B‑21Fine Wines & Liquors is fantastic. They had in stock a Chianti Classico Riserva I had been looking for, at a very good price. I ordered 6 bottles, and was impressed the shipping was only $12.00. Since an adult signature is required upon delivery, and unsure if anyone would be home, I had the package delivered to my local Walgreens store...worked flawlessly. 2021 Bodegas Beronia Crianza (750ml)
Tempranillo from Rioja, Spain
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

Renowned for producing "classical, reliable wines" according to Wine Advocate's Luis Gutierrez, Beronia is a household name in overachieving Rioja value. Vintage after vintage, the estate delivers some of the best bang for the buck in all of Spain, attracting legions of fans who have made these wines into best-selling benchmarks over the years.

The JS91 Crianza is once again one of the Rioja's sharpest case-buy contenders. "Quite juicy and well made," it's a quintessential young Rioja for fans of wines both easy on the palate and on the wallet. The 93-point 2020 Beronia Reserva is another well-crafted edition of this fan-favorite to add to its consistent track record of reliability. The profile is everything long-time fans know and love, immediately accessible, charming, "harmonious," as Wine Spectator describes it. Made from Beronia's oldest vines, the 2016 Beronia Gran Reserva also brings home the goods and then some. Aged over 28 months in French oak followed by three years in bottle prior to release to develop its trademark complexity and depth, the 2016 is a "lively red, with well-meshed, sculpted tannins" according to Wine Spectator.

It's a perfect trio to stock up on to deliver outstanding QPR and classic Rioja style, time and time again over the next several years.

Sonoma's standard-bearer Ferrari-Carano needs little introduction. These quintessential California classics have been all-time best sellers at B-21 for years, and it's always nice to see a standard bearer continue to hit the mark. These latest releases showcase winemaking duo Rebecka Deike and Natalie West at their best, all notching solid press from James Suckling and offering outstanding value and consistent excellence.

The "rich, satisfying" 2024 Chardonnay is a top-shelf value performer at 92 points & under $15, a perfect option for your next go-to house white. A step (or two) up is the 95-point 2022 Chardonnay Reserve, a full-bodied wine with lovely texture and tension, outpacing it's sub-$30 price. For the reds, the 2023 Siena hits on all cylinders for fans of this QPR best seller, while the 92-point 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon is "very generous and giving for the price" with "concentrated aromas" and a "rich and broad" palate. If you're looking for surefire quality at an easy price, you almost have too many good options with these Sonoma classics.

2023 Grounded by Josh Phelps Cabernet Sauvignon (750ml)
Cabernet Sauvignon from California
B-21 Top Recommendation

"Having become a rock-steady value over recent vintages, this bottling gets an extra boost thanks to the strength of the 2023 vintage." - Wine Spectator

Josh Phelps (no relation to Joseph) has cultivated a reputation for himself as arguably the best source of ultra-value Cabernet Sauvignon in California, so it was no surprise to his 2023 Grounded Cab land on Wine Spectator's list of the Top 10 Value Wines of 2025. Josh sources his fruit from excellent growers throughout the state, yet somehow keeps the price in everyday, case-buy territory, a feat that's less common every year in this category. The result is "a wine of pure pleasure" according to Decanter's 93-point review, showing"textbook, succulent Cabernet flavors with an immediately accessible profile." We're betting you didn't think your next go-to house red would be a California Cabernet at just $15, but here it is. Now all you have to do is make room for a couple cases.

93D 91JS 90WS

A wine of pure pleasure from winemaker Josh Phelps. A mixed berry fruit and cherry compote rises from the glass, accompanied by hints of candied violets and warm brown baking spices. Medium-bodied, the palate mirrors the aromatics, framed by crisp tannins with velvety edges. The finish lingers with cool graphite minerality, a touch of graham cracker and vanilla, and subtle nuances of crushed cocoa nibs. As I said, pure pleasure.

93 points, Jonathan Cristaldi, Decanter (May 2025)

Approachable and ripe with aromas of blackberries, plums, vanilla and baking spices. The palate is full-bodied with soft tannins and an easy, fruit-forward finish. Drink now.

91 points, James Suckling (Jul 2025)

Josh Phelps represents a new generation now helping to drive California wine. While the Napa Valley Cabernet game has jumped the shark for some folks, with $200 and up the typical price point, Phelps, a Napa Valley native, is going the other direction with his value-oriented operation. Phelps learned his craft from one of the best: His father, Chris, had winemaking stints at both Dominus and Inglenook before turning his focus to his own Ad Vivum label. (The family has no relation to the Joseph Phelps winery.) Phelps sources fruit from sustainably farmed vineyards throughout the state, including in Napa and Sonoma, along with Lake County, Paso Robles and elsewhere. Having become a rock-steady value over recent vintages, this bottling gets an extra boost thanks to the strength of the 2023 vintage, offering textbook, succulent Cabernet flavors with an immediately accessible profile. 35,000 cases made.

2022 First Drop Mother's Milk Shiraz (750ml)
Shiraz from Barossa, South Australia, Australia
B-21 Top Recommendation

"The fruit-forward and charming 2022 Shiraz Mother's Milk offers up a wild ride..."-Vinous

One of the pillars of the Australian wine scene are the remarkably well-made value stunners that can be found all over the country's myriad diverse wine regions. First Drop is one of those rare producers that hits homeruns at every point on the spectrum, from collectible caliber cult bottlings to overperforming gems that deliver big character for a small price, and the 2022 Mother's Milk Shiraz is exhibit A of the latter.

Entirely sourced from choice vineyards in Barossa, namely high-elevation plots in Seppeltsfield, Kalmina, and Eden Valley, the 2022 Mother's Milk boasts excellent pedigree, which goes a long way to explaining how such a sharply priced wine can offer so much top-flight polish and character. It's classic Barossa with its core of dark, luxurious fruits and savory/spicy undertones, all built on a "seamless" foundation of plush Shiraz tannins characteristic of the best Barossa expressions.

Considering all that, it's no wonder that the 2022 Mother's Milk collected a pair of 92-point scores from James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion and Wine Spectator, which also listed it among their Smart Buys/Best Values of the year. Priced for stacking by the case, it's an easy go-to for nearly any occasion.

92WS 90V

Offers a juicy, exuberant mix of blueberry preserves, fresh black cherry and cherry cola that's smooth and seamless. This complex red seamlessly integrates details of masala chai, bittersweet chocolate, violet, fresh earth, toasted cumin and white pepper on the firming finish. 92 points, MaryAnn Worobiec, Wine Spectator (Jun 2025)

The fruit-forward and charming 2022 Shiraz Mother's Milk offers up a wild ride of dark cherry and coffee bean aromas with a dark, earthy tinge. It's well-pitched, fresh and vibrant with a supple core of tannins that fits the overall package of red berry flavor well before a gentle finish.

95D 93WE

Beronia is based in Ollauri, Rioja Alta, and sources fruit from more than 900ha of vineyards, all within 10km of its winery on a range of soils including clay-limestone, ferrous clay and alluvial; vines are aged from 20 years to some on pre-phylloxera rootstock dating back more than 100 years. The 2020 Reserva is predominantly Tempranillo and was matured for 18 months in a mix of French and American oak barrels, followed by additional time in third-use French barrels, and then at least 18 months more in the bottle before release. Very pretty raspberry fruit defines this wine, which is very fresh with bright acidity and soft, ripe tannins. Oak is very well integrated and this is an elegant and fine reserva with a chalky lift.

95 points, Beth Willard, Decanter (Mar 2025)

Aromatics of cedar, bramble and dark berries and a waft of crushed vanilla bean make for a satisfying, and palate stimulating wine. Firm while fine grained tannins keep the wine approachable now with the potential to age.

2022 La Grand Comtadine Heritiers Cheron-Misset (750ml)
Grenache from Côtes du Rhône, Rhône, France
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

The 2022 La Grand Comtadine Heritiers Cheron-Misset Côtes-du-Rhône (a mouthful for sure) continues this wine's track record as an unbeatable value stunner for B-21. After tasting this recent vintage at Wine Paris, we ordered a sizeable parcel direct from winemaker Yves Cheron's cellar. Rarely available outside the region, it's a superb everyday value to stock up on and enjoy without hesitation from an appealing Southern Rhône vintage.

Drawn to the untapped potential of the Southern Rhône's smaller and lesser known appellations over fifty years ago, third-generation Burgundy grower Denis Cheron purchased a winemaking facility along with two hectares of vineyards in Vacqueyras called La Grand Comtadine in the 1960s, vinifying wines for local growers. Building relationships in the area over the next two decades, Denis was given the opportunity to purchase the Grand Montmirail in Gigondas when the heirless owner decided to retire, and along with his son Yves, they began producing wine under their own label in the 1980s. Expanding the family's holdings and establishing long-term contracts with local growers since joining his father in 1983, winemaker Yves Cheron sourced the elegantly structured, Grenache-based 2022 La Grand Comtadine Heritiers Cheron-Misset Côtes-du-Rhône from 30 hectares of sustainably farmed, low-yielding vines, aging it in concrete tanks to preserve the fresh fruit flavors and refreshing, energetic acidity with plenty of depth to savor over the next five or so years.

Beautifully balancing bold fruit flavors with vibrant acidity and polished tannins, the succulent and silky-textured 2022 La Grand Comtadine Heritiers Cheron-Misset is delicious alone and easily pairs with food, a solid value CdR that fans of easy-drinking Southern Rhône reds will find themselves reaching for again and again.

91AK

Yves Cheron’s workhorse Côtes-du-Rhône best-seller is every bit as good as previous vintages and maybe better. The 2022 displays the ripeness of the vintage perfectly, with concentrated red fruits that quickly verge toward the darker side of black cherry and elderberry. Hot stones add an earthy edge to nose, with new leather and Chinese five spice in the background. The medium-full palate is well balanced with ripe, pliant tannins and underlying acidity. Primary fruit flavors demonstrate depth and density, while the wine’s spicy edge gives great lift to the finish along with fresh herbs de Provençal and a faint hint of cigar wrap. This wine just delivers. That’s all there is to it.

2016 Bodegas Manzanos Voche Reserva (750ml)
From Rioja, Spain
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

Spanish wine fans searching for a steal of a deal on great Rioja need look no further than the outstanding, 93-point 2016 Bodegas Manzanos Voche Reserva. Offering deep, mouth-coating flavors of dark, earthy fruit and spiced vanilla with powerful, satiny tannins, it's structured to age while remaining an incredible value.

While Voche is a relatively new project from Bodegas Manzanos, the Manzanos family has been making wine along the Ebro River in Rioja for five generations, founding the oldest winery in Haro in 1801. Based mostly on old-vine fruit, the Voche Reserva is a blend of Tempranillo and the lesser-known Graciano, an inherently spicy, dark-skinned grape that enhances aromas and adds structure and freshness. Representing three distinct terroirs, the vineyards for the 2016 Voche Reserva include the oldest Graciano parcel in Rioja called El Barranco, its 70-year-old vines planted on sandy soil at around 400 meters of elevation. After fermenting in stainless steel, the powerful 2016 Voche Reserva aged for 24 months in 50% new and 50% second-use French oak, then 24 months longer in bottle, finishing "long and compact" according to Wine Spectator's Bruce Sanderson and built to evolve over the next decade.

From an exceptional vintage described by Decanter's Michael Schachner as "a benchmark year against which future stellar vintages will be measured," the muscular, opulent, 93-point 2016 Bodegas Manzanos Voche Reserva delivers layers of bold flavors with smoky, earthy undertones that will have Rioja fans reaching for it again and again over the next decade, which is easy to do at this unbeatable price.

93WS 93WE 92JS

Sweet oak, vanilla, cherry and bitter almond flavors converge in this muscular, balanced red. The oak still needs time to integrate, with ample fruit to offset it. The finish is long and compact. Tempranillo and Graciano. Best from 2024 through 2033. 700 cases made, 350 cases imported.

93 points, Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator (Feb 2022)

Violet-red to the eye, this wine has a bouquet of cassis, saddle leather and clove. It feels good in the mouth, offering flavors of blackberry, strawberry, chocolate-covered coffee bean and vanilla. Satin tannins dissolve into a soft rose-petal finish.

93 points, Mike Desimone, Wine Enthusiast (Jul 2022)

"One of the best Reserva expressions lately from Marques de Riscal? A joy to drink..."

-Zekun Shuai, JamesSuckling.com

B-21 favorite and Rioja icon Marques de Riscal delivers yet another masterclass in value and style with the 2020 Rioja Reserva. From their flagship wines on down the range, the class and resources of this historic Rioja hotel and bodega are on full display, so this JS94, case-buy gem is bound to become another Spanish best-seller in no time. The 2020 is "really poised and persistent, showing precision and finesse" plus the characteristic Rioja rusticity that the old-school purists love. It's also exhibit A for why Rioja is one of the world's top destinations for everything from benchmark cellar treasures to stunning overachievers like this one.

94JS 92WE

Refined nose with peppery and earthy undertones to the savory berry fruit, subtle vanilla and orange. Minerals as well. This is firm and quite long on the palate, with medium body and a traditional, nicely rustic twist at the end. Really poised and persistent, showing precision and finesse. One of the best Reserva expressions lately from Marques de Riscal? A joy to drink now, but will hold well over the next 10 years.

94 points, Zekun Shuai, James Suckling (Sep 2024)

The scent of purple plum, lavender and dried thyme wafts from the glass. Satiny tannins coat the mouth and bring black currant, Simka plum, olive tapenade, baking spice and cocoa powder flavors. The smooth finish is noted for a light burst of mint.

2023 Quinta Nova Unoaked Tinto (750ml)
Touriga Nacional from Douro, Portugal
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

While Portugal's Douro Valley is obviously most famous its fortified port wines, the number of estates gaining serious attention for their dry whites and reds is growing with every vintage, and you can add Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo (or "Quinta Nova" for short) to that list.

This historic property is arguably one of the most visually dramatic places in the wine world (something that can be said for pretty much all of the Douro Valley), and their ancient, terraced vineyard blocks are home to approximately 130 massale selected vine species, rigorously documented, nursed, and cultivated from the estate's original vines planted over 200 years ago. Now under the direction of the Amorim family, the estate has seen a resurgence in investment over the past two decades, which has brought their wines up to a next-level quality and garnered the accompanying critical recognition.

This set of new arrivals is highlighted by the 2023 Reserva Terroir Red, a 92-point blend of Douro's most famous red grapes that showcases the classic winemaking and style of this famed region. The estate also hits the collectible sphere with impressive results both white and red. The 2023 Mirabilis Branco is a true field blend, composed of several varietals of very old vines, all co-planted in a handful of small plots. James Suckling and Luis Gutierrez both make Burgundian comparisons to this singular white wine with a "showy, large nose and personality." Finally, don't miss the "exceptional," 97-point 2019 Centenaria Referencia P29/P21. As the name implies, it's crafted from 100-year-old vines, mainly Touriga Nacional. "Wonderfully expressive, the fruit here is special," notes Wine Advocate's Mark Squires, "The wine is seductive rather than astringent. Perfect balance completes the picture here."

With winners in every price point and quality tier, Quinta Nova is a sure bet for long-time Portugal fans and novices alike to explore the unparalleled variety and style of this historic wine region.

Described as "an Argentine winemaker with rock star appeal" by the Wine Enthusiast's Michael Schachner, the remarkably talented 100 pt. winemaker Marcelo Pelleriti is at the forefront of crafting vineyard-driven Malbec in the Uco Valley, his blockbuster 96 pt. 2021 Marcelo Pelleriti Heritage Terroir Expressions Hostage revealing fragrant, concentrated dark fruit with refined, silky tannins on a long, mineral finish, boasting the complexity of old vine Malbec to enjoy over the next decade at a remarkable value price.

Located southwest of the City of Mendoza, Argentina's Uco Valley has enjoyed a rise in popularity among wine travelers over the last two decades, its stunning scenery framed by the snowcapped Andes Mountains home to a new wave of high-end luxury wine resorts earning it the title "Argentina's Napa Valley" from critic Tim Atkin. Boasting a diverse range of high altitude terroirs inspiring a new movement towards "wines with an authentic sense of place" according to Vinous critic Joaquin Hidalgo, Uco Valley native Marcelo Pelleriti has been a pioneer of vineyard driven wines in the region for nearly two decades, gaining international recognition as the first Argentinian-born winemaker to garner a perfect Parker score for his 100 pt. 2010 Chateau La Violette Bordeaux and establishing his personal label Mendoza winery on his family's 110-year-old farm in La Consulta in 2007. Forming a collaborative partnership with Miguel Priore to craft terroir expressive Grand Cru wines from the region's old vine Malbec, Marcelo sourced the 2021 Heritage Terroir Expressions Hostage cuvee from the Altamira vineyard situated at 1,100 meters above sea level, planted with pre-phylloxera Malbec vines over 60 years of age in a rugged terrain of rocky alluvial soils that produce intensely concentrated, tiny thick-skinned berries and naming the cuvee for being "held hostage" by the vineyard's alluring old vine Malbec. Fermenting the hand harvested grapes with native yeasts in stainless steel, the refined 2021 Marcelo Pelleriti Heritage Terroir Expressions Hostage Malbec was aged for 12 months in French oak barrels and 12 months longer in bottle, revealing a harmonious, beautifully balanced Malbec described as "supple, smooth and polished" by critic Tim Atkin with a fresh solid core of fruit boasting distinct minerality on a backbone of ripe, polished tannins.

Among "the most dynamic winemakers in Argentina" according to James Suckling, the impressive 96 pt. 2021 Marcelo Pelleriti Heritage Terroir Expressions Hostage Malbec showcases Marcelo's remarkable expertise for transparently expressing the distinctive Uco Valley terroir, a thrilling old vine Malbec at an unheard of price worthy of stocking the cellar to enjoy over the next decade.

2023 Weingut Wagner-Stempel Estate Riesling (750ml)
Riesling from Rheinhessen, Germany
B-21 Top Recommendation

"Wagner-Stempel now plays in the top league of dry German wine ... The 2023 Riesling collection is outstanding." - Anne Krebiehl MW, Vinous

The Rheinhessen is the largest region in Germany, so when a producer stands out as one of the very best here, they really stand out, and that's certainly the case with Wagner-Stempel. Winemaker Daniel Wagner is one of the region's most accomplished, but the estate is still under the radar on the global scene. Nonetheless, these are some of the most exquisite and artfully crafted dry Rieslings in Germany, and the 2023 vintage gave Daniel plenty of great material to flash his mettle.

The estate's crown jewels are unquestionably the renowned Grosses Gewächs (or "grand cru") vineyards of Höllberg and Heerkretz, each of which turned out a stunning expression in 2023 with superlative accolades from Vinous' Anne Krebiehl and James Suckling's Riesling critic, Stuart Pigott. The 97-point Höllberg GG offers up a masterclass in terroir with its "astonishing aromas" and its "fluid, slender, full-fruited, even exuberant stoniness." The 98-point Heerkretz GG is an equally masterful achievement of "extraordinary beauty ... with a combination of coolness and gracefulness that’s extremely rare in the world of dry riesling, or anywhere else." Finally, if you want a glimpse of the spectacular style of the estate and these two exceptional vineyards without having to open one of the GGs before it's ready, dive right into the 2023 Estate Riesling, a 94-point gem made from the younger vines of Heerkretz and Höllberg. "So amazingly fresh and delicate, so sleek and filigreed," it's a profound expression and an unbeatable value all in one sub-$20 package.

Dry German Riesling is certainly having its moment in the limelight, and these "crystalline, supremely aromatic and taut" examples give fans of the category all that they're looking for.

Sourced from a single vineyard planted with some of the oldest vines on California's Central Coast, the elegant 94-point 2022 Cambria Pinot Noir Julia's Vineyard is a stunning California Pinot at an equally stunning value, offering bright aromatic fruit hinting of earthy spice with silky tannins and vibrant acidity, a beautifully crafted expression of Santa Maria Valley's cool-climate terroir unbeatably priced to reach for often.

Named to honor the founders' youngest daughter, Julia's Vineyard is planted with a diverse array of Pinot Noir clones in sandy, alluvial soils of fossilized seashells, shale, and limestone between 400 and 800 feet above sea level, its proximity to the Pacific Ocean moderating temperatures and allowing for extended hangtime. After fermenting the single-vineyard, estate fruit in 100% stainless steel, winemaker Jill Russell aged the flagship 2022 Julia's Vineyard in 22% new French oak, yielding a classically styled Pinot Noir with bright red fruit flavors and seamless, balanced tannins, and "a beautifully textured, medium-bodied, elegant Pinot Noir" as described by Jeb Dunnuck.

Named an "Editor's Choice" by the Wine Enthusiast as "the best Pinot at this price on the market," the enticing 94-point 2022 Cambria Pinot Noir Julia's Vineyard is a sure bet for California Pinot fans seeking outstanding value, an overachiever among some of the most esteemed wine producers of Santa Barbara County that's bargain priced for stocking up.

A unique merlot from northern Sonoma County vineyards that incorporates 23% syrah for a spicier, smokier aspect than usual. It’s dark and deep in flavor but still velvety smooth in texture. Light tannins wrap around ripe red cherries, black plums and black pepper on a full, rich body. Drink now.

92 points, Jim Gordon, James Suckling (Aug 2024)

The Sonoma County Merlot is a blend of 76% Merlot and 24% Syrah. Fermented in stainless steel with a three-day cold soak, it is aged for 18 months in a combination of 11% new French oak and some Eastern European oak. The Syrah component takes centre stage, contributing vibrant notes of violets, blackberry, white pepper, and charcuterie, all balanced with spiced plum fruit. Medium- to full-bodied, the wine features nicely layered, elongated, and mineral-rich tannins. While Merlot lovers might find the pronounced Syrah character surprising, it adds depth and complexity to the blend, making it a sumptuous and delicious wine with an underlying freshness. 2023 Domaine Ferrand Cotes du Rhone Cuvee Antique Vielles Vignes (750ml)
Grenache from Côtes du Rhône, Rhône, France
B-21 Top Recommendation

"Unquestionably one of my favorite producers, Philippe Bravay's Domaine de Ferrand always produces incredibly perfumed, complex, Provençal wines that are never over the top yet loaded with character." - Jeb Dunnuck

Among avid Rhône enthusiasts, Domaine de Ferrand has been a bastion of old-school style and tradition over the years. Their Châteauneuf bottlings routinely capture the attention of collectors and critics alike, but what's seldom noticed is how the domaine's incredible winemaking and terroir pedigree come through in their entire range. Technically, you'd be correct in calling the 2023 Côtes-du-Rhône Cuvée Antique an "entry-level" wine, but once you dive into the specifics, not to mention the wine itself, you'll realize it's anything but entry-level.

Made from three hectares of old, low-yielding vines, the 2023 Antique is the definition of "baby Châteauneuf" in its strident, concentrated Grenache character, accented by touches of Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault to bring structure and added layers of complexity. The entire range from Ferrand found great success in James Suckling's recent reviews, with the Antique notching 94 points and landing among many Châteauneufs at twice its price or more.

We've just secured a remarkable price on this stunning overachiever that puts it well within the case-buy category, making it a perfect option to stack high and deep in the cellar. If you often find yourself with a craving for top-tier red Rhône character but don't want to break into your Châteauneuf supply, this is your go-to performer. It will deliver the goods today and any time over the coming decade.

2021 Le Cinciole Chianti Classico (750ml)
Sangiovese from Chianti, Tuscany, Italy
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

Described as a "gem of a producer" by Decanter, Podere Le Cinciole may well be the ultimate insider's Tuscan estate, these high scoring, under the radar selections expressing the estate's exceptional "golden" terroir in Chianti Classico's high altitude terrain and quietly gaining the lesser known Le Cinciole a reputation among critics including Antonio Galloni of Vinous as "one of the leading estates in all of Italy," each of these artisan-crafted red wines also among the region's top values.

Situated on a biodiverse 30-hectare hilltop estate that includes an olive grove of 1,000 trees, Le Cinciole owners Luca Orsini and Valeria Vigano produce their measured, thoughtful wines from 11-hectares of biodynamically farmed vineyards in the Conca d'Oro, the amphitheater-shaped "golden basin" considered the Grand Cru of the region, planted in galestro soils of clay and schist ranging from 400 to 450 meters above sea level at one of the highest elevations in the region. Described as "one of the most distinctive wines in the appellation" by Vinous critic Antonio Galloni, the remarkably expressive 93 pt. 2019 Le Cinciole Chianti Classico and 92 pt. 2020 Le Cinciole Chianti Classico entry level cuvees were crafted from 100% Sangiovese and aged for 12 months in medium French oak barrels and a year in concrete before bottling, yielding seductive, earthy fruit and elegant tannins and described as "a perennial overperformer" by Decanter's Michaela Morris that's not to be missed. Crafted from 100% Sangiovese and aged well beyond the minimum requirement of 30 months for Chianti Classico's elite Gran Selezione category, Decanter critic Morris named the elegant 96 pt. 2016 Le Cinciole Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Aluigi one of her Top 10 wines of 2021, its luscious core of rich Sangiovese fruit and balanced mineral driven acidity boasting "quite a wow factor," while Monica Larner of the Wine Advocate describes the "bold" 95 pt. 2018 Gran Selezione Aluigi as having "a lovely defined character" and Antonio Galloni of Vinous praises the 96 pt. 2019 Gran Selezione Aluigi as setting the gold standard for the classification, exclaiming "what a gorgeous wine this is." A deeply layered blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with Syrah and Merlot, the exquisite 95 pt. 2016 Le Cinciole Camalaione is "absolutely gorgeous" according to critic Galloni, boasting lush dark fruits with remarkable persistence and balanced acidity, while the powerful 94 pt. 2017 Le Cinciole Camalaione "packs a huge punch" and the enticing 96 pt. 2018 Le Cinciole Camalaione is "a knockout," describing the atypical blend as offering "stunning depth and textural intensity." Sourced from 100% Sangiovese grown in a single vineyard at the estate's highest elevation, Antonio Galloni calls the flagship 97 pt. 2017 Le Cinciole Petresco "breathtaking" while the 98 pt. 2019 Le Cinciole Petresco boasts "notable depth and intensity," and like all Le Cinciole's top cuvees, both are built to deliver pleasurable drinking over the next decade and beyond.

While Panzano and the Conca D'Oro have gained notoriety among collectors as the home to high profile producers like Fontodi, Le Cinciole's top scoring wines remain among Tuscany's hidden treasures, still seeming "to fly under the radar" according to Antonio Galloni and a rare opportunity for lovers and collectors of bold Tuscan reds to "strike gold" and scoop up a stash of Le Cinciole's purely irresistible wines at unbeatable prices.

The 2021 Chianti Classico is a fabulous introduction to this range from Le Cinciole. Brisk acids and veins of tannin give the 2021 its shape and plenty of overall energy. 2023 Quinta Nova Grainha Reserva Blanco (750ml)
From Douro, Portugal
B-21 Top Recommendation

The white 2023 Grainha Reserva Branco, a wine first produced in 2006, comes from the higher-altitude parts where the soils are transitioning from schist to granite and is a blend of similar parts of Viosinho, Rabigato and Gouveio. It was produced in a way to preserve the primary aromas and its linear character, fermenting it at low temperature. It matured in a combination of French and Hungarian oak and concrete (40%) for seven months. It's balsamic, with notes of yellow fruit and spice and a medium-bodied palate with volume and some tannins even, able to stand up to food. It has ripeness and 13.5% alcohol. 75,000 bottles produced. "The 2023 is such a classy offering ...What an absolute delight." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Established in 2007 by the son of Ravenswood founding winemaker Joel Peterson, Bedrock Wine Company's Morgan Twain-Peterson and long-time business partner Chris Cottrell craft their wines from a who's-who list of the region's most historic vineyards, sourcing the old vine Zinfandel from century-old sites throughout Sonoma and Contra Costa counties, including Peterson's own Bedrock Vineyard. Described by Antonio Galloni as "among the most pedigreed vineyard sites anywhere in the world," Bedrock was the first California vineyard to be replanted in 1888 following the devastation of phylloxera, boasting a Zinfandel-dominated field mix planted in volcanic rocks and cobbly loam soil and farmed organically by the Petersons without irrigation. Blending 85% Zinfandel with 7% Carignan, 4% Cinsault and small amounts of other varieties averaging 80 years of age and fermenting with native yeasts, Morgan aged the lush 2023 Bedrock Zinfandel Old Vine in a combination of French oak and Austrian oak puncheons and foudres with about 10% new, yielding a fresh and delicately spiced Zinfandel with layered fine tannins that's ready to enjoy and will continue to mature gracefully over the next few years.

Crafted by "one of the most talented winemakers of his generation" according to Galloni, the impressive, 93-point 2023 Bedrock Zinfandel Old Vine is blended from many of the iconic sites that go into Bedrock's single-vineyard Zins at a fraction of their price, delivering a transparent expression of rich, old-vine Zinfandel for an unbeatable value.

The 2023 Zinfandel Old Vine was raised in 600-gallon foudre with a small proportion (8%) in new oak, and it’s roughly 90% Zinfandel along with an eclectic field mix. The nose opens to bright peppery spice, fresh cut flowers, and black raspberries, with deeper notes of fresh sanguine earth coming through. The palate is full-bodied yet restrained, with a detailed structure and length with a mountainous feel. It’s a great lens into the range they produce here at Bedrock and a tremendous value. Drink 2025-2032.

The 2023 Zinfandel Old Vine is a very pretty wine. Floral, spice-inflected and lifted, the 2023 is such a classy offering. In this vintage, the Old Vine Zinfandel is incredibly varietal. "While not as dense as some vintages, it is a vibrant and boisterous mid-weight mouthful." - Decanter

What La Chablisiènne is to Burgundy, Produttori del Barbaresco is to Piedmont (and Italy overall) –the undisputed standard bearer for excellence in a wine co-operative. This legendary producer has been setting the tone for Barbaresco for decades, turning out vintage after vintage of reference-point, collectible expressions from their incredible stable of prized crus.

Of course,  we're eagerly awaiting the release of the inimitable, single-vineyard Riservas from the monumental 2021 vintage, but we're also getting a glimpse of another special vintage on the horizon in the 2023 Langhe Nebbiolo, a superb "Baby Barbaresco" if ever there was one. Sourced exclusively from Barbaresco-designated sites, this is a lovely representation of a solid vintage for the region, offering fans of the old-school Barbarescos something to dive into while they wait for the collectible gems to come of age. Kerin O'Keefe calls it "a fantastic wine" for its lifted, perfumed aromatics and tense, lively palate structure, and we can confirm – this is crowd-pleasing Nebbiolo at its best, with an added element of top-notch pedigree to take it up a level or two.

93KO 92WA 91D

The 2023 Langhe Nebbiolo from Produttori del Barbaresco is a fantastic wine that offers beautiful aromas of perfumed face powder, violet, rose and fragrant wild berry. Showing great tension, the spicy, savory palate features tart cherry, crushed strawberry, clove, white pepper and star anise alongside lithe tannins.

93 points, Kerin O'Keefe (Sep 2025)

This wine was bottled approximately one month before I tasted it in October and was set to hit the market in November 2024. The Produttori del Barbaresco 2023 Langhe Nebbiolo shows a shiny ruby appearance and offers crunchy fruit flavors with blueberry and tart raspberry. Fruit is collected from the sites and the warmer microclimates that don't end up in the Barbaresco program, and the wine sees a shorter maceration time, lasting 21 days.

92 points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate (Jan 2025)

The 2023 leaps from the glass with clove, pepper and nutmeg. While not as dense as some vintages, it is a vibrant and boisterous mid-weight mouthful. Pleasantly cheek-puckering sour cherry and blackcurrant are amplified by frisky acidity. The spicy finish makes for an appropriate bookend. Exclusively from Barbaresco-designated vineyards, this is a blend of lots that don’t make it into the classic or cru Barbaresco bottlings.

2023 Ridge Three Valleys (750ml)
Zinfandel from Sonoma County, California
B-21 Top Recommendation

Is there a more consistently excellent estate in California than Ridge Vineyards? You'd be hard-pressed to make an argument otherwise. Decades of category-defining class and substance have resulted in untold numbers of awards and accolades, so it's no surprise to see them once again at the head of the class in this set of new arrivals.

One of the most beloved wines in the Ridge stable, the Lytton Springs is a classic California old-vine field blend, based on ZInfandel that has come to set the standard for the style over decades of uninterrupted success. From Ridge's estate vineyard in the Dry Creek Valley that includes centenarian Zinfandel vines, the "fabulous" 2021 Lytton Springs is "bright and vibrant to its core" according to Galloni's 95-point review,

Of course, Ridge is also renowned for delivering serious bang for the buck throughout their extensive range, and two perennial favorites are the 2020 Lytton Estate Petite Sirah and the 2023 Three Valleys. The former is a 95-point powerhouse that Antonio Galloni calls "superb ... deep and resonant." The sub-$25, double 93-point Three Valleys is a true QPR star, "generous and robust yet retaining a sense of polish." It's a no-brainer choice for an everyday red, because it delivers a level or two above that tier, yet it can be easily stacked by the case at a bargain price.

93JD 93WS 91WE

Made since 2001 from a number of Sonoma County vineyards, the 2023 Three Valleys blends 71% Zinfandel, 16% Carignane, 9% Petite Sirah, 2% each Mataro and Alicante Bouschet from Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma Valley, and Russian River Valley. Floral, it is complex and less rustic than usual, the vintage showing classic charm and elegance. Though it is one of Ridge's largest production wines, it is made in the exact same way as all its others, in open top tanks with real oak and native fermentations. It's meant to represent a vintage more than a location. A popular by-the-glass pour, order it when you see it. It's drinking well now and should continue to for another 5-7 years.

"One of the most dynamic winemakers in Argentina"

James Suckling

Crafted by B-21 favorite Marcelo Pelleriti, the first Argentinian-born winemaker to garner a perfect Parker score for a Bordeaux wine, the alluring 96 pt. 2019 Marcelo Pelleriti Selection Blend of Terroir reveals fresh, fragrant dark fruit balanced by creamy refined tannins on a smooth, long-lasting finish, a masterful blend of old vine Malbec from Mendoza's Uco Valley from a rock star winemaker built to enjoy over the next decade at an unfathomable value price.

Renowned as the incredible talent behind transforming the Grand Vin of two Pomerol estates including producing the 100 pt. 2010 La Violette, Marcelo Pelleriti established his personal label Mendoza winery on his family's 110-year-old farm in La Consulta in the Uco Valley in 2007, a region described as encapsulating "the spirit of winemaking precision and creativity" in Argentina by Vinous' Joaquin Hidalgo and called "Argentina's Napa Valley" by critic Tim Atkin. Sourced from a diverse range of vineyards throughout Uco Valley with a variety of alluvial, mineral-rich soils, Marcelo crafted the elegantly balanced 2019 Marcelo Pelleriti Selection Blend of Terroir from 85% old vine Malbec and 15% Cabernet Franc grown at high altitudes in the Andes foothills, many of the pre-phylloxera, gnarled Malbec vines planted over 100 years ago at 1,000 meters above sea level. After co-fermenting the hand harvested grapes with indigenous yeasts, Marcelo aged the impressive 2019 Blend of Terroir for 16-22 months in French oak barrels with 18 months longer in bottle, yielding a "well-crafted and keenly priced" blend according to Neal Martin of Vinous revealing dense luscious fruit with velvety tannins and layers of complexity promising longevity.

From "a creative hotspot producing some of Argentina's best and most modern wines" according to Vinous' Joaquin Hidalgo, the exceptional 96 pt. 2019 Marcelo Pelleriti Selection Blend of Terroir reflects Marcelo Pelleriti's passion and expertise as a leading producer of terroir-expressive wines in the Uco Valley, offering his loyal following and collectors of Argentina's best red wines an exciting opportunity to enjoy a thrilling, age worthy Malbec from a remarkable winemaker at an equally remarkable price.

A fresh and linear wine with lots of presence. Crushed stone, blackberries, blueberries. ink and lead. Full-bodied with chewy yet fine tannins and a long finish. Lovely texture and length to this. 85% malbec co-fermented with 15% cabernet franc. From Altamira, Agrelo and La Consulta. Better in two or three years and will age beautifully.

"Anyone looking for Oregon Pinot Noir purity and transparent communication of terroir from the soil to the vine to the bottle must explore Kelley Fox Wines." - Eric Guido, Vinous

Long-time B-21 Pinot Noir fans are now well-familiar with the spectacular offerings from this boutique darling of the Willamette Valley scene. With a critical track record to rival pretty much anyone else in the appellation, Kelley Fox is a bona fide star these days, and we're thrilled to have such an established relationship with her and her wines.

This outstanding set of releases showcases exactly why Eric Guido calls Kelley's wines "one of the most exciting portfolios of wines made in the United States." Her elegant vineyard-expressive Pinot Noirs and  energetic Chardonnays are sourced from many of the most iconic vineyard in the Valley. The entire line-up is full of must-try masterpieces, from the 94-point "entry-level" Mirabai to the single-vineyard stunners like the 98-point 2023 Shafer Vineyard and the pair of 2022 standouts from Maresh Vineyard, one of the oldest sites in Oregon. Of these two, it's particularly worth noting that Kelley won't be making wine from Maresh going forward, so get your hands on them now. The whites are equally compelling, and not just the Chards (although these do present some of the sharpest buys in the category, all at under $40). Her Grüner and Pinot Blanc are a testament to her unwavering belief in these varietals, and the critics seem to agree.

Any way you look at it, these are among the most consistently excellent wines out there, not only in Oregon but in the entire country. If you haven't jumped on board the Kelley Fox wagon, you have no idea what you're missing.

The 2024 Grüner Veltliner mixes fresh lime zest with green melon, mint and wild herbs to form its enticing bouquet. Oily textures are offset by a stimulating core of acidity and crisp orchard fruit as a cascade of citrusy spice swirls throughout. Wickedly fresh, it leaves the palate stimulated and watering for more as a sour twang curls the tongue.

"In my mind, and according to my palate for that matter, Jean-Marc Burgaud is the don of Morgon. His wines achieve the highest levels and have an unerring propensity to repay cellaring." - Neal Martin, Vinous

Earlier this year we solidified a domaine-direct relationship with a true Beaujolais icon, and now the "first fruits" of this new relationship have just landed in stock. Dubbed "a winemaker at the peak of his powers" by William Kelley, Jean-Marc Burgaud is unquestionably among the elite in Beaujolais, and his wines are roundly coveted by fans and collectors, yet they remain some of the sharpest QPR buys in all of France.

Over the years, Jean-Marc has undergone quite the transformation in his winemaking technique, resulting in the benchmark expressions we know and love today. He's an ardent proponent of Morgon's exceptional individual terroirs, and his classic, semi-carbonic winemaking aims to express each parcel to its fullest. The highlight of the range, Burgaud's Cote du Py James is his perennial magnum opus, sourced from a parcel at the very top of the appellation's most iconic lieu-dit. "The 2022 Morgon Côte du Py James, succulent and complex, is one of the best showings for the vintage for this famous lieu-dit," notes Wine Advocate. Not as well-known but every bit as compelling is the 2022 Côte du Py Javernieres, a JS95 insider's favorite that isn't often seen in the U.S. market. We're also thrilled to present a trio of Burgaud's newly released 2024s, each one a superb expression of its Morgon terroir and a benchmark example of one the region's greatest winemaking talents.

We'll say it again – we couldn't be more thrilled with this new partnership because our direct access to Jean-Marc's cellars brings the benchmark gems to us at jaw-dropping pricing that you won't see anywhere else.

The 2024 Morgon Côte du Py has a vivid, stony bouquet with redcurrant and raspberry fruit unfolding in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins and a touch more sour cherry in the mix, especially on the piquant finish. Again, this is very promising and might become the edgiest of Burgaud's 2024s.

The 2024 Morgon La Roche (formerly Corcelette) has a perfumed rose petal-tinged bouquet with wonderful transparency. The palate is very balanced—again, quite linear in style. 2023 Quinta Nova Terroir Red Blend Reserva (750ml)
Touriga Franca from Douro, Portugal

The 2023 Reserva Terroir Tinto is balanced and fine-boned, with contained ripeness and 14% alcohol. It was produced with Touriga Franca (35%), Touriga Nacional (35%), Tinta Roriz (15%) and Tinto Cão (15%), fermented in stainless steel with neutral yeasts and matured in 300-liter French oak barrels (mostly used) and 23% in 3,600-liter concrete vats. It has a balanced combination of fruit, herbs and spicy oak, with hints of vanilla and cinnamon, a medium to full-bodied palate and abundant, fine tannins. It's approachable, but better with food. 70,000 bottles and 2,000 magnums produced. It was bottled in June 2024.

2023 Coudoulet de Beaucastel (750ml)

"...a great vintage for Coudoulet." - Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate

Reflecting its well-earned reputation as "the Baby Beaucastel," the 2023 Coudoulet de Beaucastel is another terrific vintage from one of Châteauneuf-du-Pape's iconic domaines, a solidly built, age-worthy Côtes-du-Rhône that takes the category a step up in terms of quality, character, and pedigree – the Coudoulet vines lie just on the "wrong side" of the road from Beaucastel's official Châteauneuf parcels, so the moniker isn't just a trope. Soils, micro-climates and vine heritage are all similar, so the Coudoulet wine always offers glimpses of its world-class terroir.

This JS93 "solid, focused, juicy and poised wine" is picture-perfect introduction to the vintage at Beaucastel. "The 2023s are particularly successful, combining technical precision with the identity of the vintage. Cool-toned, precise and dense without excess weight, they rank among the most compelling wines of the appellation," according to Yohan Castaing's latest Wine Advocate report. We've always loved Coudoulet for its clear Beaucastel soul, which is on full display in 2023, but also because it's available for a fraction of the price of even many lesser Châteauneufs.

93JS 92WA 92JD

A solid, focused, juicy and poised wine, showing red berries, sweet spices and dried-flower aromas. Medium-bodied with finely grained tannins. Lovely crushed-strawberry character to the silky texture. Bright and fruit-forward, this has a seductive, succulent finish and a lift of peppercorns. Drink or hold.

93 points, James Suckling (Apr 2025)

The 2023 Cotes du Rhone Coudoulet de Beaucastel reveals aromas of dark berries, flowers, spices and garrigue, followed by a medium- to full-bodied, round and charming palate framed by velvety tannins. It concludes with a long, fruity and gourmand finish. This is a great vintage for Coudoulet—a blend of 30% Mourvèdre, 30% Grenache Noir, 30% Syrah and 10% Cinsault.

92 points, Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate (Oct 2025)

Bottled three months ago and showing beautifully, the 2023 Côtes Du Rhône Coudoulet De Beaucastel is based on 30% each of Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvèdre with 10% Cinsault and brought up all in foudre. It offers darker berries, pepper, sappy flowers, and some obvious stony, earth-like minerality in a medium-bodied, nicely concentrated, layered style. It's balanced with terrific purity, ripe tannins, and outstanding length, offering incredible pleasure today, yet it will keep for 10-12 years. Drink 2025-2036.
