A completely different aromatic expression asserts itself here with high-toned cherry and raspberry notes that merge into round, generous, fleshy and pure flavors that tighten up considerably on the dusty, firm, edgy and slightly bitter finish. Given the good mid-palate fat, I suspect the bitterness is due more to the recent bottling than anything that will persist unduly. 88 Points, Allen Meadows' Burghound, Issue 22
Moderately saturated medium red. Plum, smoke, spices and underbrush on the evolving nose. There's better retention of fruit here than in the Santenay Clos Tavannes, with redcurrant flavor complicated by an autumnal element. This one too shows an edge of acidity, and finishes with dusty tannins. 88 points, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Mar/Apr 07 |
