This wine’s open structure contains pale red fruit and wintery baking-spice richness in an easygoing weight with slightly less body than in your typical malbec. I was glad that lightness clearly shone through the wine’s coconut richness. This is a wine for the cold of winter; the flavors reminded me of coquito, the Puerto Rican rum-spiked coconut quaff spiced similarly to eggnog, while its vinous flavors shine through. It’s “a wine that comes to you,” as one panelist put it, elegance in a plush frame.

This is a blend of malbecs from Uco and Patagonia. Some dark spices, tree bark and black cherries. The juicy, medium-bodied palate delivers some peppery berry fruit and some fine-grained tannins. Nicely grippy finish. Drink now or hold.

The 2020 Malbec The President's Malbec is a combination of grapes from Patagonia and the Uco Valley aged in 80% new barrels. Purple in hue, the nose presents notes of plum and blackberry jam with redcurrant and refined oaky aromas. Mildly concentrated with an opulent start, it leaves a layer of extract on the tongue. Still developing, this is a wine to be drunk in at least two years.
