With a history of grape growing on the property dating back to the Phoenicians in 600 BC, Chateau Paradis has been owned by the Thieblin family since 2011, credited with making significant investments that have upgraded the quality of the estate’s wines including hiring famed consultant Michel Tardieu and expanding the vineyard holdings to 80 hectares in the Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence AOC. Set among rugged limestone hills between the Montagne Sainte-Victoire ridge and the rocky Luberon Massif, the vineyards of Chateau Paradis are planted on shallow clay-limestone soils, benefiting from over 300 days of sunshine each year with the hot, dry Mediterranean climate moderated by the region’s famed Mistral winds coming down from the Rhone Valley. Hand harvesting the grapes for this top cuvee from the best parcels and employing strict selection, the 2022 Chateau Paradis Terre des Anges Rose blends Syrah with Mourvedre and a small amount of Vermentino known locally as “Rolle,” the Mourvedre vinified separately in large oak casks and aged for two months on the lees adding complexity and yielding a richly structured rose with a silky, mouth watering finish.
