Lemon curd, butterscotch, oyster shells, wet chalk and a touch of pineapple. Full-bodied and luscious, this Burgundian viosinho- and gouveio-based Douro white is powerful and creamy, yet it simultaneously remains fresh and agile. Great balance. Layered and textural on the finish. Drink now or hold.

The 2023 Mirabilis Branco comes in an oversized Burgundy bottle and has a showy, large nose and personality, with spice and ripe yellow fruit, notes of aromatic herbs and a lush and well-oaked palate. It was produced with the field blends from small plots of very old vines where Viosinho and Gouveio tend to dominate. It fermented in 300-liter French oak barrels and concrete vats and matured in used and new barrels and 30% in concrete for 10 months. It's ripe and powerful and comes in at 14% alcohol but keeping good freshness and acidity. It has a little too much oak at the moment, so I'd wait a couple more years for the oak to integrate. 25,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2024.
