"A 100% Pinot Meunier bottling is rare in both the sparkling and still wine worlds. Despite this, Novy produced Their first Pinot Meunier two years ago and it proved to be quite a hit! The grapes come from the Van der Kamp family's vineyard, high on Sonoma Mountain. One thing we learned last year is that Pinot Meunier does not like new oak so this year we picked two 2-year-old French oak barrels and aged the wine in those for 10 months prior to bottling. Bottling was done by hand, without fining or filtration. The 2006 Novy Pinot Meunier is a medium-bodied red wine with loads of cranberry and dried flower aromatics. In the mouth there are rich red fruits and a slightly tart finish that come from the wine’s acidity.
