B‑21 has always offered the best wines at the best prices of any vendor. I had a lot of problems with FedEx shipping on several occasions, but all of a sudden they've implemented a new schedule and notification system that really seems to work. This delivery was on time and perfect. Looking forward to my next order.

Good selection, fair prices and prompt/economical delivery. Minor but worrisome gripe: 2 bottles in the last shipment either were corked or the corks were loosen in shipment. The bottles were both fully intact, as were the foil caps, but both had leaked into the box. One lost about 75% of the wine, and the other only about 10%. They were 2 of 6 vermentino wines from as very reputable Tuscan producer that I know well, having been there twice.

Sadly, UPS damaged my shipment of the last bottles of Banyuls wine in B‑21 inventory. The message I received was that the unbroken bottles of my order was being returned to sender (B‑21). I was beyond bummed! B‑21's customer service was extraordinary. In order to arrange for a replacement shipment to be sent, they had to replenish their stock. Within a few hours, I got a message saying the wine was ordered, and confirmed that I'd receive an email when the order was shipped. I couldn't ask for better service. I highly recommend B‑21 for their selection and service. Thanks so much for going above and beyond.

The folks at B‑21 turn orders quickly and the$24/case shipping cost is reasonable. My shipment arrived with one broken bottle that apparently was empty when it was packed, as there was no evidence of wine in any dividers, the bottles in the case, or the case itself. The cork was still in the bottle. It was disappointing to lose a bottle of my wife's favorite wine, and they refunded the price of the bottle without delay. It was unfortunate that this happened, but hard to understand how an empty bottle could have been put in the case. I am satisfied with their response and hope to continue doing business with them.

While the steep, terraced vineyards of Mount Etna have attracted winemakers and consultants from all over the world, winemaker Giuseppe Russo is Sicilian born and bred, drawn back to his family’s roots in Passopisciaro after the death of his father Girolamo who had been farming vineyards on the slopes of Mt. Etna for decades but never bottling his own wine. Establishing the winery that bears his father’s name in 2005, Giuseppe’s organically farmed vineyards span 15 hectares on Etna’s windy northern slope, surrounded by olive and hazelnut trees at altitudes from 650 to 780 meters above sea level and planted with a range of indigenous grapes including the white Carricante and red Nerello Mascalese in Etna’s wide-ranging mineral-rich volcanic soils. The Girolamo Russo 2021 Etna Rosso Calderara Sottana emerges as one of the finest wines made on Etna in recent years. The bouquet is nuanced and rich with many moving parts, which span from red fruits, cassis, blue flower and campfire ash. These tones are linked together with seamless integration but remain lifted and bright nonetheless. The wine shows fine structure and plenty of minerality on the close.

Ripe and sweet red and black berries are backed by some chocolatey notes and fine, chalky tannins. Very balsamic, sapid and vertical, it displays impressive concentration of pure, succulent fruit. Patience will be rewarded.
