews from Suckling and Halliday Wine Companion and 94 points from Vinous add icing to the cake. Likewise, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve notched 96 points from Wine Advocate's Erin Brooks, who writes, "Routinely a beautiful wine, it's no different in this vintage, and it will reward careful cellaring for decades to come." In other words, don't sleep for a second on this pair for a bona fide, world-class collectibles that can be had for a fraction of the price of similar bottlings from Napa or Burgundy.

At the opposite end of the price spectrum, the flagship wines present some of the greatest QPR expressions to be found anywhere in Australia, with massive scores across the board and under $30 each. The 95-point 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon is a "classic, polished Margaret River Cab" that demonstrates a "youthful, vibrant nature" today but will certainly cruise for a few years in the cellar. Also pulling in 95 points, the 2023 Chardonnay is "very focused and mineral-driven," demonstrating the excellent, cool-vintage potential of Margaret River Chard in this vintage. The electric, vibrant style of Xanadu means this is one for the cellar, and probably for much longer than you'd think, according to Wine Enthusiast's Christina Pickard.

It's not every day that you can find a pair of benchmark collectible and a pair of stellar QPR value stars in the same offer, let alone from the same producer, but today offers a chance for wine lovers of all stripes and budgets to load up on some overperforming all-stars at market-best pricing across the board.

97WA 96AWC 96JS 96D

The 2022 Reserve Chardonnay is richer and more voluminous than the racy Steven's Road, and the wine exhibits a capacious mid-palate that tends to expand and widen as it progresses through to the long finish. This is a wine of profound complexity and length, yet it is steely, restrained and mineral in the extreme. Salivating acidity clinches the deal. 13% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

97+ points, Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate (Jul 2024)

The reserve shines this vintage, coming across all superfine and linear, yet layers upon layers of flavour. Ginger florals, lemon balm and all manner of citrus charm. Ultra-refreshing with a live wire of acidity gathering all the elements and taking them on a joy ride. There’s a millefeuille effect of lees, fruit, oak and spice so this turns out moreish, savoury and complex. But above all, just a great drink.

96 points, Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion (Aug 2024)

Wonderfully complex and mineral-driven aromas of lime curd, lemon confit, sea spray and nougat. The palate is tightly bound with energetic acidity and powerful underlying notes of gunsmoke, grapefruit pith, orange blossoms and jasmine. Polished with incredibly high tension. Pure class. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

96 points, James Suckling (Oct 2024)

An exotic spring bouquet: jasmine, honeysuckle, cedar, sea spray and a crushed limestone minerality. Spicy, with a restrained flint character. Crystalline Meyer lemon fruit and a slight oak char. Mouthfilling yet not voluptuous. Taut, long and striking, with power and volume from the fruit core. A beauty. 100% Gingin clone from Xanadu’s oldest Chardonnay vineyard.

A Best in Show winner at Decanter World Wine Awards 2025. From a great vintage, this is a considered blend of old Cabernet vineyards in Treeton, Wilyabrup and Wallcliffe, with 5% each of Malbec and Petit Verdot; spending 14 months in French oak. The palate is deep and detailed, with a fine texture and beautiful purity of black fruit, layered with hints of dark chocolate, pencil shavings and savoury nuances, plus a refined seam of granite minerality. So harmonious and elegant – proof, if it were needed, that Margaret River's Cabs are simply world-class.

97 points, Julie Sheppard, Decanter (Nov 2025)

The 2022 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from a variety of vineyards in Margaret River, and so it provides the antithesis of the single-vineyard Steven's Road Cabernet tasted alongside. Here, the Reserve leads with eucalypt and pink peppercorns (with that citrus, blood orange tint to it), tobacco, cedar and pencil shavings, and the oak is currently a feature. The wine has 5% each of Malbec and Petit Verdot, and these provide further structure, florals (wet roses and violets) and spice. Routinely a beautiful wine, it's no different in this vintage, and it will reward careful cellaring for decades to come. Matured in French oak for 14 months, 40% new.

96 points, Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate (Sep 2025)

The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is powerful, confident and composed, rippling with cassis, olive, chocolate and blackberry aromas. The palate is tense, mouthfilling and beautifully balanced, with firm acidity and chewy tannins driving a strong finish of fabulous length.

95 points, Angus Hughson, Vinous (Jan 2026)

Lifted and perfumed notes of wild blackberries, mulberries, licorice, coffee beans and cedar. NV Agrapart Terroirs Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut Grand Cru Disgorgement July 2025 (750ml)

95JS 94V

Very intense minerality dominates in this blend, with pure aromas of chalk, subtle flowers, lemons and pastry. Medium-bodied, it shows zesty acidity and a lean yet silky palate that’s elegant and delicate. Based on the 2020 and 2021 harvest. Disgorged in April 2025. Drink now.

95 points, James Suckling (Oct 2025)

The NV Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Terroirs Grand Cru is unusual in that it is a blend of three vintages (2021, 2020 and 2019) instead of the more typical two, because of very low yields in 2021. There's real density and power here, but not at the expense of Cotes des Blancs citrus, floral and mineral character. As always, the Terroirs is a blend of parcels in Avize, Oger, Cramant and Oiry, all Grand Crus. The blend is 20% 2021 and 80% split between 2020 and 2019. Dosage is 3 grams per liter. Disgorged: March 2025; multiple disgorgements throughout the year.

Talk about an unbelievable coup de grâce for our direct-import portfolio! We are thrilled to announce our new domaine-direct relationship with Ambonnay's most dynamic and forward-thinking visionary, Benoît Marguet. You will seldom meet a vigneron more passionate about his craft and more confident in his methods than Benoît, and while his stellar Champagnes might give him ample reason for arrogance, he's anything but. After our domaine visit last October, we went all in on this singular grower.

Combine his almost obsessively meticulous viticulture with some of the finest vine holdings in Bouzy and Ambonnay and you get a range of wines that are simply gorgeous through and through, starting with his flagship 94-point Shaman. Based on the outstanding 2022 vintage, this grand cru blend is "a wonderful combination of fruit, roundness, and freshness" while also maintaining "intensity, power, and a salty structure."

The village grand Cru Ambonnay is itself a 95-point gem of the highest caliber, a "fragrant and very pretty" blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that shows the multi-dimensional potential of both Marguet's vine holdings and his winemaking, but the true brilliance of the range lies in his single-vineyard showstoppers. Made and allocated in highly limited quantities, these are some of the most tranparent, terroir-expressive Champagnes on the market. The 96-point Les Bermonts comes from half-hectare of Chardonnay planted in 1952 on clay and limestone and is "a wine of marvelous harmony that knits everything together into a seamless fabric of the vineyard itself." Likewise, the double 95-point Les Crayeres displays "vivid, chalky aromatics of stunning purity" and a palate of "marvelous fruit intensity" where "the structure and textural vibrancy are just breathtaking."

Finally, the 96-point 2017 Sapience represents Marguet's appreciation for communal, like-minded growers who exhibit the same passion for their work. It's a blend of all three Champagne varietals, cultivated by growers with equally serious methods and repuations – Meunier from Vincent Laval in Cumières, Chardonnay from David Leclapart in Hautvilliers, and Pinot Noir from Marguet's own Ambonnay plots. A "wonderful, profound, lasting" wine of singular character, it's an expression in a category of its own.

This was indisputably the finest line-up top to bottom on our last trip to Champagne, and getting direct access to this cellar is one of the top three highlights of 2025 for our direct-import program, so any avid collector or fan of the most compelling grower Champagnes should dive deep into this selection without hesitation.

Bright straw-colored, the 2020 Champagne Grand Cru Ambonnay Brut Nature is 58% Pinot and the rest Chardonnay. It’s ripe with notes of white peach, reflecting the breadth of the village, with a rich, chalky texture that remains subtle. Medium to full-bodied, it offers ample richness and structure, though I wouldn't be surprised if the Pinot Noir shines even more. Drink over the next 15-20 years. I like the purity and clarity of this one. It undergoes nine months of lees contact in the barrel and spends three years in the caves.

95 points, Audrey Frick, Jeb Dunnuck (Dec 2025)

This is fragrant and very pretty, showing raspberries, sliced apples, ginger, grapefruit and biscuits on the nose. Zesty and dry on the palate, with tight bubbles and a long, refreshing and elegant finish. 58% pinot noir and 42% chardonnay. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Disgorged February 2025. Drink or hold.

Gewurztraminer from Alsace, France
B-21 Top Recommendation

"Zind-Humbrecht is one of the most famous domaines in Alsace – deservedly so ... No matter what variety, the expressions are layered and pure." - Anne Krebiehl MW, Vinous

Just landed in stock, we have a thrilling range of 2023s from one of France's benchmark domaines. Zind-Humbrecht is unquestionably one of the three most iconic domaines in Alsace, routinely racking up huge press and glowing accolades up and down their comprehensive line-up.

As expected, the 2023s show out in fine form, the warm vintage balanced by Pierre-Emile Humbrecht's highly finessed winemaking. The domaine's exquisite terroirs all acquit themselves with extraordinary class and precision, starting wth the Roche series, which are simply declassified younger vines in the domaine's priceless Grand Cru holdings. The 95-point Roche Calcaire Riesling is "taut, lemony, long, streamlined and tightly coiled—a wellspring of freshness," per Anne Krebiehl, while the "very dynamic and driving" 95-point Roche Volcanique Pinot Gris shows the noble varietal's exceptional class.

Of course, for anyone seeking the apex of Alsace, the grands crus from Clos St-Urbain plot in the Rangen de Thann are the only way to go. The 2023 Riesling Clos St-Urbain flirts with perfection with 99 points from Stuart Pigott and 98 points from Krebiehl, A wine of "gigantic concentration, elegance and finesse," it showcases what Alsace Riesling is all about. The "incredible" 2023 Pinot Gris Clos St-Urbain actually hits perfection, with 100 points from Pigott, who declares, "The brain-rattling concentration, smokiness and flinty energy of this unique dry pinot gris don’t fit in any box on this planet." Both of these selections are naturally among the world's finest, most long-lived collectible whites anywhere.

These are just a few highlights from a truly stellar range of timeless classics that astute collectors will be thrilled to own in the years to come.

Super fresh for the gewurz grape but with a hint of sweetness, this is charming. The underlying richness on the medium-bodied palate gives it a wonderful texture. Very long, elegant finish. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

ASW Fiddler Encore #2 Cigar Batch Bourbon Whiskey (750ml)

I’ve been watching this Atlanta-based distillery’s offerings for some time now, and while they’ve been good, nothing really gave me an epiphany, until this second Encore release came along. Made from ASW’s signature, high-wheat mash bill, the Encore #2 is mostly 7-year-old stock, finished in a variety of casks, including maple syrup, port, and sherry, resulting in a one-of-a-kind bourbon profile. The nose is absolutely gorgeous with sweet spices – tamarind, sandalwood, nutmeg, and incense – on top of apple pie filling, red cherry, sweet dark tobacco, pie crust, root beer, sarsaparilla, and maple/brown sugar oatmeal. The powerful but balanced palate showcases a luxurious texture and mouthfeel centered on incredibly complex, big, exotic spices. It doesn’t need water per se, but a drop or two doesn’t hurt, and with time it reveals stewed apple compote, bear claw pastry, cherry licorice, vanilla, fresh sawdust, maple & raisin granola, and smoked paprika, leading to a long, expansive finish of cola and medicinal orange. It’s an under-the-radar distillery for sure, but if this release in any indication at the direction they’re headed, cult bourbon fans are going to start taking serious notice of them.

2023 Chateau Beaucastel Rouge (750ml)
Grenache from Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Rhône, France
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

"... yet another outstanding red Beaucastel with the potential to match or even outperform the delicious 2022." - Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous

One of the most anticipated Rhône releases in any vintage is Beaucastel's reference-point Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and the 97-point 2023 delivers everything we expect from this iconic estate. The warm, dry growing season provided optimal conditions for all the estate's varietals to excel and the finished wine is classic Beaucastel in all respects. Jeb Dunnuck notes, "It has the purity, medium to full-bodied richness, and ripe, yet still fresh and lively style of the vintage and brings plenty of mid-palate depth, sweet tannins, and a great finish." The year saw a higher-than-usual Mourvedre content in the blend, so you can count on this rendition to cruise in the cellar, but the freshness and vibrancy of the Grenache components (with help of the highly aromatic Terret Nori, Vaccarese, and Muscardin) make it a true charmer right out of the gate. James Suckling's Rhône critic Stuart Pigott declares it "full-bodied but with a lightness of touch. Then the power and stony intensity pour over you in a giant wave. The freshness is extraordinary for this hot and dry vintage." In other words, one of France's leading wine estates hit another home run, and collectors can add this superb rendition to their cellars for a razor-sharp price.

While you wait for the Châteauneuf to come around, you can also stock up on the 2023 Coudoulet de Beaucastel. Reflecting its well-earned reputation as "the Baby Beaucastel," the 2023 Coudoulet de Beaucastel is a solidly built, age-worthy Côtes-du-Rhône that takes the category a step up in terms of quality, character, and pedigree – the Coudoulet vines lie just on the "wrong side" of the road from Beaucastel's official Châteauneuf parcels, so the moniker isn't just a trope. Soils, micro-climates, and vine heritage are all similar, so the Coudoulet wine always offers glimpses of its world-class terroir. This JS93 "solid, focused, juicy and poised wine" is picture-perfect introduction to the vintage at Beaucastel.

Finally, as icing on the cake, serious collectors shouldn't miss a chance to add a monumental vintage of the legendary Hommage à Jacques Perrin to their cellars at unbeatable pricing. The 2022 Hommage is a triple 98-point masterpiece and collectible cornerstone that sets the bar for the appellation and the vintage. "Combining mind-boggling intensity with impressive verticality, the full-bodied 2022 is one of the wines of the vintage," notes Nicolas Greinacher of Vinous. Yohan Castaing's own 98-point Wine Advocate review likewise calls it "a spectacular and immense wine ... [and] a must-have for collectors and enthusiasts." With the amply seductive style of the vintage, it's also likely to give off serious fireworks right now if you're the impatient type. Either way, this is a no-brainer opportunity for anyone who's serious about the world's greatest collectible wines.

At every stage of the hierarchy and every price tier, Beaucastel proves its mettle time and time again, and these latest releases are unequivocal gems for any fan of Southern Rhône's best wines.

Dense licorice and forest berry aromas mask the deep tannin structure of this Chateauneuf-du-Pape masterpiece. Full-bodied but with a lightness of touch. Then the power and stony intensity pour over you in a giant wave. The freshness is extraordinary for this hot and dry vintage. Serious tannins in the very long, compact and refined finish. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but best from 2027.

97 points, Stuart Pigott, James Suckling (Apr 2025)

The estate lost some Grenache due to shatter, so the 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape is based on 40% Mourvèdre, 30% Grenache, 10% Counoise, 10% Syrah, and the rest a mix of permitted varieties. It was all destemmed except for the Syrah and brought up in foudre. The higher Mourvèdre component gives it a more serious, focused style than most in the vintage, and it has darker blackberry fruits intermixed with roasted herbs, spring flowers, violets, and some meaty nuances on the nose. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a deep, pure, layered mouthfeel, it has ripe, velvety, yet building tannins and a great finish. Another beautiful vintage for this cuvée, it has the approachable style of the vintage yet brings more than enough density and concentration to evolve for 30 years. Drink 2025-2054.

96 points, Jeb Dunnuck (Nov 2025)

A tasting of the constituent parts this year, so this is a provisional score. The Terret Noir, Muscardin and Vaccarèse were fermented together; they provide the more fragrant top notes, bright and attractive if not deep. The Cinsault was perfumed and fresh, with fine tannins. The Counoise was more savoury, with more depth and tannin; tense and saline, and spicy thanks to 50% whole-bunch fermentation. The Grenache was soft and supple, fairly dark in colour, quite structured, with impressive freshness, tannins and acidity. The Syrah was deep, intense, black-fruited and peppery – quite potent in alcohol, with intense tannins. The Mourvèdre will be 30% of the blend, contributing mouthcoating, deep and succulent tannins, plenty of flesh and quite high alcohol. The overall impression is a deliciously rich and ripe Beaucastel, not as structured as the 2022, that is likely to score around 95-96 once blended and bottled.
