Wild berries, peppery herbs, hints of cinnamon and a mix of underbrush and wet stone introduce the 2020 Etna Rosso Sciare Vive. This is smoky both in the glass and on the palate, with a juicy wave of ripe red and black berries offset by a subtle twang of sour citrus and nervous acidity. The Sciare Vive leaves a caking of minerality, as well as fine tannins to linger, as it fades long and lightly structured with rosy inner florals that resonate on. This is beautiful today, but it should also hold up well through medium-term cellaring.
