The 2024 Sylvaner Weinbaum is made from the oldest vines of the estate in the lieu-dit Weinbaum, facing east on clay and up to 70 years old. Lovely Mirabelle fruit is tender on the nose but pure, with a slightly drying texture that speaks of the concentrated fruit these old vines bring. (Bone-dry)

The 2024 Sylvaner from Domaine Henry Fuchs is made from vines that are more than sixty years of age. The wine is showing just a touch of reduction out of the blocks from its screwcap, so it is certainly a good idea to give it fifteen to twenty minutes in decanter before serving. Once the wine blossoms, it delivers a lovely bouquet of apple, tart pear, stony soil tones, a touch of raw almond and a topnote of wheat chaff. On the palate the wine is precise, full-bodied, crisp and soil-driven in personality, with a lovely core of fruit, fine balance and a long, complex and classy finish. This is really very good Sylvaner!
