The 2006 Barolo Bricco Fiasco is simply magnificent. It, too, is impressively powerful, but here the layers of flavor are beautifully filled out. Exotic, ripe red fruit, smoke and menthol are but a few of the nuances that gradually emerge as this refined and impeccably elegant wine rises from the glass. The French oak is beautifully integrated, while the wine’s weight and sheer harmony leave a lasting impression. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2026. 94 points Wine Advocate # 187 Feb 2010
Mint and menthol aromas lead off, followed by plum, chocolate and tobacco flavors as this firm, muscular Barolo develops on the palate. There's plenty of sweetness to balance the structure, ending in a cascade of sweet fruit and spice. Best from 2014 through 2032. 93 points, Wine Spectator Advance, Feb 16, 2011
Good full red. Black cherry and plum aromas are complicated by a brooding medicinal element. Sweet, lush and fleshy but restrained, with good purity and considerable power to its ripe flavors of plum, strawberry, smoke and spices. A ripe, deep Barolo that finishes with serious, broad tannins and lingering sweetness. 91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Nov/Dec 09 |
