Good medium ruby. Medicinal cassis, black plum, licorice and violet on the perfumed nose; offers more lift today than the Lujan de Cuyo bottling. Juicy, suave and fine-grained, with very good intensity to the dark fruit and spice flavors. This is also plenty ripe but shows a lighter touch and more detail than the Lujan de Cuyo version. Finishes with ripe, building but fine-grained tannins and a lingering chocolate flavor. 91 points, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Jan/Feb 09
Rich, with a hefty dose of roasted vanilla and coffee leading the way for a core of dark plum and braised fig notes. Muscular and toasty through the full-bodied finish. For fans of the style. Best from 2009 through 2011. 370 cases made. 90 points, Wine Spectator, 12/31/08 |
