Medium ruby. Superripe aromas of black raspberry, leather and smoke. Sweet, fat, broad and serious; big and mouthfilling. Chocolatey-rich and full of fresh fruit. Finishes with big, sweet tannins and building length. Reportedly from a yield of just 31 hectoliters per hectare, and partly fermented in barrels. 87-90 points, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, May/Jun 05
Lots of blackberry aromas, with hints of cola. Medium-bodied, with a good core of tannins and a medium finish. Very well-done. Best after 2008. 87 points, Wine Spectator Issue: Web Only - 2007
Not performing as well from bottle as it did from barrel, the 2004 Reignac was tannic, austere, and closed on three different occasions. It should ultimately be better than this note suggests, but at present it is disjointed and angular, with crisp acidity and little fruit. This has been a perennial sleeper, high quality effort, so I suspect it is going through an ungraceful stage of development. 86 points,Wine Advocate # 171 Jun 2007 |
