It is remarkable what Yves Vatelot can accomplish at this estate, which is only entitled to an Appellation Bordeaux Superieur designation. A blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, the super-impressive 2006 boasts a dense purple color as well as a bouquet of sweet creme de cassis, spring flowers, toasty oak, and background forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, richly fruity, and pure with an alluring texture as well as length, it should drink nicely for 5-10 years. 91 points Robert Parker Wine Advocate # 181 (Feb 2009).
Full, deep ruby. Superripe aromas of kirsch, black raspberry and chocolate; slightly porty. Lush, ripe, round and deep; chocolatey and thick for the year. Finishes with slow-building, dusty tannins and very good length. My sample seemed low in sulfur and in need of a bit more verve, but this really fills the mouth. 86-88 points Stephen Tanzer.
Blackberry and mineral aromas follow through to a medium body, with round tannins and a simple finish. Best from 2010 through 2013. 13,750 cases made. 85 points, Wine Spectator Web only 2009. |
