Good selection, easy website to navigate, reasonable shipping cost (even better when I take advantage of the 12‑on‑21 monthly offer. It's just too bad that FL online alcohol stores is not able to ship hard liquor to Indiana. I'd love to buy cocktail liquors other than vermouth from B‑21.

“This wine made a significant impression on me.”- Yohan Castaing,Wine Advocate

From the lesser travelled Right Bank region producing cooler climate Bordeaux blends with an “enviable reputation” according to Decanter’s James Lawther, the lush and elegant 93 pt. 2019 Joanin Becot offers fresh aromatic and juicy dark fruit with supple, chalky tannins on a lengthy, luxurious finish, a lavish Cotes de Castillon described as a “pure, incredibly elegant, balanced beauty” by Jeb Dunnuck and value priced at a fraction of its St. Emilion neighbors to stock the cellar and enjoy over the next decade.

Located in the commune of Saint Philippe d'Aiguilhe, Chateau Joanin Becot is situated on Bordeaux’s Right Bank on a limestone plateau at some of the highest elevations in the Cotes de Castillon, considered the finest terroir in the region and purchased as a “father-daughter” project of Gerard and Juliette Becot in 2001, the family also well-known as the owners of St. Emilion’s Chateau Beau-Sejour Becot. Home to a number of high-profile vintners including Stephan von Neipperg of Chateau Canon-la-Gaffeliere and La Mondotte and famed consulting enologist Stephane Derenoncourt, Joanin Becot’s 15 hectares of vineyards in the Cotes de Castillon are planted in clay and limestone soils to 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, the vines averaging around 40 years of age including a parcel of Cab Franc that dates back to 1870. A blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, winemaker Juliette Becot employed strict plot by plot selection of the hand harvested grapes before aging the 2019 Joanin Becot in a mix of 50% new French oak barrels along with vats, amphorae and tuns, yielding a “vibrant, elegant, yet still concentrated and impeccably made Bordeaux” according to Jeb Dunnuck built to evolve over the next decade and beyond and summed up as “great stuff” by Inside Bordeaux’s Jane Anson.

Declaring the estate one of his favorite producers in the region, the Wine Advocate’s Yohan Castaing noted “what is striking about this estate is the aromatic brilliance of the wines, the precision of the palate and the great value,” the rich and refined 93 pt. 2019 Joanin Becot delivering exceptional quality from an outstanding vintage at a bargain price for Bordeaux collectors to pull the cork and pour freely whenever a taste of Right Bank Bordeaux beckons.

Juliette Bécot (also of Château Beau-Séjour Bécot in Saint-Émilion) has done great work in this vintage! The 2019 Joanin Bécot reveals an abundance of cassis, blueberry, flower and violet aromas overlaid with a nuance of graphite. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is perfectly balanced and framed by fine, controlled tannins and power. This wine made a significant impression on me.

93 points, Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate (Apr 2023)

Mulberries, ripe cherries, tobacco leaf, and chalky mineral notes all emerge from the 2019 Château Joanin Bécot, another pure, incredibly elegant, balanced beauty from this family. Readers who love vibrant, elegant, yet still concentrated and impeccably made Bordeaux will love this medium-bodied, seamless 2019 that can be drunk any time over the coming 10-15.

92 points, Jeb Dunnuck (Apr 2022)

Evident freshness from the first moment, plenty of body to the savoury red fruits. Everything is in balance and you get both juice, deepening gourmet touches of chocolate shavings and salinity as it builds to the finish. Great stuff, and low SO2 additions.

92 points, Jane Anson, Decanter (May 2020)

Juicy and direct, featuring a mix of black cherry and red currant fruit that stretches out nicely, with singed alder and tobacco notes and a subtle chalky thread that guides the flavors through the finish. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2029.

91 points, James Molesworth, Wine Spectator (Jan 2022)

A perfumed nose of cherries, currants, plums, violets, clay and baking spices. Medium-bodied with fine tannins. Fruity and balanced with a fresh, supple finish. 75% merlot and 25% cabernet franc. Drink from 2023.

91 points, James Suckling (Feb 2022)
