Tasted at the domaine in October, the 2023 Bourgogne Cote d’Or is a classy, classic, entry-level gem. Compact red fruits frame an aromatic nose, with red currant, cherry, and raspberry coulis. Gamey tones and iron-rich minerality are layered underneath in balanced fashion. The palate is structurally sound and actually a bit bracing in the acidity at this stage, with firm tannins supporting tart red fruit and floral tones that are still primary and should gain depth with a year or two in bottle. The mid-palate is very juicy and lively, providing easy-going pleasure all the way through the bright finish, which also sports hints of that same iron minerality. Pure Pinot character all the way.

20,000 bottles have been made of this cuvée. Harvest by hand themselves, largely from the Côte de Nuits, the rest Côte de Beaune (two thirds/one third). A fine clean ruby purple. Lovely fresh pinot on the nose, exemplary, medium-bodied, good acidity. Persistent and classic. A fine example. Drink from 2026-2028. Tasted Nov 2024.
