We visited the domaine of Guy Charlemagne in February ('08) and tasted this wine ahead of release. It was very impressive and quite vital, only having been bottled a month before. Made entirely from 100% Grand Cru rated grapes of Mesnil Sur Oger, all vines 80 years, 1/2 of the wine went through malolactic in stainless steel and 1/2 was aged without malo in oak before the assemblage. The wine is very fresh, brisk even due to its youth, has fine flavors of fresh apples and pear (100% Chardonnay) and plenty of minerality underneath the fine, fine bead. It is incredible stuff and will reward cellaring. We were fortunate to be able to cherry pick here. 95 Points, Rhett Beiletti, B-21.
