Didn't even know the existence of this shop, until I found it out looking for a specific Italian wine other online wine shops did not carry. Went online, quick and easy buying process, very honest pricing. The box with wine was delivered after several days to my Walgreens store. All nice and smooth as expected. Maybe a quick suggestion to make it even better: please have someone (FedEx? Walgreens? B‑21?) notify the buyer of the wine being ready for pick up. I only found out 2 days afterwards as I was growing concerned and opened the FedEx app...

In a single generation, the Brocard family has gone from 1.5-hectares of vines to one of Chablis' household names and a top-selling favorite among Burgundy fans at B-21. With the latest arrivals from the 2023 vintage, it's clear that the domaine turned out another fine range of sharp buys, led by the always reliable, "very haromnious" Vieilles Vignes de Sainte Claire.

Made from vines all planted before 1970, this is as consistent a performer as you'll find in its price tier, the latest rendition being "well balanced with a fine line of acidity, quite tensile with pleasing weight," according to Martin. Redolent of old-vine complexity with "clearly a greater weight of fruit," the 2023 VV Sainte-Claire is that perfect go-to candidate that will offer Chablis fans all the hallmark terroir character that they're looking for at a best-in-market price that makes it easy to open on any occasion.

The 2023 Chablis Vieilles Vignes de Sainte Claire comes from 50-60 year old vines. Clearly a level up from the regular cuvée. This displays more mineralité and nuance on the nose with hints of white truffle. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity, quite tensile with pleasing weight. Very harmonious on the finish. This is worth seeking out.

Pre 1970 vines. The lemon has a vintage ripeness to it. Mid lemon yellow. Clearly a greater weight of fruit to this, stones or pyrazines, clean pure and fresh, a lick of acidity at the back. Fine length. Drink from 2025-2028. Tasted Jun 2024.
