Classic Luce, with its grippy tannins, grilled sandalwood, caress of rose petal, followed up by raspberry, red cherry puree, baking spice, liqourice and dried herbs on the finish. Darker ruby in colour, more so than many of the Tuscans in the lineup, reflective of 80% new oak and the more contemporary style, with Merlot adding roundess through the palate and tannic pressure on the close of play. Ripe and full on the nose, a little punchy in terms of heat, spice and oak notes. Thick and intense, ripe and hot but not plump, you get the impression of heat and maturity of grapes, but it's matched quite intensely to oaky elements that make this a little unforgiving right now. A little thick in terms of texture, just missing some extra energy and freshness.
