Lewis Chardonnays are always among the richer bottlings to be had, and, when as well-balanced as the brace from 2010, they take their usual place at the head of the class. This one from the Napa Valley is a big, broad, no-holds-barred wine whose sweeping fruit and unabashed oak are wholly in sync and seamlessly knit. Its striking length is as impressive as its concentration and depth, but this is not a wine for those looking for a lean, soft-spoken effort. Rather than oysters and their ilk, this one will shine with dishes wanting authoritative Chardonnay and is guaranteed to delight fans of the same.
