Ripe, but not a jot overripe on the generous medium-bodied palate, this confidently walks the tightrope between tartness and opulence, the balance of fruit, restrained creaminess and animating acidity spot on. The 2022 Loibner Ried Loibenberg Grüner Veltliner is generously intense in its ripe fruit aromas yet elegant and spiced with notes of crushed stones and iodine. Round and elegant on the palate, this is a savory, intense, aromatic and very fruity but well-balanced Veltliner with a stimulatingly saline and finely grippy yet also intense and aromatic finish. This is a generous yet also fresh and playful Veltliner that is one of the finest produced along the Danube River in 2022.

The 2022 Grüner Veltliner Loibenberg is from the warm, south-facing Loibenberg. The nose is shy, with a hint of ripe, yellow pear. Yeasty smoothness and flow, and a certain roundedness define the palate, which nonetheless shimmers with white pepper and a slight herbal edge. This has smoother feel to its medium body yet tapers to a taut finish. (Bone-dry)
