Very supple, with pure, Burgundy-like notes of red and black cherry, raspberry and incense, followed by a long, supersilky finish that lets the fruit, mineral and garrigue notes play out beautifully. Subtle now. Should put on weight in the cellar. Drink now through 2026. 1,165 cases made.

Deep ruby. Lush raspberry and cherry preserves on the nose, with hints of candied plum, espresso, flowers and dark chocolate. An impressively rich Chateauneuf, with powerful dark fruit flavors perked up by refreshing mineral lift on the back and nicely supported by supple tannins. Rich and chewy on the finish, with lingering notes of smoke, meat and cherry liqueur. Serious stuff, and in need of cellaring.

The outstanding 2004 Cuvee Prestige, as always, has gamey, kirsch liqueur notes, a dark plum/garnet color, full body, loads of flavor, and plenty of spice, herbs, new saddle leather, and meaty notes. It is rich, heady, and best drunk in its first 10-15 years of life.
