The 2022 Chinon “le Rosé” from Domaine Baudry is quite a pale salmon color in this vintage. It is fermented in cement vats with native yeasts and raised in stainless steel tank. The wine is beautifully precise and citric on the nose this year, with the bouquet hopping from the glass in a mix of tangerine, a touch of white cherry, a lovely base of soil tones, rose petals, white lilies and a hint of white pepper in the upper register. On the palate the wine is vibrant, full-bodied and elegant in profile, with a fine core of fruit, zesty acids, lovely balance and a long, focused and complex finish. Good juice.

The 2022 Rosé Chinon opens with a pretty blend of sweet spice, young peaches and freshly shaved pine. This is soft and round with a bump of zesty acidity and minerals that add tension. Ripe strawberry and melon tones wash across the senses. The 2022 finishes with decent length and a pleasantly chewy sensation as un tea and candied orange hints fade.
