Thrilled to get my wine and packaged so delicately that nothing could have happened to it. It did arrive a day earlier that originally stated but I was home so no problem. Next time I will opt for the drop off spot so there is no danger in missing it. Thanks for your great service and having this wine in your stock. Everyone is out of it around me. You get some more, too!

Great variety and top‑quality selections of wines; it's like being a kid in a candy store. I especially like how many NZ wines B‑21 stocks. Ordering online is an easy click away; shipping is easy too. When I buy wines there, one of my options is holding them in B‑21's cold storage facility for up to 60 days, which allows me to buy and hold purchases on up and build a mixed case over time that qualifies for free shipping.

I buy from them because they have good prices, great selection but mostly because they answer all emails like "where is my wine ". The customer service team is great!

I ordered a case of various wines online, and everything went very smoothly. They had most of what that I was looking for, and also had wines that I was not planning on buying, but were priced well so they I couldn't pass then up. Shipping was fast and everything was packed well. I'll be ordering more as soon as I pick out some favorites from this sample selection. I've also visited the store in person, and they have an excellent selection of Champagne and whiskey.

Great stock, good prices. Prompt shipping (and good packaging, never had anything arrive broken), I got my most recent shipment in 2 to 3 days. Ordering info gives key information (like wine ratings) in addition (of course) to price.

Had a great experience with B‑21! To be honest I was a little concerned hearing some horror stories about people ordering Bourbon from websites. But was very happy with B‑21 from the start to the delivery. I had been trying to get some Penelope Toasted Marshmallow locally and everyone ran out but B‑21 came to the rescue. I will definitely make future purchases from them and will recommend them to all my friends. Thanks B‑21 for an amazing experience!!!!

"So balanced that you could drink it now but it will age for decades"

James Suckling

Reflecting a record of astounding consistency including garnering the coveted #1 spot on the Wine Spectator's Top 100, the powerful 100 pt. 2021 Clos Apalta reveals gorgeous aromatics of rich, dark concentrated fruit with impressive depth and flawless balance on a lingering, silky finish, a pinnacle of Chilean wine making standing shoulder to shoulder with the world's greatest red wines and an outstanding value for collectors of age worthy red wines.

Perched on a steep hillside northeast of Santa Cruz, the stunning architecture of the Clos Apalta winery is marked by massive slats of Chile's native red-toned rauli wood resembling barrel staves stretching over two stories high, its gravity-fed winery below comprised of seven underground floors descending over 100 feet into solid granite. Arriving in the Colchagua Valley in 1994, French Grand Marnier heiress Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and her husband Cyril de Bournet hired renowned French oenologist Michel Rolland to lead the construction of their Bordeaux-style estate, restoring its century old vineyards of Carmenere and Cabernet Sauvignon and tapping their son Charles-Henri de Bournet to take over as CEO in 2013. Boasting a distinct micro-climate that creates optimal conditions for ripening while maintaining the grapes' freshness and acidity, the estate's 53-hectare horseshoe shaped vineyard is located at the entrance of the Apalta Valley, its oldest vines from stocks imported from France dating back to 1907 and enjoying the natural protection of the Tinguiririca River and the Andes foothills from extreme heat. Blending 75% Carmenere, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Merlot, winemaker Andrea Leon aged the refined 2021 Clos Apalta for 21 months in 78% new French oak and the remainder in second use barrels before bottling without filtering or fining, yielding a rich, harmonious blend of "exceptionally good quality" according to Inside Bordeaux's Jane Anson with "a weightless structure that shows class and verve" according to James Suckling.

Described by Joaquin Hidalgo of Vinous as "one of those rare Chilean wines that reliably showcases the characteristics of each vintage while maintaining a consistent house style," the elegant 100 pt. 2021 Clos Apalta boasts a fresh, vineyard expressive character from a cooler growing season crafted in the estate's powerful signature style, a delicious Bordeaux-inspired blend reflecting its exceptional Chilean terroir that promises savvy collectors over two decades of pleasurable drinking.

96WS #6 Top 100

Extremely aromatic with red currants, blackcurrants, spices, iodine, paprika and subtle hints of white pepper. Fresh flowers, fresh sage, lavender and some pine needles and sandalwood. Medium-bodied with perfectly integrated tannins that go on for minutes with refined and harmonious fruit that integrates beautifully into the wine, giving it a weightless structure that shows class and verve. Endless balance and length. It’s so balanced that you could drink it now but it will age for decades. A blend of 75% carmenere, 18% cabernet sauvignon and 7% merlot. Best after 2028.

100 points, James Suckling (Mar 2024)

The 2021 Clos Apalta comprises 75% Carménère, with the remainder filled out by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, sourced from the eponymous Apalta Vineyard. It was aged for 24 months in oak barrels, two-thirds of which were new. This dark purple wine reveals nuanced aromas of graphite, herbs, dried plums and blackberry marmalade, complemented by mint, boldo and garrigue-like notes over a green bell pepper layer. Plush and ample on the palate, it is lifted by a mild refreshing quality that adds a rare nimbleness to its flow. This long-lasting red is a serious wine, less influenced by Michel Rolland's style than in other years, as the fresh vintage imparted a lighter, less ripe and more expressive character. Clos Apalta is one of those rare Chilean wines that reliably showcases the characteristics of each vintage while maintaining a consistent house style. That steadiness is a boon for consumers, as it allows them to appreciate the impact of different vintages, which is a significant part of the allure of high-quality wines.

98 points, Joaquín Hidalgo, Vinous (Jul 2024)

Aromatically complex and intriguing, this offers a spiced plum pastry note that melds with petrichor, pine, dried violet and cocoa powder elements. The palate is round and richly textured, with Szechuan peppercorn accents to the concentrated black cherry, plum and cassis center. Everything comes together harmoniously on the finish and lingers, with present but integrated tannins. A stunner that should develop nicely in the cellar. Carmenère, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2040. 11,169 cases made, 1,500 cases imported.

96 points, Aaron Romano, Wine Spectator (May 2025)
