"More orange marmalade, pineapple, honeysuckle, and candied fruit aromas jump from the glass of the deep, full-bodied, elegant, mineral-laced 2007 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard. The wood is pushed well to the background in this layered, well-textured offering. It should drink well for 5-6 years. For the past twenty years, Patz and Hall has been one of California-s finest negociant firms, accessing top quality fruit and vinifying and bottling their wines with minimal intervention. The following efforts represent the finest wines I have tasted from them in many years." 94 points, Wine Advocate # 187 Feb 2010
Medium straw-yellow. Captivating nose combines high-pitched orange blossom and minerals with brown spices and nutty, smoky, vanillin oak. Broad, tactile and rich, with good spicy/floral lift and firm minerality giving energy to the wine. This really saturates the palate, finishing long, subtle and spicy. 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, May/Jun 09
Intense and snappy, featuring firm, vibrant, pear, melon, spice and hazelnut notes that are full-bodied and tightly wound, ending with a dash of marshmallow. This is still a touch coarse, so it's best to rest this one a few months. Best from 2010 through 2016. 2,103 cases made. 89 points, Wine Spectator Issue: Jul 31, 2010
