"This too evidences a touch of wood on the citrus and ripe orchard fruit suffused nose that introduces rich, intense, pure and solidly concentrated and very powerful flavors that display outstanding length though the wood comes up in a big way on the finish. This is an impressive wine and there is sufficient extract that this will very likely successfully integrate the oak." 89-92 Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound, Issue 24
Slightly deeper yellow than the Macon-Pierreclos. Ripe, carnal aromas of apricot, buttery pastry dough, nut oil and honey. Huge, silky and mouthfilling, with superb sweetness of apricotty fruit leavened by sound acidity. Maintains plenty of freshness on the palate-staining finish. Guffens told me he only removed leaves two weeks before the harvest, and the partial shading of the fruit allowed for good retention of natural acidity. These two wines were bottled without fining or filtration, except for the last few liters of each barrel. 93 Points, Stephen Tanzer's Int'l Cellar (2007) |
