The 2016 Marsannay Clos du Roy, which comes from 70-year-old vines, has a pleasant blackberry and blueberry-scented nose, moderate delineation, a little tinniness in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with a firm structure on the entry, quite masculine in style with plenty of freshness although it just lacks a little fruit on the hard finish. Give this a couple of years in bottle to soften.
