A full and well-balanced blend of dark fruit, caramel, bread and toast swells in this tight bouquet. While it’s complex in the nose, this beer’s easy on the tongue. A malt-forward profile flows across the palate with easy transitions: Light bready malts pick up hints of toast, and then caramel and dark fruit as it washes back. A quiet bitterness counters the sweetness and guides this straightforward beer to a refreshingly clean finish.

Lagunitas DayTime IPA 6pk

Tangerine pulp, grapefruit rind, birch, peppery, leafy, bready, spicy. Very crisp, wet, lighter bodied, thorough hop bitterness, nutty graininess, mildly pungent, citrus rind, dried grass, papaya, very dry finish. A very solid sessionable IPA, had no problem quaffing this back and ended up getting my hop fix as well. All in all a great ale.

This was the freshest smelling beer we had all month. The hops didn't just exhibit the standard citrus flavors of grapefruit and lemon, but they also delivered some mild strawberry notes and a grassy, earthy flavor -- maybe the brewery's claim that it uses 43 diffferent hops isn't pulling our leg after all. This beer has a great head and a wonderful hop flavor as well. We wanted a slightly stronger malt backbone to stand up to all those hops, but what was there lingered well. This IPA is very soft and not terribly crisp, but then again, an ale with this many flavors needn't be crisp, just refreshing.

Citrus pulp, grapefruit, mandarin oranges, hemp seeds, pineapple, peppery alcohol, faintly bready. Smooth, creamy, bitter, orange pith, blood orange rind, guava, dank, broth, bready, warming alcohol, resin, spicy, bitter semi-dry hoppy finish. This is a big brew, not the biggest but it certainly stand taller and the balance here is not seen much from strong hoppy beers. Drinkability is a big factor for me especially when size is above normal. Glad I revisit this ale when I can.

Lagunitas A Little Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale 6pk

Minutely hazy gold color. Herbal, hoppy citrusy aromas and flavors of grilled tropical fruit, herbs, and rye toast with a supple, vibrant, finely carbonated, dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body and a smooth, complex, very long pepper, spice, and bitter greens finish. An absolutely delicious hoppy wheat ale.

If you enjoy stouts, you'll love Left Hand Milk Stout. Hell, if you enjoy beer, you'll love Left Hand Milk Stout. It pouts a slightly opaque, deep amber to black color with hues of ruby. The aroma is reminiscent of a fine mocha coffee or even rich chocolate milk. The taste opens with hints of sweet coffee and milk chocolate before maturing into a rich, full mlaty body. We recommend that you get to a state that sells this beer (there are now more than 20), and try it immediately because it is quite possibly the best stout in America.

Highly roasted malt aromas and alcoholic to the nose. Smooth, potent and espresso like with a high burnt malt and hop bitterness that finishes on the sweet side to say the least. Very complex, and true to its style. Well worth the $3.00 (+/-) paid for the single bottle, and I'd definitely buy it again. Not a beer for the faint of heart, but rather barley wine lovers and chocolate fanatics.

Though fruit beers are a polarizing style, this is a definite love it or hate it beer. If you like assertive cherry candy flavors, then you'll be all good. If you're not a huge fan of the fruit, especially candies with this flavor, then take a pass. It's cherry-driven for sure, but more of the candied Jolly Rancher and fruit-roll up type of flavor than fresh. Otherwise, it's clean, light and easy to drink.

88 points, Wine Enthusiast (Jun 2011)

Minutely hazy light gold color. Fruity aromas and flavors of maraschino cherry and almond cookie with a bright, finely carbonated, fruity light-to-medium body and a sleek, breezy cherry shortcake with whipped cream, wheat wafer, and starfruit finish. A smooth and easy cherry flavored ale.
