Integrated and refined with a lovely texture of fruit and fine tannins and plenty of crushed strawberry, cherry and citrus fruit. Some sandalwood, too. Medium body. Crisp and fine-textured. Drinkable but better in a year or two.

The Uccelliera 2020 Rapace is a blend of 70% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon that opens to autumnal aromas of earth and dry leaf. The blend is predominately Sangiovese, and those earthy notes underline the intensity of the dominant grape in the blend. Beyond that, you get iris root, blackcurrant, sour plum and a hint of roasted bell pepper. You definitely recognize the wine's Montalcino DNA, but the mouthfeel is broader and richer thanks to the two French grapes. The tannins are powdery on this release of 10,330 bottles (with larger formats also made).
