The 2020 Chianti Classico from Badia a Coltibuono has a smoky nose with some assertive spicy oak notes and some dark red cherry fruit, still on the less ripe side. On the palate it is a much more serious wine with very lingering, integrated tannic structure which creates a long tail of chalky-textured tannins on the finish. There is a good balance between the just ripe, slightly bitter cherry fruit, the fresh, cleansing acidity and those dry, savory tannins. I like the cleanness and the precision of the fruit. It is very stylish and elegantly done with a serious dimension to it.

Wild herbs and pure red fruits are expressive in the 2020 Chianti Classico, with tomato leaf and raspberry liqueur. Medium bodied, with ripe tannins and a warming yet weightless finish, it has a profile of black cherry, tea leaf, and saline earth. Pure and classic, this is a killer value. Drink 2023-2033.

Fresh and sour cherries, raspberries, lemons, slate and cement on the nose. Medium-bodied, crunchy and vibrant with fine tannins and bright acidity. So drinkable now.

Delicate rose-petal scents infuse this wine’s lively red-cherry flavors laced with notes of orange peel. It’s medium body and raspy tannins are ready for braised pork.
