Nestled in the rolling Tuscan hills halfway between Firenze and Arezzo, Fattoria di Petrolo is located on the border of the Chianti Classico zone in the lesser known Valdarno di Sopra region, centered around a medieval watchtower or "torrione" in Italian and surrounded by lush, verdant forests and shimmering olive trees. Counted among Italy's most talented young artists, Petrolo's owner and winemaker Luca Sanjust left his painting career in the 1980's to run his family's 300-hectare estate near the historic town of Montevarchi, restoring its 31 hectares of hillside vineyards while implementing organic viticulture and becoming "one of the leading estates in Tuscany" according to Vinous critic Antonio Galloni.
