Roughly two-thirds Roussanne and one-third Bourboulenc, Marcoux's 2021 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc matured in a mix of stainless steel and Stockinger demi-muids and went through malolactic fermentation. Hints of smoke, crushed stone and toasted hazelnut appear on the nose, wrapped around a core of white peaches and fresh limes, while the medium to full-bodied palate boasts a silky mid-palate, then a long, crisp finish.

I always love the white from this estate, and their 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc is another winner. Honeyed peach, acacia flowers, brioche, and plenty of spicy notes all emerge on the nose, and it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, a round, elegant mouthfeel, nicely integrated acidity, and a great finish. Worth a case purchase, it’s ideal for drinking over the coming 2-4 years, and I have no doubt it will evolve longer. The blend is 70% Roussanne and 30% Bourboulenc that saw full malolactic fermentation and was aged half in demi-muids and half in stainless steel.

The 2021 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc is a blend of 70% Roussanne and 30% Bourboulenc. It is medium lemon-colored, entering the stage with delicate aromas of blossom, pear, lemon zest, white peach, pineapple and a pinch of melon. Full-bodied, oily-textured and framed by lively acids, the finish is long-lasting. This 2021 white is made from vines with an average age of 40 years.

Shows alluring creamed pear and verbena notes that are mouthfilling and rich, yet zesty minerality and vibrant acidity keep the palate fresh. The lengthy finish is marked by floral highlights, dried thyme and a note of brioche. Drink now through 2028. 9,600 cases made, 330 cases imported.
