(Lot BC1066A; disgorged September, 2008) Vivid gold. Deep, smoky aromas of dried apple and pear, toasty lees, herbs and rose. Lush and creamy in texture, offering spicy orchard fruit flavors and notes of anise and burnt toast. Impressively complex and deep, with strong finishing minerality and a resonating floral quality. This is also made from grand cru Bouzy fruit. 91 Points, Josh Raynolds for Stephen Tanzer's Int'l Cellar (Dec 2009)
A beautifully elegant and notably complex if restrained nose features aromas with some age yet the overall impression remains fresh and airy and this vibrancy also characterizes the delicious flavors that don't quite have the depth of the nose and are supported by relatively low effervescence yet good if not special length. The nose is really lovely but the rest of the wine doesn't quite remain at the same level. 89 Points, Allen Meadows' Burghound (Oct 2009)
