Delicate aromas of ripe plum, with hints of cedar and flowers. Medium- to full-bodied, with very refined tannins and a long, complex finish of strawberry and spices. Drink now through 2012. 90 points, The Wine Spectator, December 15, 2008
Medium red with an amber rim. Aromas of red cherry, violet and marzipan. Intensely flavored but light on its feet, with classic nebbiolo energy and flavors of red fruits and tar on the fresh, smooth palate. Lacks just a bit of concentration to warrant an outstanding score. Better if decanted two hours ahead. 89 points, By Ian D'Agata Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Mar 10
"The 2004 Gattinara is a very pretty, silky wine redolent of perfumed cherries, spices, flowers and tobacco all of which are supported by a graceful, finessed texture. The medium-bodied 2004 Gattinara is an especially refined wine from Travaglini. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019. 89 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, October 2009" |
