The palate is full-bodied, offering firmly framed tannins, bright acidity and a luscious, silken finish. Though weighty and densely packed, it shows a high level of polish and sophistication. Gorgeously polished and expressive, it opens with layered black and blue fruit underscored by espresso bean, dark chocolate and subtle scorched-earth nuances. Full-bodied and powerful, crushed-slate minerality drives a long, fruit-led and suavely textured finish. This stands as one of Thomas Rivers Brown’s most commanding, robust and expressive wines of the 2023 vintage. Utterly delicious straight out of the gate and drinking with ease, it nevertheless carries the structural tension and integrity to reward a deCade or more in the cellar.
