The NV Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Delos (2006 vintage) is a gorgeous wine full of Mesnil character in its grapefruit, flowers, mint and minerals. The wine offers superb length and a long, refreshing close, where crisp apples and lemon zest add complexity to the finish. This is a wonderful, classy effort from Moncuit that is highly representative of Mesnil. Disgorged: September, 2008. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2014.
Moncuit is an excellent source for focused, pure wines, the best of which come from Mesnil, one of the most privileged villages in Champagne for Chardonnay. Even though the wines are single-vintage, they are bottled as NV. Bright yellow. High-pitched aromas of lemongrass, lime and chalk, with complicating notes of honeysuckle and green tea. Fresh and nervy, offering clean citrus and quince flavors and a subtle note of herbs. In a racy, focused style, with solid finishing grip and lingering bitterness.
ubtle, refined Champagne, with pretty flavors of fresh apple, toast, gingersnap and candied lemon peel. Lightly honeyed and juicy, but the focused acidity provides a lip-smacking finish. Drink now through 2020. 91 Points, The Wine Spectator (2011)
