The 2022 Riesling Ayler Kupp Kabinett No. 8 is still covered with yeasty funk on the nose. It is from a pre-harvest of the GG parcels, and Lauer notes that the best sites deliver aromatic ripeness while the acidity is still crackling at this juncture of ripeness. And crackle it does - this is vivid with green apple, salty stone, chervil and lemon balm, salty with slate and incredibly mouth-watering. All the sweetness is subsumed into citrus intensity. Lovely, vivacious, seductive at 47g/L of residual sweetness and 10.1g/L of acidity. (Sweet)
