2009 Chappellet Cabernet Sauvignon Mountain Cuvee, Napa (750ml)

This is not a wine that aims for nor achieves high extraction or breathtaking depth but is, instead, an attractive and very approachable claret-styled red that hits the mark in terms of proportion, fine balance and no-nonsense drinkability. Its modest tannins do nothing to interfere with its forthright fruit, yet they afford some staying power and negate any need for hurried drinking.
