(70% Monastrell, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Syrah) A regal wine with a French solidity. Quite pure and restrained for Jumilla, there is a touch of that lead pencil and blue-black fruits and earth. Full-bodied with great delineation and a limestone drive and a very long finish. While it might be outside of my jurisdiction, any wine with this type of breed holds my attention. 93 Points, Rhett Beiletti, B-21
(70% monastrell and 15% each of cabernet sauvignon and syrah, raised in new 500-liter French barrels) Deep ruby. Youthful medicinal aromas of dark cherry, licorice, bitter chocolate and herbs, enhanced by a hint of vanilla. Juicy and fresh but also supple and ripe, with fleshy cherry-vanilla, mocha and spice flavors supported by a firm spine of acidity. Tannins build with air but don't show any hardness. Finishes with gentle grip and a suggestion of slightly roasted fruits. 90 points, By Josh Raynolds for Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Nov/Dec 10 |
