Somewhat surprisingly given the usual pattern between the GE and La Grande Rue, this is more reserved, indeed even discreet with a ripe panoply of both spicy red and black pinot fruit aromas amplified by plenty of spice notes that are transmitted clearly to the rich, full, sweet and very stylish flavors that are at once mouth coating and serious yet entirely classy on the driving finish. While the personality here is very different from the GE, they are qualitative equals and if they are available, both would make excellent additions to your cellars.
